What was Mariah's? "Big Energy"? I'm still confused by that one, because everyone here always said that the song was driven by radio over everything else, and the radio updates started billing Mariah (and Khaled) but Billboard never did. Maybe radio being the biggest metric for the song didn't translate to 50%+ of the numbers (or whatever the rule is), but then maybe the acts on the biggest metric could stand to be the ones credited? Meh, that would probably lead to a lot of inconsistent crediting, a la "Perfect". In hindsight, Mariah should have been credited for Big Energy. In my opinion, Mariah had more impact on the success of this song than Beyoncé did with Perfect. Before the Mariah remix, this song couldn’t buy a week in the Top 10. After the remix, this song spent 3 straight months in the Top 10. Don’t forget that Perfect was already #3 on the charts before the Beyoncé duet. (It was going to #1 anyway even if there was no duet version.) If Beyoncé got the credit for Perfect, then I believe that Mariah should be credited for Big Energy. There's a Mariah Carey remix of the song?

But like, Mariah Carey's was the more popular version of the song so how does that make sense?

Dua Lipa, Mariah, and now Kate. I keep getting disappointed for my divas the last couple of years. They get so close but it’s not enough to hit their milestone. What was Mariah's? "Big Energy"? I'm still confused by that one, because everyone here always said that the song was driven by radio over everything else, and the radio updates started billing Mariah (and Khaled) but Billboard never did. Meh, that would probably lead to a lot of inconsistent crediting, a la "Perfect". Kworb credits the highest charting version of the song on iTunes for its radio charts. So for a bit Mariah's was the most popular version, but eventually the song went back to the original version once the remix fell off.

The Beyoncé remix of Perfect had so much more impact than Mariah's. It was huge the first week or two. I'm not sure why Billboard credited it as long as they did though. The reason why Big Energy went #3 was a combination of the album release and the remix being released. The remix had strong sales but weak streaming which is why it wasn't credited. Radio hadn't even peaked for the song until a few weeks after, which is why it stayed in the top 10 after that. You also said BE "couldn't buy a week in the top 10" when it was #11 the week before album release/remix release, I love when you make up stuff like that, it's funny. The way you are in these threads every day and yet seem to forget stuff like this surprises me.

I’m a huge Mini Lamb and it is what it is. Her version didn’t ever have more points for Mimi to get credited. It got some airplay at Hot Ac stations but I don’t think it ever got much pop/rhythmic play. It only made the streaming charts for a week I believe. Beyonces Version of Perfect with Ed sold a boatload for a couple of weeks and I believe got a decent amount of radio play too??

Mind you the entire 6 weeks it was no.1 Beyoncé was billed on it. The streams and sale for the perfect remix was way higher than the original for a couple weeks. The original only had a higher radio audience. That big energy remix was just not doing enough tbh. It didn’t even crack the top 50 of Spotify or AM so why would you even think Mariah was going to be credited? Additionally, Mariah was not even billed on the radio songs chart. What you saw was media base crediting her and they do that for every song once the remix is higher than the original on iTunes. Let’s think logically, do you really think a remix song would have over 60 mill radio audience after being released a day? Naah. With that being said, the remix did contribute to big energy getting a a peak a no.3 but the streams and radio were just lacking…

Also Big Energy was going for the top ten anyway. It would've been in the top ten for at least a couple months even without the remix.

I love that he didn't respond to any of the responses to his post. It just shows once again that all he does is post random shit like that and then leaves when people bring up valid points in response. I'm sure the next post barking random information and predictions is coming soon.

I'm a lamb and i totally understand why Mariah didn't get credit. Simply because her remix version never reached >50% of BE points during its peak. That's the rule. So no need to try breaking Billboad rule.
Mariah's remix version of course did helping BE's no.11 to no. 3 jump.

^Looking back at @chartessentials prediction the week that jump happened, Big Energy gained about 31% in points and it was one of the weeks that Heat Waves was at #1. Also, looking at its predicted points for that week, it would have been only #7 in last week's Hot 100, making the accomplishment a lot less impressive.

It's a case where we can't say for sure what definitely would have happened, but it was pretty well-established that Perfect was in all likelihood headed to #1 anyway, and was not set to fall a couple spots after it reached #3. The Beyonce remix (as well as to a lesser extent, an Andrea Bocelli remix), definitely helped it, but that was not the sole reason, as it was already receiving sufficient and/or increasing numbers on all metrics in order for it to lead for most likely at least a couple weeks. And Beyonce did not receive credit for all 6 of the weeks, only 5: thatgrapejuice.net/2018/01/beyonce-credit-removed-sheerans-perfect-billboard-hot-100/

Probably the most unfair case was UOENO by Rocko. Maybe it's changed now, but at the time the original version which got credited was like the 10th most popular version.

I don't think these second-day Spotify numbers are gonna have much of an impact on how many songs Brent Faiyaz could get on the Hot 100, given that the three songs I expect to not chart are the ones that fell the most, and I expect the other 16 to have enough time to get streams on Apple Music and other platforms to make it on the Hot 100.

The gains for today's update were larger than normal and losses smaller than normal probably due to some effect related to the July 4th weekend.

Wait, I thought that she said she wasn’t making a video for this song because of label issues? I guess this is proof that the “label drama rollout” is becoming much more of a thing now, which doesn’t exactly please me. She said the video was taking longer than expected because of the CGI, so that stopped the video premiering the same date as the single.

Moral of the story: Never take PopCrave tweets from weeks ago at face value, kids (or in general, really)

Decent 2nd day numbers for Brent. I’m hoping this holds just a little better throughout the week.

is there a reason one of the best 80's songs is gaining on Spotify? would be great if it went viral on tik tok or was in a movie or tv show so it could rechart.
