This album is so refreshing! Not every song is a winner but this is the type of album I would have expected from Shania and it’s a major major step up from Now for me. “Giddy Up!” would have sounded right at home on Up! And the poppier songs here sound like the international versions of many of her huge hits.
I agree one critique is that it kind of sounds samey after a while but that’s also a plus in the way because it’s cohesive.
Giddy Up! Pretty Liar (I love this so much) Inhale/Exhale Air (I could see this on Up! as well) Brand New Waking Up Dreaming Best Friend Last Day of Summer On Three Not Just a Girl Done & Dusted Queen of Me Number One The Hardest Stone Got it Good (pass)

Easy and breezy. Also, this was immaculately produced. Everything sounds very crisp and Shania's vocal production is also pretty stellar. I read some reviews that said she sounded robotic, but I definitely hear character in her voice in every song. Anyway, solid album overall. I give it a B.
Waking Up Dreaming (I love this song so much! It sucks it wasn't a smash, because it deserves to be. One of my all-time favorite Shania songs, easily. I also love her vocal performance. Probably her strongest on the album.) Best Friend Giddy Up! Queen Of Me (This is giving me Selena Gomez Revival era. I'm not mad at it, though!) Inhale/Exhale Air (Love the ad-libs at the end! She sounds so soulful!) Laat Day of Summer Brand New Done & Dusted (I would LOVE her to work with Dave Cobb again. This is the most country song on the album and it's a bonus track, LOL. Also, hilarious that both bouns tracks either have Billy Ray Cyrus or reference him.) On Three (solid job on production fro Simon Felice and background vocals from...Billy Ray Cyrus!?) Not Just A Girl (Reminds me of old Shania a bit.) The Hardest Stone (I mean, this is essentially a TOP song, but...I like them, so I dig it. Just not very Shania. The harmonies are nice.) Pretty Liar (the LIE LIE LIE LIE is jarring and took me out of an otherwise solid song. Gives me Meghan Trainor vibes. Oh, but that line "So you got a big gun and you really wanna cum. Show me how you wave it, but save it for someone who cares" KILLED me.) Got It Good

Wow, I am really blown away at how good this album sounds from start to finish. She is 57 and releasing music like it could be from her prime superstar years.
Most of what I wanted o say everyone has said. I need a #1 debut in US/Can. I hope this gets her some type of Grammy in 2024.
10/10 album for me. I adore her so much.

Inhale/Exhale is really hitting for me recently. So simple, yet so effective. Whatcha you gonna do with that air?? I also like how it slides right into Last Day of Summer.

The title track has grown on me, but I don’t necessarily enjoy the bridge. Last Day of Summer has grown as well. I’d say the only song I’m not enjoying is ‘The Hardest Stone,’ just a little awkward sounding to me.

This song actually grew on me. The chorus is catchy. I stand behind the fact that it's a TOP song, but still enjoy it!

I wonder if this look will inspire people to listen to the album lmao. Speaking of inspiring, I am willing to bet 20 bucks Shanias Grammy look will inspire girls to go as Grammy Shania for Halloween. It's easy to get a red wig that outfit is not hard to copy. She's such a trendsetter! 😄 #QueenBehaviour I also added to Shanias Canadian album sales. I had to get a copy and Amazon has a big discount right now. It's been shipped but will only get to me in 2 weeks. Amazon is a mess.

This bodes well for Shania debuting at #1 in U.S. & CAN! I truly am amazed at how popular she still is like 30 years into career.
I poke fun at most of my favs over the years like Taylor Carrie, Adele, etc but I can never get myself to poke fun at Shania. She really holds a special place in my heart. I just love her. She's my idol from late childhood into teenager years.
Hoping for the bes for #1 debuts

I said in the Grammy thread that she looked like the Wendy's mascot.
In better news, I'm working on the Diva Deep Cuts episode for this!!! I had a houseguest this weekend so that pushed back my recording schedule a little.

Pretty Liar is (still) THE ONE! She needs to embrace her swearing side, I mean if she basically turned down working with Prince over it, EMBRACE IT GURL!

Projected to debut at #10 with 33k SPS (29k sales).
Now debuted at #1 with 137k SPS (134k sales) but it also had a ticket bundle.

Shania is projected to debut higher than Carrie's newest higher (sales wise) despite being 30 years into her career. Talk about longevity.

I’m happy with Top 10, it’s been over 5 years and only sold so well due to the ticket bundle. WOW I love this album. Surprisingly, Last Day of Summer is my favorite! Followed by Got It Good, Inhale / Exhale AIR, and Not Just a Girl. What can I say… I am a sucker for guitar pop with a splash of country acoustic Shania. I think that’s when she is strongest. I keep walking around saying “I got it good” lol. Waking Up Dreaming and Giddy Up! Were the correct singles and fit perfectly into the album. I am enjoying Number One and Best Friend in addition to the other songs, not one is a skip.

Top 10 is good, but lower sales than I would’ve guessed. Thought her fanbase was pretty loyal.

Yeah she has been in the business forever and is a certified legend, so Top 10 is cool, but I guess I naively she could pull off #1. That said, I don't follow the charts that much, so I don't know who is above her and how well they are selling. While I wanted better personally, at least she gave me an album I enjoy! I have enjoyed all her albums since Come On Over (admittedly, I don't know self-titled and The Woman In Me, but I have heard singles from the latter and liked them fine.) Come On Over is still GOAT, but Shania is incapable of making a straight-up BAD album. That's what happens when you are talented. Also, a lot has been said about how Lyme has damaged her voice, but...no one seems to talk about aging, which happens to ALL singers. Is some of the huskiness and rasp due to her vocal cords being ravaged and rebuilt? Sure. But, also...she is in her late 50s (how? I dunno...) but some of that is natural. She has always had some sultriness to her, but I went back to old songs and sure, she had easier access to her higher register, but...she can pull it out occasionally, mostly for bells and whistles, but I actually like the way she sounds. The only song that really jarrred me was "Not Just A Girl." At the start, I legit thought there was a guy singing.

I wasn't sure how exactly she would fare but the early estimates aren't too surprising. No more ticket bundles and she's at the point in her career where people are more interested in the legacy she's built than new material. Many of the people that spent a ton of money just to see her in Vegas might not necessarily be interested in her new album. Still solid numbers though.
I'll be honest, I was one of those people I described above. I was initially disappointed when she announced a new album because I more interested in the release of the diamond edition of Come On Over, but she's been winning me over during this album's promotional cycle. The album rollout has been great and the album itself is a great listen. It's a noticeable upgrade from Now (I had skipped over this album and only recently gave it a listen...it's not for me). She's gotten better at utilizing her new voice and her voice has more personality and attitude on this album. Feels like she's starting to really hit her stride with this album/era.

Well you can tell she doesn't have Mutt Lange writing with her. This album is terrible.

To each his own obviously. Mutt treated her like trash, so good for her to continue musically without him.
