I’m hyped! He’s posted a clip of this one on Instagram before and it sounds great.

This is going to be huge. Easily one of his best songs. That chorus is so infectious. I see this connecting well, seems like a good time to release with everything going on in world.

Highly disappointed. This is the definition of boring and forgettable I agree with this. Also, anyone else think this song sounds a bit similar to "Whiskey And Rain" by Michael Ray or is it just me?!

I usually love Luke Combs, but not only has his music gotten stale to me, but in an interview going around he was asked who the biggest star in country music is and promptly said “gotta be me or Wallen.”
Which is undeniable how big he has gotten, but some humility wouldn’t hurt. That just made him come off as having a large ego, so that’s a little bit off putting.

Absolutely fantastic song from Luke. I remember when he first released the acoustic version. One of his best. Such a great hook! 15th #1 in a row?! 👏👏👏👏

He’s just so one note to me. And I really loved his first album, but if this third one is more of the same I’m gonna be over it.

He straddles that line between old school and modern so well. Can’t wait for the new album. I’ve played the first two about a million times.

Well the radio will play his songs whether they’re quality or not so that helps with the consistent hit-making aspect. I just think it’s time he grows as an artist and maybe he will with this record it’ll be interesting to see. I’ll definitely listen with open ears, I’m just waiting for him to step it up a notch I guess.

I also am hoping this album will see him shake it up a little, and I’m (very) cautiously optimistic of that upon my first listen to this song. It’s got a bit of a difference to it, at least in melody, while maintaining his signature neotraditionalism. Not sure I’d go out of my way to revisit it, but it’s inoffensive enough for me.
$5 says it’s a #1 by August.

Wow, this is absolutely fantastic! I haven't loved a single of his this much since like... 2018. I was really cooling on him bad after a string of poor single choices and him just becoming so oversaturated, but this song is one of the best things he's put out to date imo. I'm stoked to see him finally releasing something that feels fresh, because this definitely doesn't fall into his two more predictable tropes of either generic loud songs about beer or boring acoustic-guitar driven sentimental mush. The production on this is so delightfully punchy and the way he delivers the lines has a nice sultry vibe to it that really works well, kinda reminds me of how Brett Young sings, who is one of my favorites. And then that chorus is just super catchy. Home run from Luke Combs finally after quite a drought. Hoping the album has more songs on it that are this good and that he actually releases them to radio, because his last set had some great songs and almost all of them were left as album cuts.

I'm gong to have to give this a few more listens because I'm initially not feeling it. I especially dislike the pacing of the words at certain points during the song as I just find it mildly distracting and something I might not be able to get past. We'll see if I change my mind, though, once I have a chance to revisit it again for the new releases rankdown.

I don’t think this sounds like his other singles, like, at all. It doesn’t do the same things his ballads always do and it isn’t screaming at me like his uptempos have since his debut.
I wouldn’t say I LOVE this, but I like this. It’s definitely my favorite since “Even Though I’m Leaving.”

Blake Shelton called, he wants his sound back😂 Yes, i’m implying that this sounds exactly like something Blake would put out.
For the record though, i do think this is pretty solid.

Interesting to see some polarizing opinions above, but I would side with the positive opinions here. Not that I instantly fell in love with this song, but this is a huge improvement from his last 5 or so singles that sounded exactly the same with his other materials. I'm happy to say I'm enjoying his radio single again, as I was a fan of his back in 2019 or so. I hope his upcoming album would be more like this, and less like boring ballad collections.

onebuffalo How many songs have debuted in the top 20 since the Airplay era began? I figured I’d ask you since you have a lot of chart knowledge but if anyone else knows the answer that would be great. Off the top of my head I know or remember “More Than A Memory” by Garth Brooks and can also remember “Feel Like A Rockstar” by Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw. I know there’s others too but don’t recall them.

“Growing Up” is predicted to debut with 65k-75k units in the US. Should be enough to spend 1 week at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
Like every other mainstream artist (aside from Morgan), Luke is also seeing a decent decline in first week sales. This was expected but I was thinking he would be able to pull off 100K-110K at least…

Luke is supposed to be the hot new thing in country and even his numbers are underwhelming despite radio's giant exposure.

They did the top 30 while I did the top 20. I only missed one. I'm sorry I don't have that list right now.

Debut at #18 on Hot 100.
It climbed(!) to #15 from #18 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

Luke needs to send this to pop radio now before this loses momentum.

Even with the "doin what we're doin" stuff in the chorus, this is really good. Maybe not quite as much as say Tomorrow me personally, but I'm fine with this being the bit hit from Growin' Up.
