Over 800 songs, 71 cities and planets, 60 contestants and 48 legs across 3 seasons has built up to this. One final season to prove yourself the ultimate winner. 10 legs, 16 players invited back for one last race around the world. This is...The Pulse Amazing Race: All StarsThe Pulse Amazing Race is a race through space in which players must adapt to twists, the judges, and their partners in order to come out on top. This season is the culmination of the past three seasons, and we've invited back sixteen all star players to duke it out to be the champion team. I'm happy to say that DistrictTwelve will be joining me again as a co-host this season. Here are the rules:
1. Each leg, the team will be participate in 2-3 challenges, where they send us songs to "complete" the challenge 2. The songs will be based on different themes surrounding the location being visited for that week. For example, we could be in France, and the theme could be to send a song about/named after food, since France is a country commonly known for its cuisine. 3. There are many different challenges/twists that you will face throughout the duration of the season. However, on each and every leg, you must perform a roadblock and a detour. A roadblock is a challenge that is taken on by one team member, where only they get to see the theme and, without discussing with their partner, must send a song. Each team member must do at least 5 roadblocks during their time in the race in order to be eligible to win. A detour is a challenge in which all teams are presented with two theme choices, and they must choose which theme they would rather send a song for. 4. Chats will be set up for your teams and yourself on either Pulse or Discord. I will set up a Pulse PM chat, and if your team would rather use Discord please let us know and we can set up a chat for you there. 5. The songs will be rated by a panel of rotating judges, typically being myself, D12, the last eliminated contestant, and one other judge. The team with the highest cumulative score will win the leg! However, the team with the lowest overall score will come last in the leg, and often will be eliminated. At some points in the race, there will be non elimination legs in which instead of being eliminated, the last place team has to perform a challenge that may give them a penalty, known as the “speed bump”. 6. Teams will be randomized 7. Lots of twists will pop up throughout the race! Please always read our explanations for twists over carefully, but if you do and still don’t understand we can help explain and clarify.
There are also a few new rules this season: 1. You cannot send any song that has been sent in a previous season. Here is the full list of songs. 2. Each leg will now be on a schedule over the course of a week. Here is the schedule for each week. Monday: New leg posted, 48 hour song sending period begins Tuesday: Song sending period Wednesday: Songs posted, judging period begins Thursday-Friday: Judging period Saturday: Deadline for judges to get their scores in Sunday: leg reveals 3. To make things easier on District and I when we are trying to see what songs you lock in, you must bold the song so that we can easily see which song you are locking in. For example, if you have been debating between different options and decide that you want to send Anne-Marie's Dangerous Woman, simply send the message Anne-Marie - Dangerous Woman and we will easily confirm it for you.
Now, you may be asking, who are the all stars this season? To find out our cast of 16 and see the live team reveal, hop into the Pulse Discord server tomorrow (5/12) at 1:30 pm est where I will be doing a live wheel spin.
We've invited back a few former PAR players to be judges this season, but if you're interested in judging either as a rotating judge or as a one-off judge shoot us a message or post in this thread.
Judges: 1. razorshark 2. Adrian C. 🍓 3. rom 4. Enyasurvivor 5. austin 6. taylor 7. fearlessarrow 8. Lordef†ones
We hope to see many of you in the livestream chat tomorrow for the kick off to the culminating season of the Pulse Amazing Race.

Leg 1 Washington, D.C.Challenge #1: DetourWhat is a detour? In these challenges, two themes will be available, and teams will choose to send a song for the one they feel more confident in. Be sure to specify which theme you are sending for!Detour ThemesMini Metro or Long AgoMini Metro: Although the capital has less than a million people living within its bounds, it has the second busiest metro system in the entire country. For this detour, you must send a song that is similarly busy: a song that is under two and a half minutes and has a bpm of 110 or over.ORLong Ago: The city of Washington was established long ago in 1791. For this detour, you must send a song whose title contains the name of a real person born before the 1900s.
Challenge #2: RoadblockWhat is a roadblock? In these challenges, only one member of the team can come up with a song to send. No consulting. You'll be on the honor system here. Send in your group pm who will do this road block. They will then without consulting their teammate see the theme and send the song in individual pms. tl;dr only one person sends a song, pick who that is in the group pms, then and only then they see the theme.
Consult with your teammate and get your songs in within 48 hours or else your team will NOT have a song in that category and will get an automatic 0/10. Feel free to ask Nick and District any and all questions you may have. Check this list to make sure your song has not been sent in a previous season. The world is waiting for you. Travel safe. Go!

A note going forward about a slight rule change: if you send a song that objectively does not fit the theme (i.e. the challenge is to send a song that was a #1 hit, and you send a song that only hit #2) or you send a song that was sent in a previous season, you will lose one point from each judge's score.

Starting the season with a win is...1. Bornussia Dortmund (filthy & born )Overall Score: 72.9 | Detour Rank: #1 | Roadblock Rank: #2
Detour Results:
(Mini Metro)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The chorus here is just perfect. I can’t help but always jam with this one (9.4)District: (9.4)Razor: Did a lot with the time it took, but nothing felt rushed, well outside the tempo. Cute little song. (8.5)Enya: I loved this song! Great noticeable BPM. Nothing predictable or overdone about this submission and it’s just a pleasing track to listen to. This would work great as a teen movie opener. (10)Overall Score: 37.3
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Filthy)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The framing of a breakup as being a crime is clever. The song’s instrumentation is strong also—it gets into a good groove over the course of the track. (8.8)
District: (9.3)
Rom: what a good ass bassline. so fire. Backflipability: still unable to do a backflip, but the bassline alone would make me want to do one (8.0)
Adrian: Fiona Apple is such a talent, both as a singer and a songwriter. This song is amazing and will probably always be one of my favorites. I love the dark vibe, the lyrics, the piano, her vocals, just everything about this is ON POINT! (9.5)
Overall Score: 35.6
Amazing start with top two finishes in both challenges! You'll get a +1.5 bonus next leg.

Just missing the summit is..2. ¯\_😎_/¯ (MoD & shruggie )Overall Score: 70.4 | Detour Rank: #3 | Roadblock Rank: #1
Detour Results:
(Mini Metro)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This song doesn’t feel the need to yack about bulls**t in order to be comfortable—instead it’s just a delightfully groovy two minutes. I know MoD has thought about sending this plenty of times in the past and I’m glad he finally did, it’s a fantastic track (9.7)District: (8.3)Razor: FUUUUUUCK YA (9.7)Enya: Very interesting choice and kind of baffles me? I kinda like it? I know it’s in Pulp Fiction, but it still has that unearthed quality of yesteryear in it that I appreciate. Although now I have “Pump It” stuck in my head, which sucks. (7)Overall Score: 34.7
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by MoD)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I love the beat here—it gives the perfect dreamy feeling for the song. The chorus is iconic in all the right ways, its hard for it to not get stuck in your head (9)
District: (8.5)
Rom: (WHUH WHUH) Backflipability: neither Day N(or) Nite would i be able to do a backflip. chorus makes me want to do one though, like i really want to now. that's how i would free my mind. the backflip (9.2)
Adrian: I don't consider myself a Kid Cudi fan by any means, but there's no denying that this is a classic! Like I just always feel a rush of nostalgia any time I hear this song. It brings back great memories! Great song, and always a lot of fun! (9)
Overall Score: 35.7
Your first place roadblock helped you score a second place win! A +1 bonus for the next leg may help your momentum.

Rounding out the podium is..3. The Familiar Fruits 💅 (samo🦕 & walt91 )Overall Score: 66.1 | Detour Rank: #7 | Roadblock Rank: #3
Detour Results:
(Mini Metro)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: This song is so good. The instrumentation has a bouncy feel at some points, and the singing is impeccable (9)District: (7.6)Razor: A nice wholesome song about how her favorite dick belonged to a preachers son. Beautifully performed, and a classic. Also a song I wouldn not have though of for this challenge but sure enough 176 BPM. (9.2)Enya: Sorry Dusty, but the Aretha Franklin cover outshines this one immensely. It’s just what Aretha does and whoever submitted should’ve thought of that. I do enjoy the little subversion of the theme by selecting a slower song with a high BPM. (5)Overall Score: 30.8
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Samo)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Playing on the word merry and its various homophones works really well in this song, it gives the feeling of the ever rotating merry go round. I remembered liking this one when I listened to all of Kacey Musgraves’ albums a few years back, and I still enjoy it—it’s making me tempted to revisit those albums! (9.4)
District: (9.5)
Rom: damn kacey musgraves doesnt stop being good huh. i mean like great songwriting aside this instrumental is so pretty like damn that banjo those pianos like thats so Crazy... Backflipability: imagine doing a backflip on a moving merry go round like i think you'd get hit in the head probably (8.2)
Adrian: I don't think I've ever heard a Kacey song that I actively dislike. Having said that, this is not on par with some of my favorite songs from her, but it's still a cute little tune. Her voice is really pretty as always and I like the instrumental. It's a perfectly pleasant song overall. (8.2)
Overall Score: 35.3
A great roadblock pick boosted you to the top 3! Here's a +0.8 bonus to help you out.

Just making the top half is..4. Meg's Alt Accounts (Beno & Mayman )Overall Score: 65.8 | Detour Rank: #6 | Roadblock Rank: #4
Detour Results:
(Mini Metro)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: It’s pretty good. A bit repetitive, but I like it for what it is (7.7)District: (7.2)Razor: SZA usually takes a few listens to click with me. This seems to be no different but this is still really interesting. (7.6)Enya: Ok, I was not expecting this to be as good as it was. Usually the malfunctioning starts and stops would get annoying, but not here. I’m constantly surprised by SZA, which makes me think I should probably listen to her album in full finally. (9) Overall Score: 31.5
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by beno)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I really enjoy the swells in the chorus here. Great writing too, the descriptions of love and the images created around them are very evocative. One of my favorite Lana Del Ray songs (9.5)
District: (8.9)
Rom: this is so pretty... Backflipability: i could DEFINITELY do a backflip in a video game. not to this song (video games) though (8.9)
Adrian: Honestly, it takes a lot for me to love a Lana Del Rey song. Over the years, only occasionally has she put out a song that really interests me or moves me. This one kind of just dragged and was easy to tune out of. Not a bad song, but it's a little bit boring with nothing that really stands out. I don't really get the love for it unfortunately. (7)
Overall Score: 34.3
Consistent performances in both challenges secured your spot in the top half. Enjoy a +0.6 bonus for the next leg.

Up next is..5. J & J Security (maine & CagedJuggalo The Third Tanker)Overall Score: 64.9 | Detour Rank: #2 | Roadblock Rank: #8
Detour Results:
(Mini Metro)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: Who doesn’t love this song? A classic filled with purely fun energy (9.5)District: (9)Razor: A bit on the nose but a classic nonetheless. (8.8)Enya: This is just one of those songs that will never get old as it touches each upcoming generation. It doesn’t matter how many commercials or movies use it, it’s still gonna be a fun two minutes. (8) Overall Score: 35.3
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Jugg)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I liked this song a lot when it first came out, but I burned out on it pretty quickly and rarely if ever listen to it at this point. The verses don’t really do anything for me, but the pre-chorus and the blending of voices in the chorus is nice enough. (6.6)
District: (8.3)
Rom: the chorus sounds like a... car? Backflipability: i still cant do a backflip. i would not want to do a backflip to this song either (6.6)
Adrian: I don't listen to Khalid much, but he does have a good voice. This one was more instant for me, but not one that I go back to a lot. I don't think it's super memorable outside of the chorus honestly, but I vibe with it if it happens to come on! (8.1)
Overall Score: 29.6
An amazing detour saved you this leg! A +0.4 bonus may help you gain some consistency.

Enya: Sorry Dusty, but the Aretha Franklin cover outshines this one immensely. It’s just what Aretha does and whoever submitted should’ve thought of that.
Yea you're right Samo and Walt should've thought of submitting the version that is less than 1/5th as popular

Avoiding the bottom two is...6. ZeBB (matteeeb & BB🌕 )Overall Score: 64.5 | Detour Rank: #8 | Roadblock Rank: #2
Detour Results:
(Long Ago)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The beat for this track is good, especially the recurring riff. The vocals are as grand as always. The strength with which the beat kicks in after each repetition of “reach out, touch faith” is particularly satisfying (9.2)District: (9.1)Razor: Is the debate still open as to whether this actually fits the theme or not?? (8.9)Enya: I have to say, I’m pretty disappointed in this one. This theme allowed for some really creative and off-the-wall submissions and you chose…Jesus. The song itself is alright, but really doesn’t go anywhere. (3) Overall Score: 30.2
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by BB)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: The sample here works really well. I always vibe with this one (8.6)
District: (9.2)
Rom: yeah its obviously good but this is (imo) one of kanye's most overrated songs... sorry yall... i think it might be the sample, something about it just doesn't click with me. Backflipability: even with my jaw wired shut i dont think id be able to do a backflip. song's groovy (7.8)
Adrian: Anyone who knows me knows that I am FAR from a Kanye fan. But I gotta give it to the man every now and then. This is honestly really good. I really like his flow and the instrumental. The high-pitched voice sample is the only thing about the song that kind of annoys me, but outside of that, this is quite enjoyable! (8.7)
Overall Score: 34.3
You were saved by your roadblock! A small +0.2 bonus could give you an edge next leg.

Narrowly avoiding elimination is...7. Wamba No. 5 (willapted33 & Sambalada )Overall Score: 64.4 | Detour Rank: #4 | Roadblock Rank: #6Detour Results: (Mini Metro)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: It’s hard to go wrong with Vampire Weekend! I particularly like the guitar riff this song has going (9)District: (8.6)Razor: My thoughts on this song are constantly shifting, but it's fun at least. (8.5)Enya: feel like this song is a little predictable of a choice in terms of wanting to look cool BUT I have to admit, it’s a great song and really utilizes its 2:18. (7)Overall Score: 33.1 Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Will)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I’ve always had a soft spot for this one. The chorus doesn’t do it for me, but I generally like the choppy beat. The verses and especially the bridge are what make the song for me. Nice outro too (7.7)District: (8.1)Rom: thudding sounds. Backflipability: far too choppy to do a backflip to. "never be like you" indeed if the "you" is someone who could do a backflip (7.2)Adrian: I probably liked this one more when it was popular. It is still kind of an earworm, although just a little bit messy, but I guess that's what makes it unique. I don't actively seek this song out, but if it happens to come on, I have no reason to change it! (8.3)Overall Score: 31.3AfterJudge coming in as arguably the pre-season favorites with two former winners, you two were caught off guard this leg and turned in an uncharacteristically weak performance. No bonus for next leg but you're still in the race The first all star team eliminated is...8. The Flop Pop Stans Inc. (HamedM1 💔 & Mylo13 💜 )Overall Score: 62.8 | Detour Rank: #5 | Roadblock Rank: #7Detour Results:
(Mini Metro) Judge's Thoughts:Nick: My cultural history professor last semester loved Mitski, and I heard this song before class a handful of times! Mitski can be hit and miss for me but I dig this one, it’s got a good groove (8.5)District: (8.3)Razor: A vibe and a half. Great pick (9.4)Enya: I’m pretty mid on Mistki. I can appreciate her vision, but her songs just aren’t for me and this is no different. It’s not a bad song, it just isn’t something to would choose to listen to on my own. (6)Overall Score: 32.2
Roadblock Results:
(Sent by Hamed) Judge's Thoughts:Nick: SZA obviously has made better but this is pretty solid for a start. The hook in particular often gets stuck in my head (7.8)
District: (8.9)
Rom: i hate disrespecting sza but this beat aint that... i cant blame either her or travis for not being able to do anything with it. Backflipability: no (6.2)
Adrian: I want to like this more than I do because I really like SZA. I think she has a great voice and she sounds really good on here. I just don't love this production and I don't care for Travis Scott. I don't think he sounds all that good. Still a fine listen overall, but it's just a little underwhelming in my opinion compared to some of her other songs. (7.7)
Overall Score: 30.6
An all around mediocre performance ended you two in last place, and I'm sorry to say that you have been eliminated from the race. Thank you for playing!

Sometimes, in my "Dreams", I kept seeing a "Dancing Queen", But I also smelled something that "Smells Like Teen Spirit". I feel they wanted to "Paint It, Black", like the kids in "Africa". Now I wake up, and I see you "Stand by Me". While I'm used to seeing "Another One Bites the Dust", I'm glad that I'm "Stayin' Alive" to be with you. So "In the End", "Long Live Life".
