Don't Think Jesus Monday update β still more than a 2:1 lead on iTunes and #2 on Apple Music. Still #3 on Spotify. Possibility the top 3 will be 1: Harry 2: Morgan 3: Jack? How much do you think it will actually sell? It takes about 3.5k in sales to equal 1 million streams (that's an estimate because it of course depends on the type of stream).

Abel did just release his Thursday mixtape vinyls early last week (they were actually supposed to ship April 29 as well) so he is capable of actually doing that.

That racist MAGA won't get his #1, right?
I guess his KKK brethren didn't come thru for him after all.

I'm pretty sure kim meant '40', it was a typo. I did mean top 49. oh π€ sorry for speaking on your behalf, I thought it was a typo because 9 and 0 are next to each other... also, yes at Kendrick! Finally!

I've found you can usually get a good sense by looking at how it's doing vs the more stable songs. According to kworb, it's outsold: - Shivers 9:1 (sold ~3k last week)
- Cold Heart 8:1 (sold ~5k last week)
- Big Energy 4:1 (sold ~10k last week)
So with that (also knowing that it'll continue to slow down a bit), I would think somewhere from like 20k-35k sales? Basically, tack on an extra 50-60 chart points to whatever it gets from streaming.

hopefully the charts will be looking VERY different after literally 4 weeks in a row of album bombs
more importantly than that however I cannot believe we're actually getting a new Kendrick album in less than a month

The Weeknd can breathe a sigh of relief once Save Your Tears is officially wiped off the charts, After Hours can officially begone General public doesn't care about charts. It's not like people suddenly stop consuming the old music. They aren't thinking "hey look, SYT just dropped from Hot 100, time to start consuming his new music!"

OoT is doing OK on radio but streaming is not promising so far. I'm sure the label is very confused about what they can do right now.

This puts into perspective on how packed this spring is and iβm all in for this. Iβm happy for trap/hip hop fans but whereβs the big pop releases?

Well Until the big artists drop, the GP just needs to start listening to new/underground artists, otherwise the charts are gonna remain dead

She probably won't get a full album bomb, but she appears to have built up a sizable audience that will stream her stuff when it first comes out, so we could see some album tracks from her.

Post Malone is also supposedly dropping in May too, this is about to be the busiest non-Christmas related few weeks the hot 100 has seen in a long time... and that's not even factoring in the June releases like BTS lmao

well we can use it certainly. yesterday 4 songs at 600k, 3 of them being the last 3 weeks' big releases. How much do you think it will actually sell? It takes about 3.5k in sales to equal 1 million streams (that's an estimate because it of course depends on the type of stream). I've found you can usually get a good sense by looking at how it's doing vs the more stable songs. According to kworb, it's outsold: - Shivers 9:1 (sold ~3k last week)

2:1 big energy given all the versions. Or more precisely, 1.92:1.

I'm ready! New Kendrick!
I hope the rumours about Post Malone dropping that month are true too to add to the chart shakeup.
As for this week though... at least we're getting somewhere with As It Was and First Class being big hits.

WE'RE FINALLY GETTING GOOD MUSIC ON THE CHARTS AGAIN ππππππ *NEW music. The stuff we got now is good, just old af No, I mean good music, even the stuff that's old is not that good; though it really doesn't help that the best songs on the charts are more than 6 months old. And yeah, I know charts are never the barometer for quality but this time last year: it was easier to make a best hits list with the mid-year predictions and actually hard to make a worst hits. As of right now, I barely have new hits for the best songs list This puts into perspective on how packed this spring is and iβm all in for this. Iβm happy for trap/hip hop fans but whereβs the big pop releases? I mean considering how popular rap is, these ARE your pop releases: these are the releases that will shake-up the charts

How are we gonna get new stars if the GP refuses to listen to anything outside of big names?

Pusha T opened with 77k last time around, not sure if he is able to really shake things up on Hot 100.
Obviously the album can be great and that's why Complex brought it up.

Post Malone is also supposedly dropping in May too, this is about to be the busiest non-Christmas related few weeks the hot 100 has seen in a long time... and that's not even factoring in the June releases like BTS lmao I think Post should drop either in between the time frame of Harry and BTS or just drop it on the Pusha or Future week and get it over with. If Post drops alongside Jack Harlow, it could work but maybe also end up being a similar situation like Gunna and Abel earlier this year, so i wouldnβt recommend that just to be safe. Heβs obviously going to get absolutely annihilated if he drops on the Kendrick week so thatβs a huge red flag to consider. Thatβs why the time frames i suggested above works a lot more to Postβs advantage. Pusha T opened with 77k last time around, not sure if he is able to really shake things up on Hot 100. Obviously the album can be great and that's why Complex brought it up. I remember Daytona having a minor impact on the Hot 100 and this was slightly before the whole beef thing with (you know who), so he could βpushβ through with minor chart impacts.

If Post wants to play it smart and safe he should just release the album this month, if it is ready, since I assume that he should beat Future quite easily.
Future is probably the most overrated rapper (commercially, in the sense that the rap bubble thinks he's much bigger than he is in reality) alongside Thugger. Their influence on the modern scene is huge and they have a lot, and I mean a lot of connections in the industry, but they don't rarely do damage outside the hip-hop bubble.
Future will do something around 100k like he always does, while Post, who I doubt will do anything near 500k like last time, could potentially double Future's numbers. Even if he does just a quarter of what he did last time, it should be enough to debut at #1, especially since he already has a decent hit off the album.
Delaying the album more is a bigger risk than pushing it out now (if it is ready for release).
