Can somebody please explain to me Billboard's recurrent rules and why Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home) isn't allowed to re-enter the charts if it's currently top 50 on radio and gaining? Makes no sense to me, does it have to have enough points to be in the top 50 and it doesn't at this point? It's only gaining on radio? That's not enough to re-enter, also, it's faaar from the top 50 - #14 on Hot 100 Recurrents. The only song (#1) from that chart that is in the top 50 is Blinding Lights, but it's not allowed to re-enter because it spent 52+ weeks on chart.

"Drunk" is #15 on Country Songs, so it wouldn't be top 50 on the Hot 100.

Nicki's new song will be out this Friday. It's gone semi-viral on TikTok. No it has not. It will not have nearly the same playlisting either and the fans have very well spent most of their money on this single lmao. I mean, videos have hundreds of thousands of likes and millions of views with the audio, I would consider that semi-viral. We've seen time and time again playlisting isn't needed if the song goes viral, which may or may not happen, who knows. You're also quite ignorant to say that fans have spent "most of their money" on this single when they probably spent max $5 for the different versions. Relax, let's see what happens.

The problem is Billboard’s recurrent rules aren’t well-defined, and they have been applied inconsistently. They don’t bring back D(AIDWGH), yet they allow Fair Trade back on the chart, even though it’s not currently being promoted on radio. And let’s not forget how Take My Breath was allowed back on the charts during Dawn FM release week, even though a few months earlier they kept Holy recurrent during Justice release week. I like Abel and despise Bieber, but that was just wrong. I’d much rather have a Top 50 chart with no recurrent rules. At least that chart is accurate.

Idk why they didn't let Holy to chart (if it had enough points?), but you shouldn't put those 2 songs in the same box.

Now that it's charting, I think I can safely say Infinity is one of the worst pop songs to chart in a while. Easily the worst song to debut this week (yes, even worse than that Chainsmokers song and X's label re-releasing a more than 6 year old song on streaming services). Pls don't make this a hit on radio. ...I love Infinity. My opposites theory holds up i mean u also said We Don't Talk About Bruno is "objectively genius" wtf was that about Also yeah, I'll stand by it: Infinity is awful, I have no idea what people see in it outside of a mildly catch chorus

There's realistically no way nickis song is challenging. It's streams are not high enough and the sales will very obviously be filtered w/ the new rules. It's very easily going to encanto Nicki's new song will be out this Friday. It's gone semi-viral on TikTok. Makes me wonder, why they release the non-viral song first then

Why does Nicki's webstore still allow 4 copies per purchase? Won't they get reduced/discarded? Did Billboard not directly tell labels about the new rule or is her team just that terrible lol? There are also sites out there like Privacy that allow people to use virtual cards for purchases by linking to your bank account or debit card. Just with the basic service - cost $0 -, you get 10-12 “virtual” cards per month, all with unique numbers. This means that someone can technically purchase the same version of an artist’s song 12 times using this method and each one should count as a “unique” purchase, thereby meeting Billboard’s mandate. This is what Nicki Minaj’s fans are doing. They’re getting people to sign up for Privacy and then using these virtual cards to cheat Billboard’s new rules. If Billboard is tracking purchases by card number as opposed to other unique identifiers such as email address, then it is possible that more of their purchases will count than anticipated. I say this because when buying records directly from an artist’ site, customers have to input an email address to complete purchase because the digital songs have to be sent out and retrieved for services to be considered fully rendered. The same individual could technically then make an unlimited amount of “unique” purchases on an artists site (because each card has a distinct number), while using the same email. If BillBoard isn’t tracking the email or other information that could help more definitively identify the actual individuals making purchases, then I don’t see much changing. With modern technology, there are endless amounts of digital card companies out there that people can refer to as a means of extra security and hiding payments. In this scenario then, BillBoard has made it more tedious (because you’ll need more virtual cards now to reach the same end result) but not impossible to cheat the system. There’s still a workable loophole for the determined fanbases willing to put in the extra work for their favs, if it means pushing them up the charts. You can even use Visa gift cards for this purpose, because each one has its own unique card number. Just saying, endless ways to cheat this rule with virtual cards, gift cards, etc. Now if Billboard is tracking email addresses too…it’s a different ballgame. Havind to setup different accounts to obtain new email addresses creates an extra burden that will be a lot more difficult to overcome than say, getting digital cards. Ultimately, it boils down to how Billboard is validating unique purchases. Are they tracking the card number or actual identifying details like email addresses or IP addresses? If the former, it may be business as usual for some of the bigger artists with massive fanbases.

Could we expect the first global 200 (excl US) #1 not charting in the US at all? "Brividi" by Mahmood and Blanco is pulling in over 2 MILLION streams in Italy for the last few days. That is more than any song in the US this year. What more, it peaked at 3,400,000 streams (and stuck at over 3 milion for a few days). Those are absolutely unbelievable numbers. Given that the US' population is around 5 times larger than Italy's, it would amount to about 18 milion streams in the US if using such a multiplier. Almost thrice as much as Girls Want Girls. This might honestly be the biggest regional hit on Spotify we've ever experienced

Regardless of charts, that is $ in the bank. So greed might be involved rather than chart glory. If that's the case then why not allow them to purchase 1,000 copies at once? The 4 purchase limit was specifically done by labels to maximize what counted for the charts. 4 copies could count as 4 sales. 5+ were then reduced to 1. Now that the purchase limit was changed they should've adjusted for it. It would be interesting if Billboard actually never ending up changing the 4 copies rule and that one blog just mistakenly said that lol.

Total Streams of Save Your Tears: 510,388 Are we going to keep tracking this until the second coming of Jesus? I love Abel and all, but it's beyond time to let this one go, lol. You see why the argument of "The Weeknd should've waited until the After Hours singles were gone before dropping" doesn't work because the general public refuses to let Save Your Tears and Blinding Lights go. It would be easy now to expect these 2 year old singles to be gone from the charts but people keep streaming them. How long should Abel have to wait? Those two singles are gonna haunt the rest of his career.
