I'm so hooked to this song rn For context, this is Japan's Blinding Lights. This song does have quite the lengthy run on the Japan Hot 100, but it's not out of the ordinary for the Japanese charts considering so many of the songs on their charts have had absurdly long chart runs. That is very true, one great example is Lemon by Yonezu Kenshi, which topped the Billboard Japan year-end charts in 2018 AND 2019.

So Do We Have A Problem (DWHAP?) is #1 on AM, #4 on Spotify, #1 on iTunes (looks to be outselling Bruno 4-to-1). Bruno is #1 on Spotify, #6 on AM, and #2 on iTunes. It depends massively on whether streams dropoff hard, but if DWHAP can hold relatively stable, it could challenge for #1. Bruno's a pretty weak #1 all things considered. If that doesn't happen though, a top 5 should be doable. What about YouTube? Plus, what are the odds "SDWHAP" holds on to its numbers? 885k day 1 US

Disappointing to see the falls for the Mitski songs though not surprised and those first day numbers were still good for her.

Lol this keeps being addressed as just "Nicki's single" when a huge draw behind it, and the main reason for its streaming performance so far is most likely Lil Baby.
If you've paid attention to Apple Music's chart the last 3 years, basically every new Lil Baby single will go #1. "My Turn" was the top album of 2020, and is still top 20 in its 100th week charting.
For him to collaborate with an A-list rapper, it's basically a guaranteed top 10. There is no way Lil Baby would do a standalone single with a Nicki/Drake/Cole/Kendrick/Cardi/etc level name or something and it'd miss top 10 right now in his career.
I guess at this point he just needs to get a crossover hit in order for him to stop going over y'alls radars. Also once he drops his next studio album people will probably finally realize how big he's gotten.

Salvaging Sacrifice's run will be difficult, but One Right Now turned out to be a decent hit stateside (and Moth to a Flame globally), so Abel does have that. I think that his team should be getting ready to properly and actively push Out of Time around spring with live performances on award shows and a video, since I could see it doing perfectly fine during the summer (That would also leave Less Than Zero as a viable option for a fall/winter push). While I doubt that the After Hours songs will fade by then, Dawn FM will hopefully be engrained enough in people's heads by then that they'll catch onto the next single.

It's being marketed as Nicki's lead tho. And she's the one on the cover of RapCaviar and the like. I'm not saying Lil Baby is not helping, but let's be honest this flopping would hurt Nicki way more than LB and it's her team that had to go the extra mile to get her back on Spotify's good graces. It's for sure playing the fence of being meant as Nicki's moment while also trying to benefit largely from Lil Baby's name. There's a reason her label gave him a co-credit and he's on the song for less than 1 minute with 1 verse. It doesn't sound like it'll be a strong hit in the end tbh. She is a feature artist at this point, and tends to put out hit material when she is given a direction to follow off someone else's song. Anytime she's releasing her own new singles and creatively in charge these days it's eh.

I wonder if these discussions were happening when Cardi dropped “WAP.” We’re people highlighting that it wasn’t a solo hit, or does that only happen with Nicki?
It was a smart move for Nicki to enlist Lil Baby, because this felt like a relaunch for her and she played it correctly. Nobody is denying that Lil Baby didn’t help her with streams. But it’s a set up to get her the momentum she had been missing for a moment. Everybody wins here.

Well that wasn't a song with two lead artists so. Also the point made was not to discredit Nicki, but to give Lil Baby credit since he unanimously wasn't acknowledged. Everyone was acknowledging Megan's verse/contribution to WAP when it dropped and was being discussed.

I think Abel should salvage what he can with One Right Now and let the Dawn FM era just run its course. Then, take a year or two break. With the first 2 singles (TMB and Sacrifice) underperforming, it's highly unlikely that Abel will score a major hit with Dawn FM. I think they should push “Out of Time” next. It seems like it can be the surprise hit on the album that can get massive airplay along with solid streaming. Then after that I’d stop with the singles.

Best Friends Best Friends Best Friends
Imma keep saying it, that's the best song on Dawn FM & the most compatible with radio. Not like my comments on here are gonna reach Abel and his team or anything, realistically they're probably gonna go for Out Of Time, which is fine

They are already setting up Out Of Time so I think that we can fully expect that. It is one of the two fan favourite songs that could blow up massively imo so I think it is the safest pick actually, since it also sounds nothing like his AH singles. They should put most of the promo budget behind a push for this when One Right Now ends it's run (so probably mid-to-late-March). I don't agree that they should necessary give up on singles after that though. Best Friends Best Friends Best Friends Imma keep saying it, that's the best song on Dawn FM & the most compatible with radio. Not like my comments on here are gonna reach Abel and his team or anything, realistically they're probably gonna go for Out Of Time, which is fine I'll say this - if I were Abel's team I'd send this to urban radio about half way through Out Of Time's push and give it some playlisting and see if it does anything. If people do gravitate towards it then it could be the single after Out Of Time, if not, Less Than Zero is the safer choice with more potential for going viral so they should go for that instead and push it during the late August-mid-October window. If Best Friends does pick up then they could push Less Than Zero in 2023 as the final single, if not, they could probably make Don't Break My Heart or something the final single

if there's any songs that deserve a pushes from Dawn FM, it's Out of Time, Starry Eyes, and Less Than Zero. Even Gasoline has a really good hook.
no offense, Best Friends is easily the worst song on Dawn FM
