Released in late 2019 as the third and final single from New Zealand pop sensation Benee's EP "Stella & Steve," the track ended up being the lead-single to her debut studio album "Hey x u" in 2020. The single gained steam in early 2020 during the first wave of COVID-19 lockdowns, and you could see why from its subject matter and title. "Supalonely" ended up becoming Benee's breakout single worldwide, reaching all the way up to the Top 20 in the UK and No. 39 in the US (also No. 7 on US Pop Radio).
I still really like this track a lot, it's a bit dated despite not really being that old, probably because of the early era of COVID being sorta nostalgic in a weird way now. However it's still a really catchy pop song. I could write for hours about how underrated Benee is and how many good tracks she has put out since her biggest hit but I'll let it slide for now (at least until August when "Snail" becomes 2 years old).

"Supalonely" is one of those songs that truly gives early COVID-19 lockdown flashbacks, the song captures that sentiment very well. It's part of my "Early Lockdown/TikTok trend" songs alongside "death bed" and "If The World Was Ending". While I'm glad it manages to enter the 2020 YE, I do wish it should've peaked higher.

This might capture that bizarre summer 2020 vibe better than any other song and I really appreciate it for that. The song itself is mostly good but a bit lackluster. Gusโ part stands out for sure

I thought I wouldnโt hear from BENEE again after this, but her output since has been suuuuuper good.
I was OBSESSED with this song. Iโve totally overplayed it by now but itโs so fun and nostalgic.

I still find myself coming back to this song from time to time. It really feels like an encapsulation of the time and the two artists have better chemistry together than I would have thought.

This song is criminally underrated. This was my jam during the first few months of the pandemic.
