This is fantastic. The melody is SO strong. I cannot get it out of my head. They should've held onto this one and let it be the lead-off to her sophomore record.

Her best single yet IMO. It’s connecting well on sales/streaming, so hopefully it’ll at least go Top 20 for her. I can’t really see it being as big as her first 2 single though.

(I am not a Gabby Barrett fan but why a certain poster keeps pretending he likes her?) Anyway, this song is decent and is already charting above Up and Wishful Drinking in Hot Country Songs chart. She still doesn't seem to have a long career to me though.

I love this song. Has continued to connect well despite being dropped over two months ago. I could see this doing for her somewhat like what "Night Shift" did for Jon Pardi; where it follows up an underperforming late album single (She Ain't In It) to get a little bit of radio momentum back before they move onto the next era.

I am still not convinced Gabby Barrett has much longevity in the genre as she still feels more like a Gretchen Wilson than Carrie Underwood in terms of success. But of the songs from the Deluxe this was probably the best song to pick from even though given how long chart runs are nowadays this should have just been lead single for the second album especially since let's be blunt this is peaking in November at the earliest and that's if it really catches on.
As for the song itself, it's not as horrible as her first 3 singles are for me but that's mainly due to the production not being horrible for once, but I still don't get the appeal for Gabby Barrett as her voice just sounds so unpleasant to listen too and the lyrics are very basic. I am all for women succeeding in country music but among the women who have emerged the last few years (her, Ingrid Andress, Tenille Arts, Lainey Wilson, Priscilla Block) she is the one I am least excited for and wouldn't mind seeing her success sputter out for women I find much more engaging.

This just lets me know her sophomore album is far from being done considering her singles take about a year to peak. I don’t know how this will impact her next era but homegirl needs something good and fast

I’m curious if she’ll end up touring this year then. To my knowledge she has yet to embark on a solo tour…

Yesss, absolutely the best call they could have made if they weren't just going to start a whole new era. I have been loving this one so far, and especially the fact that the country elements are turned WAY up from anything she has released previously. The very first thing I noticed when this one started is that absolutely gorgeous steel guitar

This song is amazing and I am ecstatic that it's getting the single treatment. I still wish she had not bothered with a deluxe re-issue of the Goldmine record and this could've just been the lead-off to a whole new project, but I am happy this will get the chance to be a radio hit, even if it means new music will take longer. Her debut was one of my favorites among the newer ladies in the past few years and I'm excited for her sophomore record once it comes to fruition. I know some members of this forum are not too enthused with her and wouldn't mind seeing her fail, but this song sounds like a total smash to me and "Footprints" is still the anomaly in her catalog thus far as her first two hits were bigger than most male country singles, even. She seems to be in a much better place to have continued success than artists like Priscilla Block and Tenille Arts who recently had hits that no one bought, i.e. Also, even though this is technically tacked onto her debut, it is still a brand new song so I do feel there is some decent hype behind this one and given the sales/streaming its been able to do so far, I'd be surprised if this performed similarly to "Footprints." I sense another smash.

As much as I don't care for Gabby much as a person, this is really great and I've been enjoying it for a few weeks so I'm glad it's being sent to radio. It's not as good as her first two singles, but it's MILES better than anything else on her debut. I definitely see this doing better than "Footprints", but I also did NOT expect "Footprints" to flop anywhere as badly as it did so maybe the industry/radio isn't as excited about her as an artist as I thought. Her first two singles were undeniably huge hit (and great songs) that connected really well, so I'm thinking this one might need to continue to connect strongly if it were to become a hit. I think it does help, as someone mentioned, that it's a new song though, so it won't feel like a 4th single after a massively underperforming single.

This is definitely catchy but it's going to be hard to match her first two singles. The thing that I Hope and Good Ones had going for them was that before she was even signed to any label, they were charting in the top tier of iTunes and streaming well. And it's not like it was just post-Idol hype..she had plenty of other material (since deleted on Spotify) that was definitely not connecting. The first two singles were just fantastic and undeniable smashes.
So...while this is indeed showing SOME interest (more than anything else)... we'll see how well it ends up doing. It sure seems like radio and the industry (per her Female Artist nom) is willing to push her forward rather speedily. This and the next album's launch single will likely determine her longevity.

This is definitely catchy but it's going to be hard to match her first two singles. Lmao if this is the metric we’re using, she’s going to constantly be set up for failure. She could have a wildly successful 30+ year career with 25 #1s, and never again match the unfathomably massive impact of her first two hits 🙃

While Carrie may never have another song that quite hits the heights of BHC or Jesus, she's had plenty that have made big big impacts. That's all I'm trying to say, and forgive me if I'm not saying it well: "Pick Me Up" doesn't sound like something that is going to do that and especially in comparison to the previous 2 singles, but I'm also all for her longevity and success so I'd love to be proved wrong in the end. Rooting for her, just cautiously.

Gabby Barrett Album ranking game is open now! I'm okay with this song for now, but may grow on me. I actually prefer Never Get It Back, the other song from the Deluxe version, over this. Still, will root for this, as I do want Gabby to stick around for a long term in the mainstream radio scene.

This is crossing to Hot AC, being serviced to that format too.

This is crossing to Hot AC, being serviced to that format too. The way that her team is doing this for Pick Me Up but wouldn't for The Good Ones. I wonder how it'll do. It's pretty country sounding. Would be cool to see her continue to have crossover success, but MAN did they miss out on a nice pop hit with TGO.

This is crossing to Hot AC, being serviced to that format too. I find it funny that her dad and sister said on Facebook awhile back in response to a fan asking if "The Good Ones" would have a crossover push that "Nashville doesn't like when country artists crossover all of their stuff" and yet Gabby is getting another crossover push... Good for her I guess, but "The Good Ones" would've been a much better pick for a HAC push and not "Pick Me Up". Unless there's a pop version released, I doubt it'll do much. If they're seriously all in on a crossover push with a legit country sounding song, to me it shows Gabby and her team are much more interested in her being a pop artist. If Warner should be pushing any song at HAC, it should be "Wishful Drinking" by Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt which is much more of a crossover type of song...

“Pick Me Up” is going to fail spectacularly at pop radio, especially without a remix suited for the format. Adding to the chorus that “The Good Ones” was so suited for crossover status, and very likely—almost positively—would’ve been just as massive as “I Hope.”

They can send it if they want; I really don’t see and issue with it. Kelsea pushed both “Miss Me More” and “the other girl” to pop if I’m not mistaken, i really know how this is any different.
I really don’t know why they didn’t try to service “the good ones” to other formats though. That one was huge.

The scenario at hand here though is "Pick Me Up" doesn't have the same pop/crossover appeal that "The Good Ones" did. It could still turn into a minor hit, but "The Good Ones" had potential to be a big hit just like "I Hope". At least that's what we are all theorizing here based on our opinions on the two songs. Gabby skipping "The Good Ones" for crossover play but then pushing "Pick Me Up" is a not-as-drastic comparison to Kelsea (since you brought her up) deciding not to promote "Miss Me More" to pop radio and instead pushing "half of my hometown". It doesn't NOT work, it just doesn't work as well as a previous hit that had more pop appeal and potential.

To add to this "The Good Ones" is already top 15 on AC which means the crossover appeal is also proven to some extent. It also showed up in the top 50 of HAC on several rolling updates last year. "Pick Me Up" has a more country sound compared to "I Hope" or "The Good Ones", which I would imagine is the reason why some posters are confused about her team's decision to push "Pick Me Up" when they didn't do that for "The Good Ones" for crossover airplay.

Not gonna be upset at all if this turns into a crossover hit, but I do agree with others that it was an odd choice to not try for crossover airplay with "The Good Ones" considering just how big it was. It definitely would've made a decent dent in the HAC charts like several of Kelsea's singles have imo. I could see "Pick Me Up" possibly making some headway on the HAC charts though, which is the format it was sent to (rather than CHR where it would do nothing).

A good thing to note is that this song was recently placed in Spotify’s Hot Country Playlist last week, which should help it pull in very strong streaming numbers; Footprints on the Moon wasn’t added until nearly 6 months since the song was released.
Also good to note that it’s selling very well on iTunes and has been since released; selling higher than a good chunk of songs currently that are top 20/30 on radio. I think that all signs of a good connecting song are showing; now it’s just a matter if radio will turn this one into the hit, because on every other aspect it’s firing on all cylinders.

Gunna be another hit for her at least on the country format. I think how this performs is a real indicator of how her career is going to perform in terms of focus. If it hits on country and they attempt to cross it over to mainstream formats and they don't get a return on the investment of the push to HOT AC and CHR, chances are they are going to keep the focus with sound and promotion for the second album mainly on country radio rather than focus on crossover hits. Regardless, seeing how this song is performing on the other metrics, if country radio picks this up, its going to be a hit on the format.
