Results Time! Final Participant List: (15)
1. bboat112. tim3. nathanalbright4. .indulgecountry5. austin6. someguy7. castleoblivion268. carriefan159. sabre1410. smissy1311. taylor12. Kanenrá:ke13. schnetzka14. LBTrocks15. 🌺CountryLineDancerHello everyone! The Jamie O'Neal singles rankdown is officially CLOSED!!! We finished with a very respectable 15 lists, which is pretty average for artist rankdowns. Hopefully we can keep close to this same group for each of her album rankdowns after this?? I am going to get everything finalized and ready to go, making trajectory graphs and such, so in the meantime please feel free to make some predictions!!
Questions to get us started:
1. What is going to win?
2. What is going to be last place?
3. What else is going to be top 5/bottom 5?
4. What will be the most/least polarizing songs?
5. Which album rankdown are you looking forward to the most, if any??
6. Any other thoughts/comments?

I hope "Trying To Find Atlantis" does well cuz that song is catchy beyond all believe and beyond all explanation! Also hope "Somebody's Hero" does well cuz everything about it is fantastic.

You bite your tongue! 🤬 Haha your other opinions are fine though 😂 I don’t see how “There Is No Arizona” doesn’t win this however there a plenty of great options if there’s to be an upset!! Bottom has to be either “Wide Awake” or “I Love My Life”. “I’m Not Gonna Do Anything Without You”, “Wreck Me” and “Like I Do” are most likely filling out the bottom 5. Least will be “Arizona” most I have no clue. My number 1 maybe? Haha I’m looking forward to the Shiver rankdown because I have no idea which album tracks will appeal most there. But my favorite Jamie song is on ‘Brave’ so I can’t wait for that one either!

Predicting an "Arizona" win and I think "Wide Awake" might be the last place song.

“There Is No Arizona” would be a very worthy winner. It’s such an amazingly unique take on a common subject with an all-time title and hook.
“I Love My Life” I’ve always enjoyed but it shouldn’t have been a radio single.

"There Is No Arizona" for #1 easily
"Soldier Comin' Home" is the correct choice for last, and "Wide Awake" should be nowhere near last...
"When I Think About Angels" and "Trying To Find Atlantis" should both be locks for Top 5 easily. "God Don't Make Mistakes" should as well. Not sure what else.
I'm gonna guess unfortunately that "Wide Awake" will be among the bottom 5, I'm also thinking "Like I Do", "I'm Not Gonna Do Anything...", "Wreck Me", and "Frantic" are likely other contenders
Not sure what the most/least polarizing will be. Maybe "There Is No Arizona" for least, and "Wide Awake" for most?
I'm excited to dive into all of Jamie's albums but especially her first, I love that entire album and some of the album tracks are as good as some of her singles, if not better!

As most of you predicted, "Wide Awake" was in fact the last place song, and remained that way fairly consistently throughout the submissions. This song is delightfully country, it is funny, it is clever, and Jamie sounds as wonderful as ever. I really enjoy the premise of this one! Unfortunately, it is also pretty much a novelty song by design, which means that no matter how clever it is it also has a pretty high burn rate for me. So despite being a good song, it also was a pretty easy last place for me in a list of other similarly strong songs that are less niche.

The back-to-back #1 ranks from taylor and Kanenrá:ke in the home stretch managed to save this from last place and bump it up to #13...before Flops bumped it back to the bottom 2 again at the end. It probably should not be a surprise to see this one do so poorly even for the high rankers, since it's a non-album single that didn't even chart from after her radio success had already dried up, which is always an uphill battle for songs in a singles rankdown versus much bigger hits. Still, I LOVE the lyrical perspective of this one! The way that she is second-guessing their relationship because her partner travels so much that they are always apart and he doesn't seem excited to see her anymore is a pretty standard topic in country music...but then the entire thing turns on its head when she realizes that she also shares the blame because she doesn't put any effort into making him feel welcome or missed! It's just such a nice message that everyone should take to heart, because often in relationships what makes them great is both partners putting in the effort to value each other. I do think it is a little odd that this song didn't actually have anything to do with a soldier coming home and was more just a metaphor for how you should treat each other, but ultimately that didn't hold me back from any enjoyment of the song.

We obviously have some different opinions about her music, this bodes well for an exciting comment section.

"Wreck Me" rocks, but I knew the newer materials would not be received as well as her other iconic songs. This was discovered in the 2020 YE RD, and I was like "I kinda like it" at that time, but over the years, it grew to become one of my favourites.

That's true enough; I don't think I had heard a single song of hers before, and had only heard of one of them, so this was all discovery for me personally.

The #1s continue to drop like flies already, with 🌺CountryLineDancer being the unlucky victim this time... According to Wikipedia this was the "single" from Jamie's newest album Sometimes which came out in 2020 after quite a few years of silence from her. Of course it never charted and never received even the tiniest of radio pushes. I debated how to handle this album, because in my mind "The World Goes On" was every bit of the "single" that "Wreck Me" was just because it was the first promo song from the album. I also almost included "Closer To Closer" for shits and giggles because I have a strong suspicion it might potentially threaten for the victory when we rank that album, and it was also a promo single. In the end though, 15 was such a nice round number, I decided not to mess with it and just stick with what Wikipedia said! Anyway, I didn't answer the prediction questions for obvious reasons, but if I were to answer the question about which album I am looking forward to ranking the most, Sometimes is my obvious answer That album is absolutely INCREDIBLE! Honestly, 3/4 of the album is poised to make my most-played songs of the year for the 3rd year in a row now. (Which is pretty impressive since it hasn't even been out for two full years yet) Honestly though, as much as I love it, "Wreck Me" is nowhere near the best that that album has to offer, so I am not surprised to see it out now. It is fine, but also a bit overproduced.

It may seem random, but I was obsessed with "Like I Do" back in 2016 I have no idea what Erica Nicole has been up to since then, but I wanted her to find mainstream success so badly when this song came out! She has a very convincing '90s country vibe to her voice, like she could have been a peer going toe-to-toe with Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Jo Dee Messina, Reba McEntire, Lee Ann Womack, etc. back in the day, but she was simply born a couple decades too late! This song is similarly like a throwback to a bygone era, and the big chorus never gets old to me! Speaking of Reba McEntire, both Erica and Jamie sound exactly like Reba to me on the last word of this song. Haha on the final "I do" when the song is slowing down and Jamie goes low and Erica goes high, both of them add a little extra inflection in their final note that makes that final note sound EXACTLY like how Reba would have done it. I can't even hardly describe it, but you can bet that it makes me want to repeat the whole damn song just to hear it again.

Musically there's just... nothing I enjoy about "Soldier Comin' Home" so I have never paid attention to the lyrics tbh lol. It was an EASY last place for me
"Like I Do" was an easy 14 for me too, it's pretty and all but not one I would ever go out of my way to listen to.
"Wide Awake" has a good chorus but yeah, it's really hard to be a big fan of this one cuz after hearing it a couple times you're good.
"Wreck Me" is great tho. I know I only ranked it at 8, but I love her and the majority of the songs in this.

The bottom 4 has been all four of her single releases to not chart. From this point forward everything that is remaining at least charted! I am going to go ahead and stop there for the night, because up next we have a FOUR-WAY-TIE I'd rather reveal the whole thing in one stretch tomorrow rather than breaking it up into different sets!

Oof, that one was so locked in to #12 that even a #2 couldn't raise it up any.
