It'll either be Scotty or Morgan at #1 tomorrow. It's razor thin. If Morgan stays then Scotty may get #2 on MB for the peak. Morgan (and Luke too) reminds me of the early 90s with Garth and Alan and George when they caused a lot of songs to end up peaking #2. Same stuff different decade.

First of all is it all that close on Mediabase if this song is done pushing as of tomorrow? "It Matters To Her" is over 500 spins and 3 million in audience behind on Mediabase. Secondly what is going on with Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen is pretty rare since the 2010s (especially in the back half) decade was very rotational for the #1 so having two artists absolutely running the gauntlet in country music and radio is a refreshing change of pace of the Billboard chart being a participation trophy for #1s.

I am not a huge country music fan except for Scotty McCreery (blame it on American Idol).
Needless to say that he didn't get the push that he needed this week. He is so far behind Wallen Morgan that his chances are next to none of getting #1 tomorrow. Realistically , I have given up.
Sad because the song was doing pretty good until this week.
Hopefully, his next single will do better. He needs a collaboration with a huge star to push him to a higher level. Fingers crossed.

This is from the Country Aircheck daily emails from Thursday & Friday. Country Aircheck Today Top 5: Here are the Top 5 songs for May 31, according to Mediabase 24/7. MORGAN WALLEN/Last Night (Big Loud) 4781 points SCOTTY MCCREERY/It Matters To Her (Triple Tigers) 4769 points TYLER HUBBARD/Dancin' In The Country (EMI Nashville) 3827 points JORDAN DAVIS/Next Thing You Know (MCA) 3387 points MORGAN WALLEN/One Thing At A Time (Big Loud) 3215 points Country Aircheck Today Top 5: Here are the Top 5 songs for June 1, according to Mediabase 24/7. MORGAN WALLEN/Last Night (Big Loud) 4754 points SCOTTY MCCREERY/It Matters To Her (Triple Tigers) 4510 points TYLER HUBBARD/Dancin' In The Country (EMI Nashville) 3925 points JORDAN DAVIS/Next Thing You Know (MCA) 3642 points CODY JOHNSON/Human (CoJo/Warner/WMN) 3569 points In terms of Mediabase points, it is closer than spins. It could be close depending what happens today & tomorrow. I think Morgan would get #1 on MB & Scotty is #2.

Yeah unless he has a hell of an update tomorrow, and Morgan loses a chunk, it’ll be a #2 peak.
This just ran into unfortunate timing, and would’ve been an easy #1, at least on Mediabase if it was peaking in the next few weeks compared to now.
It still should be celebrated and seen as a success for Scotty though. A #2 peak for a third single is nothing to be ashamed of.
I do think there’s a chance though, but literally all the stars will have to align for it to get to #1 tomorrow.

I do think it is important to note this has been a pretty light hit all things considered as well (#62 peak on the Hot 100 so far) so in terms of songs that have missed out on at least a Billboard #1 this year and peaking in the Top 5 on either chart, ("Down Home", "Pick Me Up", "That's What Tequila Does", "You", "What He Didn't Do", "Handle On You", "Wait In The Truck", "Heart Like A Truck", "Wild As Her", "Gold", and now this) this has been a pretty underwhelming song in a year where country music has done pretty well for itself.

#2 on Mediabase by a sizeable margin.

Scotty has said this will be the last single from the album but man I wish the title truck "Same Truck" would be a single. I almost wish it'd been the single instead even though this song is great too! The title track has #1 written all over it but as slow as his singles move and singles in general for most artists I can see why he's ready to move on.

I loved “Damn Strait” and this was okay but I’m happy they are moving on as “Same Truck” reminds me of “Same Boat” too much.

Yea I think he needs to come back with a nice profile collab the next project to move to the next level as this wasn’t the strongest hit. IMO I feel like he’s the artist on their roster to do so and elevate them as well which warrants a bit more of an overall investment rather than more of a radio investment but his sales and streams NEED to improve. Russell’s sales and streams have seemed to have significantly cooled down and I have a feeling we might start seeing that translate to radio soon as well.
Tbh I’ve wondered for a while about less where Scottys career is and more where Triple Tigers is as a record label but more importantly, a business. What kind of clout do they have, where are their strengths and weaknesses, are they profitable and if so, how much? What’s their next moves (expanding teams, influence etc. ) things like that. As a label they feel like Scotty’s career, under the radar- no HUGE artist but consistent. I felt like I was able to see Big Loud’s growth very clear and and their journey from a small new indie label to having the biggest country artist today on their roster. I wonder what journey Triple Tigers is on and what they’ll be able to do for their artists.

I really don’t think one of his singles running into unfortunate timing, and having to settle for a #2 peak behind one of the biggest songs of the year, across all genres, is anything to be concerned about. I think Triple Tigers have been great for Scotty, as before them, Scotty’s old label couldn’t get his songs higher than right inside the top 10. Ever since the label move, Scotty has seen consecutive #1s, and one top 2.

So I kind of fall somewhere in the middle. I do think Scotty McCreery should have a collaboration by now for a single by now and would be a welcome change of pace. But his career overall is fine, even if besides "Damn Strait" none of "In Between", "You Time", or this have been big or even moderate hits at all it feels like. I do think a collab could be the one to really make things rise to the next level for him as I do think the fanbase and interest is there but the single choices don't reflect it.

I agree with both of y’all and I’m a fan of TT and what they did for Scotty (they were on a #1 streak going there for both of their artists for a while I believe), I’m just thinking about where they as a company are headed. Scotty is doing just fine but I only fear that just fine- middle of the road will lead him to like Jake Owen/Brett Young, maybe like Dustin Lynch (without the streams) type career when I see potential for him of more of like a CoJo type career.
