16SoMoBlue RosePoints: 82 STDEV: 8.180 (HIGHEST) Okay, I have a soft spot for SoMo. I discovered him back in my freshman year of college, and wouldn't you know it he ended up performing at my college that very same year (as the opening act for B.o.B lol). "Ride" had a mini viral moment in my area as well. I personally dug his debut EP, particularly "Oh, Hell," "Rush," and "Kings & Queens" (not Ava Max, sorry to avatar). Since then, though, he's been largely hit or miss with me. "Blue Rose," though, was a huge hit for me. It reached #1 on my personal chart and had a lengthy run overall. I know it's not particularly a "good" song and its performance in the last Madness tournament was... hilarious, but I love this one, okay. We all have those songs that we love inexplicably that not many others enjoy. Gotta say, though, I fully expected this to come in dead last here too. Yet it almost escaped the bottom five. SoMo's music is often "5-star but also 1-star" for me and this meets the criteria; he can still deliver a bop! Was totally not expecting his transformation into Cletus Spuckler's brother, however.

15KILLBOYU + MEPoints: 82 STDEV: 3.402 (2ND LOWEST) KILLBOY showed up in my Discover Weekly with a track called "HIGH ON MY OWN SUPPLY" and I liked it well enough to save it to my library. Naturally, any artist that appears in my library I follow as well so I always know when they release new music. Only a couple weeks after stumbling across "SUPPLY," "HOW U GON'" was released which I really enjoyed, and that was when I knew KILLBOY would be someone to watch. But then she dropped "U + ME" just a few weeks later and this one was instant love for me. It has had amazing longevity on my personal chart and reached the top ten. The burn on this one for me is just incredibly low it's kind of crazy. This is definitely going to be an artist to watch for sure. Also, her Spotify bio is literally just a quote from SpongeBob SquarePants, so... Ranks.indulgecountry 7 Au$tin 8 samoπ¦ 10 Fire 13 SHOOTER 14 Az Paynter 14 Gonza'90 16

14Pale WavesShe's My ReligionPoints: 80 STDEV: 7.345 (4TH HIGHEST) "She's My Religion" was the second track released from Pale Waves' most recent album Who Am I?, which has a cover (and music) very clearly inspired by Avril Lavigne's Let Go. (I honestly don't know if it was technically a "single" or not, it's blurry when you start discussing bands/artists that don't normally release music to radio or create many music videos anyway.) When I first heard it, I was still obsessed with the album's lead, "Change," and kind of let this one fly under my radar for a bit. But when the album dropped, this one suddenly clicked with me and I was obsessed. It has gone on to become their most successful track for me on my personal chart. Also, I showed it to my wife and she loved it too, even more than I did, and it wound up being her #1 track on her 2021 Spotify Wrapped. I cannot recommend this album enough if you enjoyed this track. 13Maggie LindemannLonerPoints: 77 STDEV: 6.191 (5TH HIGHEST) Can you believe the same girl that had a minor pop hit in 2017 with "Pretty Girl" is now producing music like this? And even scored some alt radio cred? The 2020s are crazy. "Loner" was one of the buzz tracks for Maggie's PARANOIA album (EP?). I will be honest, I wasn't a big fan of the album. A lot of the tracks just blended together and weren't all the musically interesting. But "Loner" stuck out to me (as did "Knife Under My Pillow," and unfortunately neither of them are the one that charted on alt lol). Put me down as one of the people totally ecstatic that pop/punk is coming back into style and giving us songs like these. That being said, this one has burned on me pretty harshly as of late. 12Rain City Drive (fka Slaves)SecretsPoints: 76 STDEV: 4.880 I am actually quite shocked to see this exit now given its good performance in the madness rankdown. "Secrets" is a track from Slaves' To Better Days album, their last album before renaming themselves to Rain City Drive. This should come as no surprise, but I go into Slaves when they were featured in a madness game a few years back. I don't even remember who submitted them, but it was the track "Body on Fire." Since then I've been following them and liking a large part of their output. "Secrets" has wound up being one of my favorites from their most recent album, but they have many, many jams. I high recommend their two efforts since renaming themseves, "Dreams" and "Cutting It Close." RanksAu$tin 5 Gonza'90 6 Az Paynter 7 .indulgecountry 13 SHOOTER 13 samoπ¦ 14 Fire 18

11The EveningTold YaPoints: 75 STDEV: 6.075 Just like Slaves/Rain City Drive, The Evening is another band I discovered through the madness games when someone submitted "Obsession," which to date is a song I still absolutely fucking love so damn much holy shit. This is the band's most recent single released at the end of 2020, so I think it's safe to say they aren't dropping tracks all that quickly. I didn't immediately enjoy this one, but it has since grown on me. A cute little indie bop. 10CannonsLove ChainedPoints: 73 STDEV: 5.623 Should come as no surprise to anyone that knows this band that I discovered them when they first started gaining buzz with "Fire for You," which eventually turned into a sizeable alternative hit. "Love Chained" comes from the same EP as that one. I actually quite enjoy this EP. "Love Chained" is my second favorite from it after "Fire for You." I love that modern spin on the 50s doo-wop ballad it has, and I am so happy it seems you guys liked it too given that it made the top ten. Unfortunately, I don't much care for their recent output, but this track along with its EP will definitely keep Cannons on my watchlist. 9Moe Chaieb/Claire RidgelyFly OffPoints: 73 STDEV: 4.467 Claire Ridgely popped up in my Discover Weekly a while back with her bonafide bop "All I Ever Wanted," which I submitted to a previous madness tournament. Not too long after that song was a success with me, "Fly Off" popped up in my Release Radar. To this day, I still have no flipping clue who Moe Chaieb is, but I'm assuming they are the producer of the track, and if that's the case, they show some serious promise here. "Fly Off" is another cute bop in the same vein as "All I Ever Wanted," and I really wish that this sound was prominent in the pop mainstream. 8Delaney JaneJust SexPoints: 67 STDEV: 3.780 (3RD LOWEST) "Just Sex" is a single from Delaney Jane's debut album, Somewhere Else. "Somewhere Else" popped up in my Discover Weekly and I enjoyed it well enough. But when her album dropped, "Just Sex" was an immediate standout. It's pure pop at its finest, very reminiscent of Carly Rae Jepsen. This girl is definitely one to watch. Perhaps not as a potential breakout mainstream act, but as someone to eventually gain a cult following, much like the afforementioned Jepsen as well as Charli XCX, Lorde, Tove Lo, and others. I first discovered Baby Queen through her debut single, "Internet Religion," after being featured on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist. It struck a chord with me and I have been a follower ever since. She is definitely hit-or-miss with me, but when she hits, she really hits. 6The VeronicasDid Ya ThinkPoints: 65 STDEV: 6.047 "Did Ya Think" sticks out like a sore thumb on this list. That is, at least if you know anything about the track. All other 19 tracks are relatively recent, coming from 2020 or 2021. "Did Ya Think," however, is actually a bonus track from The Veronicas' debut album, The Secret Life Of..., which released in 2005! The track, along with another one called "How Long," were released on the limited edition version of the album that I believe was only available in the US through online purchase. It also featured a bonus DVD. So, why is it here? Understandably, I did not own this online exclusive limited edition of the album, so I had never even known this song existed until Warner randomly dropped it onto streaming services last year. I wound up loving this track a lot, and this 2005 bonus track peaked at #2 on my personal chart in 2021 lol. 5Tyler Posey/phem/Travis BarkerShut UpPoints: 65 STDEV: 5.469 So... yeah. This is Scott McCall. (For the uninitiated, Tyler Posey is the star of the 2010s hit MTV show, Teen Wolf, loosely based on the 80s film.) This randomly showed up in my Discover Weekly and I instantly loved it. Though, oddly enough, it took me a couple listens before it dawned on me why the artist's name sounded so familiar. Then I took a look at the (unfortunate) single cover and was blown away. I had no idea Tyler could sing. But, anyway, I love this little throwback track to the mid-late 2000s pop/punk stuff. phem's vocals are also really pleasant. And Travis Barker... earned his 5000th paycheck of 2021 with this one lol. (Who won't he work with? Because he literally did a Christmas song with Kris Jenner.) 4ALMA/Tove LoWorst BehaviourPoints: 64 STDEV: 2.968 (LOWEST) I think everyone on Pulse knows who Tove Lo is at this point. She's one of the most famous "cult" popstars on the internet, alongside the likes of Charli XCX, Lorde, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Lana Del Rey. ALMA also belongs in that same category, though definitely not in the same tier. That being said, these two talented songwriters came together to produce what I can only describe as a "chill banger." It is from ALMA's debut album, Have U Seen Her?. It's kind of surprising to me that this one didn't get more attention given the collaboration, but perhaps that could be due to the fact that it's not a huge upbeat pop track? RanksAz Paynter 6 SHOOTER 6 .indulgecountry 8 Fire 9 Au$tin 9 samoπ¦ 12 Gonza'90 14 I love how this was in no one's top five, yet it wound up at #4 because it's the song we all mostly agreed upon as being one of the better ones in the list lol.

2Hayey WilliamsSugar on the RimPoints: 47 STDEV: 7.544 (3RD HIGHEST) "Sugar on the Rim" was an album track from Hayley's debut solo album Petals for Armor. Despite not being a major single, the track wound up not only being a huge success on my personal chart, it actually wound of being one of the biggest hits of 2021 for me! I haven't ran the data yet to actually determine a 2021 year-end chart (because I've kind of lost interest in year-end lists), but if I were to do so, there's not doubt in my mind it would be in the top five at the very least, if not top two fighting with "Midnight Sky" for the pole position. Their first LP in 14 years. And they did not disappoint in the slightest. a touch is probably my favorite album of 2021, with really only Happier Than Ever and If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power coming close to it. (And their Aussie variant's two albums of 2021, GODZILLA and Human follow that in a not-too-distant 4th and 5th place.) "Listen!!!" wasn't as instant for me as "Slow Dancing," but it was a major grower and has wound up being one of my favorites from the album.
