Artist: Joe Nichols Single: "Good Day for Living" Writers: Dave Cohen, Bobby Hambrick, Neil Mason Album: Good Day For Living Label: Quartz Hill Records Impact Date: January 31st, 2022
This one was sent to country radio yesterday. The new single from Joe Nichols, and his second for Quartz Hill Records (and his upcoming new album).
Audio coming soon!
It's an optimistic subject song that's an uptempo. Fits Joe well.

One of the best voices in country music. Would love to see him have a resurgence.

I love Joe and I didn’t mind Home Run but everything so far from this album is very disappointing. Hopefully some more traditional stuff to come

Don’t expect it to make a dent at radio, but it’s a good song, easy on the ears. This and Home Run have been solid Nichols.

I'm really enjoying this song, so hope to see this making it to the chart, as I was disappointed that Home Run didn't even make it to the top 60. While lyrics are fine, the melody is pretty catchy + Joe's delivery is very pleasant, as is the case with many of his materials.

Much better than "Home Run" to me, but it's still rather inoffensive/generic. He's at the point where songs like that aren't going to make any kind of headway on the charts anyway, so I wish he'd just start cranking out some introspective gems again because he's had some great ones over the years. His voice is superb, but his material doesn't always match up.

Pulled 18 adds on this add week. Pretty underwhelming start, but 4 more adds compared with the add week of Home Run. Home Run barely missed the chart, so let's see if this can make it.

Actually enjoying this quite a bit. Sounds like a hit to me. Plenty better than the first 3 songs I’ve heard from this album.

Very glad to see Joe back on the charts. Crazy how he has been treated by radio after "Sunny and 75" and "Yeah". I hope this one does well for him and gets him back up on the map.

Enters the Top 50 on Mediabase this week at #50. I believe this is Joe Nichols first appearance in the Top 50 on Mediabase since "Undone" in 2016 (either that or "Never Gets Old").

I wouldn't be surprised if this went top 30 at least (a la other singles from "legacy" artists like "Every Girl In This Town" and "Old School" after their inflated debuts). Feels like a sleeper hit.

Continues to do surprisingly well for a Joe Nichols radio single in 2022. If it keeps going like it has been, it's looking likely to at least reach the top 40 in the coming months, which would be his first time making it that far in seven years.

Nice to see Joe Nichols picking up stations and spins: JOE NICHOLS Good Day For Living 11 81 I know it's just anecdotal, but I've been hearing this almost daily in and around the Austin area for the past couple of weeks. Not expecting this to do much, but it sounds so refreshing coming through the airwaves.

If this can turn into an actual hit for him (top 20+) I’d be ecstatic. He’s long been a favourite of mine and I’ll always love seeing his name kn the chart.

First top 40 hit on Country Airplay for Joe in 8 years (“Hard To Be Cool” peaked at #22).

Up to #25 on Mediabase and #28 on Billboard this week. Still don't know how much this song has left in it, but it is so nice to see this do well and not to mention it has a decent bullet for middle of December (188) as of today.

Literally anything else this can achieve at this point is icing on the cake! I’ve always loved Joe and it’s been an absolute joy watching this climb so far. I’d obviously love for him to make a consistent comeback but if this is a final chart hurrah I’m just as happy. I think too 20 is doable. Past that will be a reach but I think they can push for a top 20 finish. His adds do keep coming so it’s not dead yet.

I’m so satisfied with the performance of this so far. Slam dunk of a single choice for Joe… this is super radio friendly and honestly has a killer chorus. The bullet is pretty healthy and it’s on the cusp of the top 20. I would love for this to keep on climbing all the way to the top 10. Such a great song!

This would’ve been such a smash 10 years ago. I mean my goodness what an earworm. Been out for a year plus and is really only getting better to me 😂

Joe is back to Canadian chart after 9 years! Entered the Canadian airplay chart this week at #45 with the total of 15 adds. His last appearance was "Hard to Be Cool" which barely scratched the bottom of the chart.

Becomes his first Top 20 on country radio on Mediabase landing at #20 this week with 61 spins gained. Joe Nichols' first Top 20 since "Yeah" back in 2014.
Now that this is Top 20 on one of the charts, I don't know how much longer they keep this afloat and if they aim for Top 20 on both charts or just settle for a Mediabase only Top 20 peak.

Officially reaches #20 on the BB Country Airplay chart this week! His first since "Yeah" nearly 9 years ago to make it at least this high.
