In fact, it didn't chart at all in the Billboard Hot 100! It peaked at 22 in the Bubbling Under chart!
But it peaked at #13 in the Canadian Hot 100! #13, not #113.
It sounds like a rap song, and rap songs typically do a lot better in the Billboard Hot 100.
It may even make less sense that it didn't go to #1, or won't be in the decade-end! How many points does it have? Zero! None whatsoever!
Whatever You Like peaked at #12 in Canada, just one position higher, and in the Billboard Hot 100, it barely has more points than Joy To The World, which was #100 in the 2008 edition of the GOAT!

Short answer to the thread question - I had to look the song up - it is likely it didn't go top 10 because few people have heard of it
This to me makes more sense, a song no one has heard of not going to #1 or being on decade end.Β

...Because it didn't get enough points? I can't decipher most of this post though though so maybe I'm misunderstanding the question

It had a minimal run on pop radio and streaming never caught on. bbno$ has really only had one hit (Lalala) thanks to virality, but overall heβs a relatively underground artist compared to what charts. Edamame would need to go mega viral on tik tok or bbno$ just needs to promote something harder if he wants Hot 100 success

To try to answer your question, the reason Edamame got as high is it did in Canada is because of CanCon laws which mandate that Canadian radio stations must play a quota of domestic artists - bbno$ is from Vancouver. Not going try to decipher what the part about Whatever You Like means, though. Maybe it's GOAT chart lingo I'm too dumb to understand.

While I do love the song and would have enjoyed if it went top 10, the arguments in this main post don't particularly make sense. The argument that rap songs do good on the Hot 100 is an overgeneralization positing that every single rap song in existence should chart within the top 10. This is not logical.
Moreover, the example of "Whatever You Like" does not really apply here. The factors causing songs to chart has changed a lot since the 2000s, and now can include going viral on streaming platforms and TikTok. Radio success is less of a factor now in relation to the Hot 100 compared to when "Whatever You Like" was released, so the comparison isn't really accurate.
Different songs see different levels of success for a combination of a number of factors, and it can't be boiled down to something as simple as genre. It all depends on whether the song resonates with people or not, which can differ from country to country.

Here in Michigan the most popular music resembles the Canadian chart more than the American one. Not really on topic but still interesting. Anyway as for the OP: It's unanimously agreed that Canada just has better taste

Pretty sure I just watched him get kicked off the stage during his performance by security at the Juno Awards β unless that was somehow part of the set? Looked real to me lol.

It was definitely part of the set. Fits in with the whole shtick of his goofy character. However what wasn't part of the set was the microphone cutting in and out several times. Also my god he's kind of terrible live.

It deserved better!!! With all that pop airplay, I'm surprised it didn't even reach the Hot 100
And as an Armenian, it would be nice seeing an Armenian (bbno$) get a US hit (Cher teas)
