I'm not sure what I want the lead single to sound like. Probably more in line with NRO, midtempo with that classic Katy sound, then something super upbeat like When I'm Gone. Not sure if something slow like Harley's would blast off as lead, either. Any guesses? a collab maybe?

NRO and HIH were the right direction for her and I wouldn’t mind if she continues with that way. However, I hope she still experiments with some new sounds

when does the season end? Like in May? I thought the launch would happen sooner for new music, but that would be a good stepping stone, I guess. Was she free during Smile and Daisies, or was she also doing Idol at the same time during early Covid?

Idol was remote at the time but she even performed Daisies on Idol. My guess is we’ll get a lead single this spring with an Idol performance and then an album this summer followed by a tour in the fall. |

I’m pretty sure Katy’s new album is gonna have a butterfly theme. Talking about ‘spreading her wingspan’ in 2024 and Katy rocking butterflies on herself.

Have y'all read her last instagram post? While super sad, it was refreshing to see that she actually can write in a beautiful and heartfelt manner, far away from the overusage of emojis and corny phrases.
In it, she also said that she played Martin some of the new material she'll be putting out, describing it as something that "holds love and joy".
She also says that 143 is her lucky number since Daisy's birth and that since his passing she has seen it multiple times, which unrelated to the event but led some fans on twitter to think she might announce something on march 14th (wich btw is national butterfly day).
Lastly, RIP to Martin. From her description of him, you can tell he was a caring and hardworking man that will be missed by many.

I'm excited for new Katy. I hope she manages to have somewhat of a comeback. Even a Top 20 hit on the Hot 100 with some longevity would be great!

I think no one has this many huge hits from 3 albums. From IKAG to Dark Horse, 12/15 singles are at least 7x platinum and top 3 on the Hot 100.

Katy is currently the female artist with the most Diamond certified songs with 4 (Roar, Dark Horse, Firework, California Gurls). If her label gets LFN, HNC, TD, and ET certified Diamond, she would tie Post Malone as the artist with the most Diamond certified singles. That would also mean she has 5 Diamond singles from one album.
And I’m pretty sure Teenage Dream (album) is eligible for Diamond certification.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she reaches these milestones this year with KP6 coming soon.

Also if they certify Dark Horse, it would be the highest certified song from a woman in the US and the second overall, behind Sunflower i believe.
Her run between 2008 and 2014 was really crazy and also, despite a lower peak, Unconditionally has held preety well and it constantly outstreams some of her hits (mainly POM and ET), so with time it'll join too the club

I admittedly haven't followed Katy for years, but I've been visiting my parents who are full blown American Idol stans, so I've been forced into watching the first week episode 3 times now. And I just feel like Katy is holding back all the time. Everything she says on the show just seems to stilted and choreographed, zero personality shines through. I hope once it moves into live episodes and closer to her releasing new music, she can just let loose and be *fun* again.

I admittedly haven't followed Katy for years, but I've been visiting my parents who are full blown American Idol stans, so I've been forced into watching the first week episode 3 times now. And I just feel like Katy is holding back all the time. Everything she says on the show just seems to stilted and choreographed, zero personality shines through. I hope once it moves into live episodes and closer to her releasing new music, she can just let loose and be *fun* again. As someone who has seen every season of Idol (Although I skipped Nicki/Mariah's season on purpose), she's paid (way more than anyone should be) to play the character that DISNEY/ABC Idol wants... While I think EVERY reality show is semi scripted, comparing FOX'S Idol to ABC'S is like a 180 with the picture perfect storylines/paint by numbers/stay in the lines of what DISNEY/ABC want that everything becomes so choreographed... I mean comparing the critiques now to FOX'S Idol makes Paula seem like a Cold Hearted Snake... EVERY person gets clapped/stood up/is in the top 10/could win this all/will tour with the judge/will work with the judge... It's nauseating (and yes I still watch lol so I'm the clown!) |
