Please pick your five favorite female artists from this list. I didn't include legands like Dolly, Lorette, and Reba, as I'm curious about the popularity of artists whose career peak is more recent or yet to come Please share your top 5 and provide your reasoning!

Choosing was difficult for me, as I like many of these artists, but currently, I'll go with:
1. Carrie - She is my favorite artist of all time and has owned my stan card since 2005. I've always loved following her career and love watching her continue to develop as an entertainer. I'm always in awe of how she's one person off-stage and then a totally different person when she's performing. Her voice is just so untouchable to me by any other artist I've ever listened to. It's totally subjective, but her voice does it for me.
2. Kacey - "Merry Go 'Round" was such a musical moment. I enjoyed Same trailer and Pagent Material albums. I liked that she did her own thing and had a traditional sound that wasn't the most popular at the time but executed very well. And then she released Golden Hour and took my stan card as well. That album is probably my 2nd favorite album of all time behind Lorde's Melodrama. It's perfect. "Star-crossed" hasn't hit the same for me, but I still adore her and she's one of the best in the industry IMO.
3. Ingrid - I find her to be such a strong songwriter. "More Hearts Than Mine" is one of my favorites, if not my favorite song from the past few years. It's perfect. I also think she has an interesting sound. It's poppy and country and I feel like she's a singer-songwriter at heart. I feel like she can carve a niche in the genre.
4. Carly - Loved "Every Little Thing" and enjoyed her debut album as a whole. For some reason, I never listened to self-titled that much. 29: Written In Stone is such a fantastic album with a sound that I'd kill for Carrie to swing around to on her next album (after D&R). I'm glad the album is getting the recognition it deserves. Also, I just really enjoy her voice, it's super emotive.
5. Tenille Townes - Okay, while I may actually like some of my honorable mentions more, I just love Tenille's voice and have been playing her a lot lately. I know her vocals seem to be super devisive, but I think her voice is really distinct, pleasing, and special. "Jersey On The Wall" and "Somebody's Daughter" are two incredible songs for me that make me think (for lack of a better word), which country music doesn't always do. I lean into them when I hear them. IDK how to articulate it.

Lauren Alaina - ridiculous vocalist and an underrated songwriter; been in the game longer than most people on this list and still sounds fresh Maren Morris - future of the genre, GIRL is one of my most played albums Tenille Townes - pure soul with brilliantly different sounding vocals, melodies, and perspectives Ingrid Andress - Lady Like was just such a good album that she skyrocketed to my top 5; hoping whatever is next is just as good Carly Pearce - 29 changed everything about my opinion on her. Unbelievable songwriter.

This list has a glaring omission without Callista Clark!!! She's the one that I have pegged for "big star" among the ladies who are just starting out. Nobody has a voice like hers, so she really stands out from the crowd!
Of the ones that are here, I vote: Carrie Underwood Gabby Barrett Maren Morris Kelsea Ballerini Tenille Arts
(Also I'm moving this into the sub-forum)

Funny how no replies actually provide reasoning...
Ashley McBryde - heart wrenching lyrics and powerful vocals Caitlyn Smith - underrated vocalist and great country pop sounds Carly Pearce - solid lane in 90s country shown in 29: Written in Stone Miranda Lambert - varied sounds and theme and great side projects Kacey Musgraves - smart lyrics (at least first two albums) and comforting voice
Also, no Ashley Monroe?

Sorry if I left off a fave, I knew I'd forget some prominent ladies. Also, I created the thread, requested that users post their reasoning, shared my list, and forgot to provide reasons myself 1. I lean into them when I hear them. IDK how to articulate it. Miranda would probably be the next on my list, but her latest three songs from her upcoming album haven't connected with me yet, so I gave Tenille her spot. While I listen to many artists on this list in some capacity and enjoy certain songs by each artist, these are the ones I listen to the most consistently.

Current
Kelsea Ballerini- probably my favorite female country singer since Shania.
Lauren Alaina- got a handful of songs that should have went top ten.
Mackenzie Porter- I like to listen to Canadian country, seeing other people is one of her best.
Carly Pearce- she’s pretty solid. Next girl is a jam.
Meghan Patrick- she’s everything Miranda is but much better.
90s females
Shania Twain Faith Hill Martina McBride Patty loveless Terri Clark

As for why I chose the ones I did, I usually focus on the songs themselves. So if 5 different singers were to sing the discographies of the 5 I mentioned, and improved a bit on them, they would be the 5 favorites. However, I do think Mickey and Danielle have great voices.

Hoping that Hannah Dasher and Hailey Whitters can break through to make the list someday, otherwise, Carly, Lauren, Morgan, Pricilla, and Tenille (T).
