I typically like Travis Tritt as well, but "More Than You'll Ever Know" is one of his more forgettable ballads to me, in a year that is brutally strong! In this case a 97 is still firmly within my "like" zone, lol.
Shocked to see Lorrie out already!!!! "By Your Side" has a pretty basic melody upon first listen, but it is an absolute ear worm the more you listen to it! I have been making an effort to dive deeper into Lorrie's catalog pretty much ever since we did her singles rankdown, and this one is very frequently stuck in my head, lol. I do almost feel like this would be better received if Jon weren't a part of it.

There isn't a single female song in this list that deserves to be out even remotely as low as Lorrie or Mila ended up.

While I like Mila Masons song and would have preferred to see it higher but even then not much higher. I would say there are a couple female led songs that should be leaving relatively soon. "Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands" "Some Things Are Meant To Be" "Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore)" "I Just Might Be" I'd say those 4 should be out before the top 70. I would personally like to see "No One Needs To Know" and "Guys Do It All The Time" included with them but I expect them to do a lot better than that.

I was almost mad, but then I realized that since "Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands" is on that list, he must have meant "should be out before the top 7". Easy mistake to make, accidentally adding zeros where they don't belong And I agree that top 7 would be a realistic threshold for most of those songs to not be able to meet!

Now wait a minute, why are we even talking about "Ring On Her Finger" already when "Starting Over Again" is in this rankdown The former is an iconic Reba Classic that fits flawlessly right alongside all her biggest hits from the '90s without sounding out of place, and the latter is like her most dated and forgotten song of the entire decade

"Ring On Her Finger" is a good song but I love just about every song on this list and that song is just near the bottom for me as a result. It would seriously be a shame to see any of the songs I mention make the top half...

It's going to be a painful rankdown for sure regardless of what happens! The next set of reveals will be painful for a few amongst the group as one participant will lose their runner-up song shortly. For two others, however, that'll come as a relief as they'll shed a bottom 5. And on that note, let's find out which five songs leave next which will round out our bottom 30!

"Heart's Desire" was released as the third single from Lee Roy Parnell's album We All Get Lucky Sometimes and peaked at number three early that year. It was his last top 10 hit on the country chart. This managed to pick up two of its highest rankings early into its run which allowed this to jump all the way up into the top 50. Even though that would be short-lived, it still maintained a relatively steady run over the course of the rankdown. In the last quarter, however, both bboat11 and LBTrocks would join austin with a bottom 5 ranking which unfortunately also ended up pushing this back into the bottom 30. Four other participants lose a top half which included a trio of top 30s from ccarter1023, gardyfan, and CoJoFan. While this song isn't a particular favorite of mine, I do enjoy most of Lee Roy Parnell's output especially his other releases from the early '90s. He had two additional top 15 hits this year which I'll be highlighting in another showcase of songs that did not make the rankdown.

"Ready, Willing and Able" was released in December 1995 as the first single from the late Lari White's album Don't Fence Me In and was a Top 20 hit for her in early 1996. This had a bit of a rough start out of the gate in the bottom 5 and was also one of our early contenders for last place. You can thank yours truly for that as I was one of two participants who ranked this in their bottom 5. And despite this garnering seven rankings all within the top half, it just was never able to shake off the handful of rankings it received down inside the bottom 20 and 30. Both .indulgecountry and toomuchboy unfortunately lose a top 45 ranking while myself and kw9461 lose a bottom 2.

"That Ol' Wind" was released by Garth Brooks in September 1996 as the sixth and final single from his album Fresh Horses and was a Top 5 for him later that fall. While this might've started off as an initial top 20 thanks to myself, it quickly vaulted back into the bottom 30 and even made a brief appearance down inside the bottom 20. It was able to rebound somewhat in the last half of its run thanks to kw9461 ranking this as their #2 song of the year. Both .indulgecountry and LBTrocks had something to say about that, however, as they came in at the last minute with back-to-back bottom 5 rankings the the latter being a bottom 2. It should come as no surprise then that this managed to clock in as our second most polarizing song with someguy losing a top 25 and castleoblivion26 losing a top 40. While I'm not entirely shocked to see this wonderful song exit already, it nonetheless is still disappointing as this has always been one of my favorites from the year. I'll never quite understand all the vitriol that gets thrown Garth's way from those here on Pulse .

"I Do" was released in July 1996 as the second single from Paul Brandt's debut album. Calm Before the Storm and reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. It is his most successful song to date and his highest-charting song in the United States. This started off at its lowest point of the rankdown down inside the bottom 5 thanks to myself. It mostly found itself hovering in and around the bottom 30 for the better part of its run as the seven overall bottom 30 rankings it picked up kept it from being able to take advantage of the support it did receive. That included a top 5 from CoJoFan as well as a top 30 from kw9461. My bottom 5 ranking for this was probably a bit harsh as I quite enjoy this song as well as Paul's debut album. That said, this just isn't one that I frequently have a desire to want to revisit much from the year.

"Long as I Live" was released in February 1996 as the fifth and final single John Michael Montgomery's self-titled album released the year prior and went on to be a Top 5 hit for him in early spring. This had a rather consistent run overall as it found itself hovering in and around the bottom 30 for the most part. Four participants in all placed this inside their top half which included a lone top 30 from CoJoFan. While no one placed this in their bottom 5, it did pick up a pair of bottom 10s from both Kanenrá:ke and bboat11. The majority of the group, however, ranked this somewhere between their 60s and 80s. This is John Michael's third and finial song of the rankdown as both "Ain't Got Nothing On Us" and "Cowboy Love" bexited in the bottom 10.

it's going not bad, I haven't lost many high rankings yet, which is unusual for me on any YE RDs. Glad that the correct Paul Brand song left first, but hoping to see My Heart Has A History would stick around for a while.
