âWide Awakeâ is cute but it wears quickly just because of how much of a novelty it is.
I do not understand how âSoldier Cominâ Homeâ is out that early?! Lyrically I think itâs one of her best, her vocal on it is amazing, itâs unique topically. I just canât at this result haha did not expect it to win or anything but thought itâd be safe from the bottom 5.
âLike I Doâ they both sound amazing and Iâve loved the song since it came out. The only reason it is on the lower end for me is because it doesnât feel like a Jamie song to me. Did she have a hand in writing it? I donât think I ever found the credits for that.
âWreck Meââa only problem is it doesnât have years of nostalgia helping me rank it. I believe most of the new album will continue to grow on me and It would rank more favourably with more time. Also one of the âweakerâ songs on the album so that doesnât help lol

Tragic mess already. Both of the songs I put in my Top 5 were robbed. </3 A four way tie just broke a rankdown record, didnât it

I do think it is a little odd that this song didn't actually have anything to do with a soldier coming home and was more just a metaphor for how you should treat each other, but ultimately that didn't hold me back from any enjoyment of the song. I think the song is not great anyway, but this being the title really irks me! It has nothing to do with the military or a Soldier but the title comes off so hard trying to appeal to that audience lol. I donât know, just bothers me.

The big loser of our 4-way tie is none other than the final duet of this rankdown, "I'm Not Gonna Do Anything Without You", which saw Jamie pairing with Mark Wills. I think this was technically HIS single (it's listed in a separate group of features on Wikipedia rather than in her main singles list), but it did get tossed onto her debut album, so I count it as hers as well! This song has a really smooth melody, and they were both pretty big stars at this time, so I am always surprised that it wasn't a bigger hit than it was. I imagine this will be pretty well received in her debut album rankdown, despite finishing bottom 5 here. This song lost the tie because its highest ranks were only a pair of top 5s, and the other three members of the tie all had even higher ranks. But you can see that this was on pace to finish in the 6-8 range before đșCountryLineDancer's #9 rank was enough to tank it at the last minute! That should tell you how close this back half of the top 10 was in this rankdown

One of her handful of non-album singles leaves next. "God Don't Make Mistakes" was her smallest actually-charting hit, peaking at #47. Honestly, I never would have recognized this one by title alone, but when listening for this rankdown I swear there is something familiar about it, so I'm thinking I must have heard it at least once or twice back during its chart run and then completely forgot about it... The "sometimes you're wondering why you're always at the right place at the wrong time" lyric in particular sounds sooooo familiar!
Either way, this is a pretty good song, so I am glad to have rediscovered it, despite my rank! Her catalog is just so strong, and as we get down to just her biggest hits it's an understandably tall order for her more minor hits to hang on. Nevertheless, a pair of top 3s helped it to win the tie with the Mark Wills duet, so it definitely still has some passion behind it!

We lose our first entry from Jamie's second album Brave now, with the album's third and final single "I Love My Life". This was her final song that could probably be described as a "hit", as it was unfortunately the last time she ever made the top 30. Personally I had never heard it before, but I think it is really catchy! It doesn't really scream "hit" to me though, so I can't help but wonder if there may have been better choices on the album. I haven't listened to this whole album yet, but I know "Devil On The Left" in particular has struck me as a potential single from the couple times I have heard it! nathanalbright's #2 rank helped this to be the 2nd-highest member of this tie, but it wasn't nearly enough to beat the multiple #1 ranks of the next song!!

"Like A Woman" is yet another non-album single from after her hit-making days had started to dry up, which managed to make it up to #43 on the charts. I figured it would have a little bit of an uphill battle thanks to its flop status and non-album status, but it managed to hang out on the cusp of the top 5 for much of this rankdown! Unfortunately this song got a LOT more hate than I expected, so its top 5 chances gradually slipped farther and farther away, and it eventually fell back to its lowest rank right at the end...
Anyway, I can think of literally zero acceptable reasons to rank this one outside of the top 10, aside from maybe the production sounding a tad low-budget. Melodically and vocally, this is the most impressive she has ever sounded.

Our final non-album single bows out next! "Every Little Thing" was the lead single from her ill-fated original second album, On My Way To You, which ended up getting shelved. Not sure if it was because of this song's underperformance or if this song underperformed because of label struggles that then caused the album to be shelved, but either way, she ended up re-recording a lot of the shelved songs for Brave. "Every Little Thing" was not one of them, unfortunately, so the only way you could hear it for this rankdown was KanenrĂĄ:ke's YouTube upload! This song was honestly barely a top 10 contender, so I was quite shocked to see it suddenly jump all the way up to #7 at the last possible second thanks to đșCountryLineDancer putting all of its biggest competition into a 4-way tie which allowed this one to jump ahead of all of them đ This one has gotten catchier the more I have heard it, but I am SHOCKED it did this well considering its "rare-track" status, which is typically a death sentence in these things!

Wow "Like a Woman" was fucking ROBBED. I get that it wasn't a hit but man... that song is absolutely fire. Easily her best vocals.

Wow "Like a Woman" was f**king ROBBED. I get that it wasn't a hit but man... that song is absolutely fire. Easily her best vocals. I might have to do an Extras rd as part of her album series to give it another chance. Since nobody shows up for those things, you and I should be able to give it quite a boost in that context ;)

I do like "I'm Not Gonna Do Anything Without You" but yeah also one of the weakest here lol
"God Don't Make Mistakes" has a gorgeous melody hence why it made it as high as it did lol
"I Love My Life" ain't bad and extremely catchy but yeah, she has much better.
"Like A Woman" well... stellar vocal by Jamie, no doubt! She sang the hell out of this! The song itself is really super bland tho sorry not sorry. I don't use it tbh
"Every Little Thing" is fine. Yeah lol. Decent for sure.

âShiverâ is really jumping out as the worst song left. I hope that is #6 and then we have a perfect and iconic Top 5.

I know you're being shady boat but as we've already established, if I'm not grabbed by a song musically I'm very rarely going to pay any attention to the lyrics so that's a non-factor lol.

Mark and Jamie sound fantastic together on "I'm Not Gonna Do Anything Without You". It is odd to look back and see it not do all that well considering they should've had the momentum at the time. "God Don't Make Mistakes" has such a great melody and I love her vocal here. I'm not religious at all but I can appreciate songs that are and this is one of my favorites. "I Love My Life" may be my last place here (and I'm surprised it made it this far) but I do like it. I just happen to find it a little generic coming from Jamie. I've found through her discography that she has a strong point of view most times, a character in her writing and vocals. It's mostly lost here for me. "Like A Woman" I do agree that this may be the best showcase of her vocal abilities for her belting and the power she can do. However I personally feel when compared to her other work I think she over does it here to the detriment of the song. It's very very nitpicky of me but it's a similar feeling I get with some of Carrie Underwood's songs. A little restraint would actually have improved her selling the emotions imo. at bboat11's take for why it got "tanked" haha "Every Little Thing" is catchy as fuck. I remember having the chorus stuck in my head for YEARS and I could never find the song. Then I finally tracked down a copy of her album and I was in heaven! The earworminess of this song helps carry it far in my list, as does the nostalgia. Did I over rank it? Maybe, but I can't help it I love it!

The earworminess of this song helps carry it far in my list, as does the nostalgia. Did I over rank it? Maybe, but I can't help it I love it! I agree with what you said about the duet, have always wished that one had done better. Same with "God Don't Make Mistakes", that deserved better I also agree with your take about "Like A Woman", just cause the vocals sound good don't mean they sell the lyrics good or that the melody and music is appealing. This song just doesn't work for me unfortunately

I still donât know what they were thinking sending this to radio as they third single. Itâs not that itâs a bad song but it doesnât sound like a hit at all, and several songs on her debut sound like smashes. I even think âFranticâ would have been HUGE if it came third.

"Shiver" is apparently her 5th-biggest hit based on its peak...which is a fact that I was a little bit surprised by since I hadn't really heard it before this rankdown! I had listened to bits and pieces of her debut album, but this isn't one that I remembered being a hit. It's probably just that I was still too young to notice when it was on radio, and then it got overshadowed by "Arizona" and "Angels" in recurrent play. Either way, it is a fantastic song, that has grown on me more and more every time I have listened to this playlist. I absolutely LOVE that steel guitar work in the intro, and how resonant her vocals are throughout this whole song Nevertheless, this top 5 is pretty iconic, and something had to fall short!
