That's right, "Springsteen" was our most consistent #2 contender, and was even able to hold onto the top 5 until the last handful of lists...and it only lost the top 10 at the last possible second thanks to LBTrocks :( In terms of songs that are perfectly designed to evoke nostalgia, this is one of the best! It helps that it came out right about the time I was finishing high school, and I used to have a Jeep back when I had my first girlfriend, so a lot of these lyrics hit very close to my own experiences! Lol

Speaking of that disappointing run for "Follow Your Arrow", the same thing is about to happen yet again, as our next song was our most consistent #2 contender, and was even still in the top 5 until the last handful of lists! I was just thinking to myself that it better not be "Springsteen". SMH And the thing is, Flops sent it packing with a not-even-that-low rank of 63!!! Just goes to show what a heartbreaker this rankdown is... Lol

I think the only #100 left in rankdown is samo's. Please be a worthwhile one.

It's always rather disappointing to see a song that was such a consistent top 10 contender get the rug pulled out from under it at the end. Same for Springsteen lol Also I expected shooter's #100 to be that song, but nathanalbright's #100 being FYA? That's some hate crime. These two songs featured 2 of the final 3 last-place ranks... Which means that heading into the top 10 we STILL have a last place rank hanging out!! It'll be interesting to see which one it is! Edit: DEAD at you posting about this right before me. (And at you keeping track of all this!!)

Of course the more boring ballads stay while this beautifully constructed and interesting rhythm song left already.

This rankdown is rly just an exercise in me seeing a reveal and thinking “that’s how I ranked that one???”

Our final song to miss the top 10 is none other than the very first country song to ever win a rankdown!!!! It won the first edition of the 2016 year-end rankdown, hosted by gravey, and then came in at #2 in the 2015 rankdown that I hosted right after that. When I redid the 2016 rankdown prior to doing this decade rd, it only finished at #3, behind "Peter Pan" and "My Church". I chose to include it as the #2 for 2015, and then eliminate it as a duplicate from 2016, which is what allowed "21 Summer" to be in this rankdown. castleoblivion26 will be happy to see this go, as the lone bottom 10 rank. And honestly, I am happy too, lol. I have just plain overplayed this one through the years, so I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I used to. I don't think I'm the only one, considering that it fell from #1 to #3 in the first and second 2016 rankdowns.

This rankdown is rly just an exercise in me seeing a reveal and thinking “that’s how I ranked that one???” The same thought just crossed my mind when I saw my abysmal ranking for "Burning House". Much of my rankings for rankdowns such as this are honestly rather dependent upon my mood at the time as all of these songs are great.

Ok i didn’t even send in a list for this so I can’t change anything but I’m hoping for Die From A Broken Heart or More Hearts Than Mine to win this. Both excellent songs.

Anyone have any guess for what will FINALLY win this damn thing?!?! I went into this thinking that Sara's "A Little Bit Stronger" was the song to beat, so I'm sticking to my guns and going with that.

I can't even tell you how disappointed I am that "Burning House" is out before "The House That Built Me" but I'm not surprised sadly. I wasn't expecting THTBM to miss the top 10 but I was hoping Cam could get in there. I like "Springsteen" well enough, but it's weak compared to a lot of songs on this list IMO.

I'm just happy "Springshit" finally bowed out because it would've been quite the blemish on this otherwise STACKED top 10.
There's literally nothing remaining that isn't an A+ song. I'd be fine with any way this shakes out.

Not even the best country song Taylor Swift made in 2010s by a mile.

Look at Taylor sneaking into the top 10 by a single solitary point!!!! "Back To December" has quite an impressive track record on Pulse, considering that we have not been very frequently kind to Taylor in the year-end country rankdowns. This song continues to defy the odds, however, and now here it is kicking off the top 10 of the best songs of the DECADE!
"betty" and "no body, no crime" are both already set to appear in the 2020s decade rd if I recall, so she has really been enjoying a nice wave of popularity in the country forum lately. It'll be interesting to see how "I Bet You Think About Me" does in the 2022 year-end!

I absolutely love "More Hearts Than Mine" as it's one of those rare songs that stops you in your tracks, but wow do I think it overstayed here.

The chorus is still so wordy, and the sentiment a bit too weak.

Well, recordyear gets his way in the fact that Ingrid is leaving next rather than continuing on to challenge for the win. I do have to agree that recency bias factors in to this one's performance here, as it is "great" in a 2019 context, while there are a few songs from like 2010-2012 that are more "great" in a 2000s context, lol. Which is probably just my way of saying I am old, but I digress. I don't think the sonic direction of the last few years is nearly as engaging as the sonic direction prior to the bro-country movement ruining everything, even if it is getting a little bit more traditional lately.

Welp, there's samo🦕's long-lasting #100 The big problem with some of these "best" songs of the decade is that they have been insanely overplayed through the years, and that is exactly how I feel about "If I Die Young". That's why it only managed to be #62 on my list. Lyrically, however, this song hits HARD, and the melody is so delightfully engaging, so it is easy to see why it was a hit!

Didn't expect "If I Die Young" to make the top 5, so I knew its reveal was coming sooner or later. I've been hearing this song a bit more it seems on country radio here locally and it just makes me long for them to make a return to their roots.
