The top 5 more or less ran away with this! "Frantic" landed at #5 with only only 3 submissions, and pretty much stayed there the entire time...and I'm sure you can imagine the reason it didn't ever stand a chance of doing any better is because her "big four" hits were never at any risk at all of doing worse than being in the top 4, lol. "Frantic" was the flop of her debut album, only peaking at #41, but clearly it is not due to a lack of quality in Pulse's opinion! This song has an infectious energy, represented pretty effectively by that iconic poppy fiddle melody that gives this song an immediately recognizable quality. nathanalbright is the only one to lose his #1 this time around. There are still 9 #1s spread between the remaining four songs

As I said, the "big 4" ran away with this!! "Somebody's Hero" had a very similar trajectory to "Frantic", landing at #4 after 3 lists and remaining there the entire time. The difference is that it managed to finish with nearly half the points of "Frantic"!! And then it's only 4 points lower than our #3, which is only 1 point lower than our #2....so the songs within the top 4 were all pretty competitive with each other despite what this stable #4 placement looks like!
"Somebody's Hero" was the first Jamie O'Neal song that I remember as an active hit. This video was aaaaaaaallll over CMT when I was still in my music video phase! Consequently I got pretty tired of it, and honestly I still don't love it as much as I otherwise might have under normal play-levels... Still, it's such a great song, I couldn't put it any lower than #6 on my own list.

Our final song from Brave leaves us next, in the form of lead single "Trying To Find Atlantis". Similar to the last two reveals, this one settled in at #3 and then literally never let up. Despite only peaking at #18, this is absolutely seen as one of her iconic hits, possibly even the only song of her career that I would say is remembered as feeling like a bigger hit than it actually was! Personally, I used to hate the melody to this one... That chorus is kinda in-your-face and loud, relentlessly hitting the same notes over and over even when the chord progression changes. It's just kind of a brash sound that imo doesn't show off her voice like her best songs do. That being said, I think it has just taken me some time to get used to, because now I am starting to recognize it as the jam that it is Putting Sara Evans on the new rerecording for the Sometimes album definitely helped in that regard as well, as her voice makes literally everything sound better!

The Sara Evans duet version of this made me like it A LOT more. It took it to a whole new level, much more so than the other duet versions she released of her old hits.

Alrighty, it should probably come as no surprise that the top 2 comes down to both of Jamie's #1 hits... "There Is No Arizona" vs. "When I Think About Angels" Which one do you think is going to win?!!? And if you are starting to feel confident either way, just know that these two songs spent equal amounts of time at #1, unlike the rest of the top 5 that all settled into their respective positions without shifting

Arizona had better win this. Angels is not bad, but I don't find it particularly strong compared with her other songs on the list.

Still love that Sara gives us her 2nd ever belted F5 in the harmonies "Big Cry" was the only one, and now "Trying To Find Atlantis" 17 years later! Sara and Jamie are the queens of not aging!

There you have it! It's probably the most predictable finish, but that doesn't mean it's wrong! Early on the competition between "Angels" and "Arizona" was really fun to watch, as they were neck-and-neck for the longest time until "Arizona" started to pull away in the second half Both of these songs are iconic for a reason! "When I Think About Angels" just has a really uplifting uptempo vibe to it, and "There Is No Arizona" has that super creative hook on top of that haunting atmosphere!

LBTrocks it's pretty amazing that you were still able to have "Arizona" at #1 despite the harmonica!!!!

Oh thank God. I was worried when you dropped the bomb that "Angels" was #1 for half the submission process because what in the hell? 😂
"Angels" is cute and has a catchy chorus melody, but it legit has some dumb lyrics that weigh it down and "Arizona" by comparison is just a MASTERPIECE. It's definitely the rightful winner and most quintessential Jamie O'Neal hit.

God Don't Make Mistakes (137) 09. I Love My Life (137) 08. Like A Woman (137) 07. Every Little Thing (134) 06. Shiver (125) 05. Frantic (111) 04. Somebody's Hero (68) 03. Trying To Find Atlantis (64) 02. When I Think About Angels (63) 01. There Is No Arizona (41) Thank you everyone for participating and following along!!! 15 lists is pretty good for an artist who isn't as "big" as some of the usual artists who get rankdowns! Personally I felt like the brevity of her career made this rankdown feel like a nice refreshing change of pace from the bigger singles rankdowns. I hope you guys had as much fun diving in to her singles as I did :) Stay tuned for the first album rankdown to open, hopefully this evening!!! I am eager to keep this momentum going and see how y'all feel about some of her brilliant songs that were never released to radio

The Sara Evans duet version of this made me like it A LOT more. It took it to a whole new level, much more so than the other duet versions she released of her old hits. It made me wish it was a Sara original LOL. I’ve always loved this song but Sara was made for it.

LBTrocks it's pretty amazing that you were still able to have "Arizona" at #1 despite the harmonica!!!! It's one of those rare instances where I'm fine with it cuz I like the melody it's playing and the song itself is SO KILLER I've always been obsessed with this one, from the melody to the lyrics. Forever a favorite and I'm so glad the obvious choice won here! Thanks for hosting bboat11 I really look forward to the album series especially Shiver
