As an Oklahoman and Red Dirt fan, this is like nails on a chalkboard. It just sounds wrong. Below is the most well known version in these parts by Stoney Larue youtu.be/T_-9p0b_WPU

I don’t even understand why they bother sending songs to radio anymore. Him and his team know this one isn’t even gonna chart. Why bother wasting time and money when you already know the end result.

His last song debuted at #25 -- albeit due to prearranged hourly airplay upon release -- and then hung around on the chart for well over half a year bouncing around in the 30s-40s of the chart, so I wouldn't rule it out. Granted, after listening to this song and hearing how mediocre it is, I don't expect it to get much of any airplay, but it's certainly not out of the question for it to get enough to graze the bottom of the chart, lol. Clay Walker and Joe Nichols are getting a little bit of traction with their recent singles, despite having radio careers that have been effectively dead for quite some time, so I don't see why Toby Keith wouldn't try for it.

I guess what I meant to say was what’s the point of releasing a single just to have it basically do nothing. Clay and Joe didn’t gain anything from having a song barely scrap the top 40. Nobody is going to a Clay Walker concert hoping he plays his new single lol.

They may not be getting massive exposure but even the relatively small amount they get can lead to ticket, album or single sales.

Like few people are really checking for new music from Clay Walker the way they did during his prime, but he still has fans that will buy/stream his music, and even some minor mainstream play from a single that peaks in the 40s or 50s on the chart will help in some capacity to support his career. Plus Toby Keith is loaded and has been releasing music under his own imprint for over 15 years now so I'm sure he isn't worried about the financial aspect of releasing music to country radio.

He’s better at singing ballad type songs to me. The last song of his I really liked was “God Love Her”.

This song is fine, but I kinda feel like it is a waste of space on the chart. Unless he releases something as great as Thunderbird as a radio single, I just want his name to go away from the radio scene and give room to some newer singers.

This song is really good. I, for one, am always happy to have great songs on the charts, no matter WHO sings them.
