Someone made a very good point on Twitter. It could be for GH Decade #2. If she was going to release one, this is 10 years since the first collection. Although, in the streaming era, I don't see a point, and would tank, but UMG does still release them. Wouldn't make sense, but with UMG it's possible. I guess if they had a "Something In The Water" size smash it would be fine. But still, not the move I'd like to see them make. I'd guess it's to promote Vegas. Maybe she'll announce more dates and do a few performances that are similar to the show (if that's possible).

I just think a GH#2 would be a silly thing to do now that there is streaming. I understand why GH albums existed before streaming but now it just seems like a silly thing to do and something of the past since most people can access an artist’s work on streaming.

I mean personally, I would want a GH#2 for completion sake because the first one is literally called 'Decade #1' lol.

Although, in the streaming era, I don't see a point, and would tank, but UMG does still release them. I could see why they might very well go for it though, seeing as how other artists (some from her own generation) have had streaming success with their own GH releases in recent years. The only question would be, is Sony willing to cross-promote with UMG? If I recall correctly, Sony still owns the masters/publishing/etc. to Storyteller, where the four most recognizable Decade #2 hits reside. Unless she does Carrie’s Versions of them, that seems like an obstacle. The other question is this…what will constitute the best hits from Decade #2? D&R only has a Top 5 in “Ghost Story” and Cry Pretty only has a #1 in “Southbound.” and a Top 5 in the title track. Will they include those Top 5 hits? Will “Drinking Alone” and “Out of That Truck” get the axe? IIDLY is certain to be on the record, as that was her biggest hit in years at the time, and I imagine “The Fighter” will be there as well, as that was Carrie’s first official single (and #1) with UMG. I’d also wager that HGTA will appear. And the biggest question…will she decide to tack on brand-new-songs, like she did with Decade #1? That alone might very well be the biggest draw for a lot of people. If it were indeed GH Decade #2, it would probably release around August as her GMA appearance is August 2, and that would mean she needs to announce it within the next couple weeks and have a new song ready to go if she put new songs on it. Knowing her though, I’d wager that it’s Vegas, like everyone else is saying. Seems like such a silly thing to take up an entire GMA concert date for though, imo.

Just please no demo recordings as “bonus material”, what a complete waste of space on GH#1… I found it to be so lazy.
They could’ve given us unreleased tracks, re-recordings of hits, live concert tracks, but instead they gave us demos that are, frankly, hard to listen to. For behind the scenes video content, sure, but just NO as album tracks.
Getting way ahead of myself because I still think 2024 will be a year without new music from Carrie. I’d love to be wrong, but the summer concert thing is probably Vegas related, having nothing to do with new music.

Honestly regarding Sony, I wonder if they could somehow buy the masters for Storyteller. As for the other stuff I still think that all her UMG material was a hit. Yes, including HMH and OOTT. Were they the bonified smashes that made her Carrie Underwood, no, but top 20 is still respectable. I personally think that Somethin Bad Smoke Break Heartbeat Church Bells Dirty Laundry The fighter The champion Cry pretty Love wins Southbound Drinking alone Hallelujah How great tho art Nothing but the blood of Jesus or GITF If I didn’t love you Ghost story Hate my heart Out of that truck Should all be fair game, if they can work agreements out with the other labels. Heck, let the Cody duet serve as the lead single from it. And maybe add some additional new tracks. Maybe even some special things, I remember she said there was a 5-6 minute version of Cry Pretty, throw it in!

HGTA was on the Decade #1 track list so hoping that wouldn’t take up space on a hypothetical Decade #2 track list. I hope she just pretends #1 never happened and saves any new songs for a full new album next year.

I would be fully supportive of Carrie doing something next year (or maybe this year) that continues to reflect on her journey thus far. I realize that's what the point of the Vegas residency is, but...for all intents and purposes, it's basically a Greatest Hits show as it is. I want a bit more focus on the B-sides.
I would LOVE some sort of revisit to Some Hearts next year. Maybe a full-on "Carrie's Version" or even just a "Some Hearts Live!" type of concept. By far Carrie's most successful album, I think revisiting it 20 years later would be a fantastic full circle moment.
I don't hate the idea of her doing a covers album either tbh. Maybe we get studio versions of some of her Idol performances (with 2024 vocals) like "Alone", "Independence Day", "Angels Brought Me Here", "Crying", etc. I don't necessarily want all of them, but it'd be nice to get a few and maybe some of the more prolific covers she's done over the years. Things like "Home Sweet Home", "Praying for Time", maybe "Welcome to the Jungle", etc.
I will always be ready for new Carrie music but I'm lowkey ready for another side hustle type of project from her a la My Gift/My Saviour.

It would be so like Carrie to do a covers album and put “Independence Day”, “Home Sweet Home”, and “I’ll Stand By You” on it when we already have studio recordings of those haha.
But I’m here for a covers album, just not quite yet imo. I need her to come back with an undeniable smash hit as the next lead single so she can stay radio-relevant a bit longer. Then once we know that’s not gonna happen anymore (honestly unfortunately could be after the next album or two) then get a covers album of rock and/or traditional country songs. Please no gospel/christian music. But I need a solo full studio recording of “Alone” one of these days. She knows we all need it so I hope she eventually delivers. But I don’t want these side projects just yet. This next era is gonna be pivotal to determining her radio/streaming relevancy moving forward and I don’t want her to move to legacy act status yet 😢

I just have a hard time believing that it's just promo for Vegas. Even if it's just a lead single launch, I'll take it, lol. I do think that it's a good sign that Carrie is doing these TV morning concerts again. Hopefully they will do more when she does releases a new album.

Totally grasping here, but August 2nd is 2 weeks before Post drops his country album. Wishful thinking, but maybe he special guests for a debut performance of a new duet.

I felt like something was up when her creative director, Barry Lather, attended the Fan Club Party. I just don’t buy that he came to Nashville for a 30 minute interview with Carrie.
