I know some people won’t like my take but I think Spotify should lower the old songs position like Stay and Heat Waves in their official playlist so people would stream them less.

also, how did Heat Waves gain in points? is it still having radio / streaming increases or was it something funky like it went from 4,200 sales to 4,300 sales It was gaining modestly on radio this week (up 3-2 with a bullet), kept ground on sales (up 19-18 without a bullet), and had a minor rebound on streaming (down 6-7 mainly due to Problem's debut, but with a bullet). As it gained on the two metrics that comprise the vast majority of its point spread, that easily translated to a Hot 100 bullet.

That’s not going to change the fact that they are still Top 3 on radio. Perhaps, what needs to happen is that the multiplier needs needs to be lowered further to account for this period of very low competition. The charts are so weak now, heck songs like Levitating and Save Your Tears are charting higher on the Hot 100 now than they were 3 months ago.

whatever your feelings on COVID aside, we've had two years of it permeating every space and every conversation... there are plenty of places to talk about COVID that aren't the Billboard Hot 100: 02/19/2022 thread on a Chart Discussion forum let's get back to regularly discussed programming about whether Willow or Butter were legit number ones and when the Gunna remix of Circles is going to drop Arguing that Butter wasn't a legit #1 would be ridiculous. It definitely wasn't bigger than Good 4 U for all the weeks that it spent above it, but staying that it wasn't a legitimate success would be baseless. Dynamite and Butter weren't the problem - while sales massively bloated them, they were still big outside the k-pop bubble. Permission to Dance and Life Goes On objectively weren't, and they're a prime examples of sales having way too much power over the charts

The "Hits of the World" chart category replaced the "International" one. I see a whole bunch of new songs charts for countries in Europe, South America, Asis and Oceania. I took a couple of those and you can definitely see the full charts which seem to be top 25. I do think these new charts will be great additions rather than just another international song chart.

If only we had the Hits of the World chart in 2019-2020 when songs like Sunflower, Old Town Road, Blinding Lights, and Dance Monkey were really big. Thank goodness for the United World Chart.

The only difference between Butter and Permission/Life Goes On is that the fans spent much more money on Butter. In my eyes, "telepatia" (a #25-peaking song) was a bigger hit than Butter.

The data you've provided proves my point. Butter was a hit both on streaming and radio. Was it the 11th biggest song of the year? As I mentioned in my comment, not really. But unlike Life Goes On and Permission To Dance it was a legitimately sizeable hit. The difference is that BTS' fanbase made one appear to be a larger hit than it was in reality, while the other two were made to appear as massive hits, even though they weren't hits at all

How many copies of butter 🧈 did you guys buy? None, but the only mass buying of Butter I know from this section was drem buying bulk copies of the Meg Thee Stallion version during Donda week to gaslight the section and prevent Stay from recording a 5th consecutive week at #1.

Stay is somehow still #4 on Today's top hits after 7 months. Blinding Lights was outside the top 20 by August 2020 and outside the whole playlist by September, even though it was doing great on streaming. But that didn't seem to have effect on its streaming performance, so I'm not sure it would have on Stay either.

KID LAROI's label has little reason to request the song to be removed since he's on hiatus and doesn't have another single. Stay is, much like Levitating, becoming a force of it's own.

Y'all don't get enough of my opinions, so here's some more! 36. Fancy Like: Finally, a decent drop for the hokey pokey. More of those please 39. Meet Me At Our Spot: I'm happy this at least survived 20 weeks 43. Cigarettes: None of Juice's new stuff is doing well. People are finally sick of the labels taking advantage of a dead man 44. Kiss Me More: I guess it won't be making it to 52 weeks, oh well 46. Sacrifice: I went hard on Abel, but this deserves better 52. She's All I Wanna Be: She's clearly going for Good 4 U 2.0 93. The Motto: get that hit Ava!! 97. When I'm Gone: It charted, I guess I'll give it a listen. Good job Katy Perry, I honestly never thought she'd be on the Hot 100 again 100. Moth To A Flame: I'm happy some people are still listening to it! And it charted over TMB, that's crazy! It is the better song I hope Infinity re-enters!

Were there any other Weeknd songs on the playlist? I don't remember if IYE stayed there much, especially since the Doja mix came after it had peaked. 2020 is kind of a blur in my memory lol.
Otherwise, yeah, it's inconsistent. Technically it's curated by some Spotify employees and has no label input but... come on now, we know the truth.

Sorry, what's the difference between Global 200 and Hits of the World Chart? Is it just that Hits will include digital sales, too?

Global 200 doesn't include digital sales? BTS consistently slays there so I figured it did.

Imagine a song blowing up, just because you stuck it on TTH Yeah, but the same goes for radio PDs, or back in the day, whoever decided which song got the iTunes banners. Consumers really can be swayed quite easily, no? I don't really use TTH outside of checking it when I wanna hear some new songs. The Spotify curated playlists always have a lot of stuff that I don't like so I mostly stay on the playlists I create on my own.

Sorry, what's the difference between Global 200 and Hits of the World Chart? Is it just that Hits will include digital sales, too? The latter isn't one chart, it's a series of a top 25 song charts for different markets compiled by streaming and digital downloads.

"abcdefu," "Heat Waves" and more highlight the biggest hits in over 40 countries.
Following the inceptions of the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts in 2020, Billboard has unveiled the new Hits of the World surveys, zooming in on the top 25 songs in more than 40 countries based on streaming and digital sales data, powered by MRC Data.
The inaugural Feb. 19-dated Hits of the World rankings are led by 35 different songs. Three songs top three new charts each, with GAYLE’s “abcdefu,” currently No. 1 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, reigning in Austria, Germany and Luxembourg.
And atop the charts for Iceland, Ireland and the U.K., as well as the Global 200 and the U.S.-focused (and airplay-, streaming- and sales-based) Billboard Hot 100 is “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” by Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and the Encanto cast, from Disney’s hit animated film Encanto.
Elsewhere, Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” paces the Australia and Slovakia charts. The other multinational leader is Xama, Gustah and Neo Beats’ “Malvadao 3,” at No. 1 in Brazil and Portugal.
GAYLE and Glass Animals also reach well beyond their No. 1 ranks, as each artist’s hit places in the top 10 of a hefty 18 of the newly launched Hits of the World charts.
Plus, Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers,” Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy,” and Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott’s “Where Are You Now” rank in the top 10 of 13, 12 and 10 new Hits of the World surveys, respectively (despite not topping any individual rankings).
Other international chart-toppers come courtesy of acts including Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Ektor, Ninho, Troye Sivan and Sid Sriram.
As previously reported, the new top 25 Hits of the World song charts represent territories throughout Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific and Africa. They will update each Tuesday in the newly-unveiled Hits of the World charts section on billboard.com, joining existing lists for Billboard-branded licensees in Argentina, Italy, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam, along with longstanding third-party partner charts. Each new ranking is based on song consumption methodology, blending streaming and sales data, unique for each territory.
