Coming in tied in points with the previous song, "After 17" bows out next which likely comes as a surprise to some who thought this might've been a top 10 contender. That includes bboat11 who also predicted that Freight Train would be one of the last albums standing with multiple songs. With its exit, that actually leaves the album with only "Taillights Blue" remaining. This managed to clock in as the fourth most polarizing song overall with it picking up both a pair of top 5s from bboat11 and kw9461 as well as a pair of bottom 5s from gardyfan and George Strait Junkie. This mostly hovered in and around the top 40 for the majority of its run and was only able to sneak into the top 30 in the final stretch.

“Things That Matter” becomes only the second song to exit from Alan's most recent offering Where Have You Gone which still has two songs remaining in contention. As you can see from above, the rankings for this were spread out across the board which in turn made this the fifth most polarizing song overall. Five participants in all lose a top 30 which includes a pair of top 10s from both myself and Kanenrá:ke as well as a near top 10 from castleoblivion26. Two others felt this was worthy of a bottom 5 ranking which included a slot in last place from bboat11.

“If It Ain’t One Thing (It’s You)” exits just a few points shy of making the top 25 as the two songs following it are both tied. This was an early top 10 contender for more than half of its run as it picked up an initial top 10 from myself followed by a top 20 from gardyfan. It still was able to maintain its top 10 position even after receiving its first of two bottom 10s from George Strait Junkie. It would be that second ranking however which came in the form of a bottom 5 from taylor that ended up pushing this back outside of that and eventually the top 25 altogether.

“Three Minute Positive Not Too Country Up-Tempo Love Song” leaves just shy of the top 25 as it lost out on the tie-breaker due to the song ahead of it picking up a pair of top 10s. This mostly rode out its time comfortably inside the top 30 as the majority of the group would rank this somewhere within that range. That included a pair of top 15s from kw9461 and taylor along with a trip of top 25s. Only myself and bboat11 slotted this outside of the top 30 with the latter being a bottom 10.

Any guesses as to which five songs will miss the top 20?! I'll swing back around later on this evening to reveal which songs those will be (which also just happens to include someone's runner-up!).

"After 17" definitely would've been in my top five had I been able to complete my list. Hands down my favorite discovery from Freight Train.
"From a Distance" also deserved better, alongside "A Love Like That", "Long, Long Way", "Let's Get Back to Me and You", "Short Sweet Ride", "Right in the Palm of Your Hand", and "You Don't Have to Paint Me a Picture".

“Gonna Come Back As a Country Song” bows out first inside the top 25 and takes with it a top 10 from bboat11 as well as a runner-up from George Strait Junkie. This song managed to find its way out from last place thanks to yours truly where it eventually even briefly snuck into the top 15. I'd be joined in last place by Kanenrá:ke which in turn sent this outside of the top 20 altogether. It shouldn't come as a surprise then that this song in turn clocks in as the second most polarizing of the rankdown.

“Wishful Drinkin’” is the next song to exit from Alan's most recent offering Where Have You Gone leaving "The Boot" as the last remaining song from that album. This actually only managed to find its way in the top 25 in the final moments thanks to a last minute top 15 from Kanenrá:ke. That followed on the heels of a top 20 from taylor as well as a lone top 10 from George Strait Junkie just before that. The only holdout was bboat11 who appears not to be a fan of this album overall as this was his second song from this record to have been placed down inside his bottom 5.

The title track to Alan's twentieth studio album exits just shy of the top 20 which in turn means Angels and Alcohol becomes the second album to bow out. This was actually a strong contender to finish inside the top 20 as all but three participants placed this outside of their top 30. Unfortunately gardyfan loses a top 10 while castleoblivion26 loses a top 15.

This has got to be the most incorrect results we have ever had for an album track rankdown. After that asinine placement of "Big Green Eyes", this pretty much never got back on the rails after that. There are still a lot of incredible songs left, of course, but I would honestly swap out like half of the top 20 with songs we have already lost, which has literally never happened in an album tracks rankdown before... Like, just one example, "Ace of Hearts" is easily one of the closest to being generic '90s album-filler songs in this entire rankdown, and yet it is here instead of "Right in the Palm of Your Hand", one of Alan's most iconic and well-known signature covers of all time? Like that's just plain wrong, regardless of my tastes. This is basically equivalent to Martina's "True Blue Fool" being in her album tracks rd and curb-stomping "Til I Can Make It On My Own"
I still anticipate us having a strong top 5/10, but it sure will have been a weird ride getting there!

At the risk of going off-topic, I started watching Monk earlier this year and seeing these results gave me flashbacks of that episode where Monk got admitted into an asylum (aptly titled "Mr. Monk Goes to the Asylum") and that Santa Claus themed moment towards the end: "I just want two and two to be four again."
At least "Angels and Alcohol" almost made the top 20? Glad to see "Another Good Reason" out (never really clicked with me), but "Wishful Drinkin'" could've stayed for a few more minutes. I really liked the lyrical setup in that one.
Hopefully "Job Description", "Ace of Hearts", and "That's All I Need to Know" are on borrowed time. Maybe "1976" as well (even though I can easily see it making the top 10 comfortably)?

Good afternoon, y'all! Here are a few things you can expect to see as we gear up to enter the top 20: - Not one, not two, but THREE albums will bow out of contention
- The most polarizing song will be unveiled
- The final remaining last place ranking will finally exig
- The first participant(s) to lose their #1 song will happen just before the top 10

“Dog River Blues" is the first song to exit from the top 20 and just happens to clock in as the most polarizing as well. This yo-yoed in and out of the top 20 a few times over the course of its run as every high ranking would almost be countered with one just as low. That was evident from the get-go as my top 3 was countered by gardyfan's bottom 5 which then was matched with another top 5 from kw9461. A second bottom 5 from castleoblivion26 followed that up which in turn pushed this outside of the top 25. A second top 10 from bboat11 would bring this back into the top 20 where it would remain for the duration of its run despite a third bottom 10 ranking coming along in the final moments from Kanenrá:ke. That leaves "Ace of Hearts" as the highest-placing album track from Here in the Real World. Will it be able to make the top 15?! Let's continue on to find out...

Despite being mostly a steady top 15 contender during its run, “Hurtin’ Comes Easy” leaves next as clocks in as the highest-placing album track from High Mileage. All but four participants placed this outside of their top 25 with the highest being a top 10 from castleoblivion26 and the lowest coming from taylor with a lone bottom 10. Both myself and bboat11 placed this inside our top 15 with George Strait Junkie almost scoring a perfect ranking.
