a few words to some deserving songs:
30.
When the Lady Smiles -
Golden Earring Vugly revalled this one. Probably saw the MV once or twice on MTV. Never once on the radio tho. Pity cause it would have made my top songs of that year. Excellent buildup intro. Strong Pop rock vibe. Could have been a harder rockier side of The Outfield or The Romantics. Loving the two bold top 10 ranks it got. I tried at #14, but I Actua;y been thinking of charting this for the first time ever. Well see?
29.
Shy Boy -
Bananarama Gotta love Bananaramma. This original style of their's had a light sunny fun time at the beach vibe. A lot like Culture Club. Very 80's fun.
28.
Everytime You Cry -
The OutfieldOne of the most popular 80's bands on this sde of the border. We love these guys. Love the BIG Stadium rock sound of this song. Kinda fitting for a band who calls themselves The Outfield.
27.
The Right Thing -
Simply RedA perfect example opf 80's Sophistipop. Great song, popwerful delivery . Little bit of Blow Monkeyes in there too.
26.
Mary, Mary -
Run-D.M.C. You all know the only time this rap duo ever hit my charts was with an Aerosmith cameo. Yup that classic Rock song helped get this band a top 10 song on my charts. Sorry that's about as positive a memory as I recall from this duo.
25.
Don't Leave Me This Way -
The Communards with Sarah Jane MorrisJimmy Sommerville had the perfect vocals for this cover. Kept the Disco sound intact, but in 80's fashion. Jeanie Tracy also covered this in glorious H-NRG style in 1985. I have this '12 vinyl burried somewhere in my collection.
24.
(Believed You Were) Lucky -
'Til TuesdayThis one didn't do much for me. A bit on The Bangles side musically. It was a nice sort of simple Pop song that could have also been a hit in the 90's
23.
Voices -
Cheap TrickWasn't too familar with this one when it was out. TBH I only got into Cheap Trick's ballad side after "The Flame" came out. These days these one sounds great. "Ghost Town" comes to mind.
22.
Can You Feel the Beat -
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full ForceAlways dug 80's Freestyle. This and "Wonder If I'de Take You Home" was them at thier strongest.
21.
Can't Hold Back (Your Loving) - Kano
I only knew of thier Italo classic "I'm Ready". This one had a calm style Disco feel to it, but nothing too exciting.
20.
What You Get Is What You See - Tina Turner
Never heard this one before. Sounded a bit like a Juice Newton type song. Not a bad County feel, but I didn't think her vocals meshed well with this poprock style at all. This song reminded me of Ian Hunter's "All Of The Good Ones Are Taken" which oddly I did chart.
19.
The Sun and the Rain -
MadnessOne of my least favorite songs from this band. What some might consider fun sounded pretty silly to me.
18.
Move Away -
Culture ClubThe last time this band hit my top 10 was with this song. Though it came together in perfect melodic harmony. Boy George really captured that feel of the 'Color By Numbers'LP.
17.
Wonderland -
Big CountryCharted a couple of songs from this band. One of those went top 10. Not too familar with this one. Had a bit of The Alarm sound but not as strong.
16.
Apache -
The Sugarhill GangI couldn't make haeds or tails out of this song. If "Tonto jump on it" is the best you can come with for an opening lyric I'm out the door.
15.
Bringin' on the Heartbreak -
Def LeppardI have to admit when this song first came out I didn't go crazy for it, bit it was around when my muscial tatses starting taking bud. I actually heard this after "Photograph". This has that classic Metal ballad Def Leppard style, and there is nothing like hearing Joe Elliott screaking his was through a song when he was vocally 100+ %. Wonder if those bottom votes kept this out of the top 10?
14.
Rain -
DragonThis one is a classic down here. Rides on what we call the Spanish Rock style. Not surprised
Juanca would put this at 31. Great song.
13.
Make That Move -
ShalamarVery groovy Disco jam. wasn't familar with it back then, but sounded good on this list.
12.
If Anyone Falls -
Stevie NicksWow! Stevie Nicks missing the top 10 on a PULSE RD. That's a first. Wonder if has anything to de with the fact that this song sounds like a late 80's Journey song? Actually a nice song. One of my favorite Stevie Solo songs. Rides on the same synth chord through most of the song, but it gives it a nice gliding feel.
11.
Pleasure and Pain -
DivinylsShame I couldn't slot this one any higher. Blame it on 21 other songs, but I do like this song. I would have given the much more fiercer sounding "Boys In Town" a top slot. If you like this song go listen to 'Desperate'.
Great to see I still have quite a few Top 10 songs left. ;)
10.
China -
Red RockersMy actual top 10 song. Love this song. Very underrated. Only place I ever caught it was on MTV, but that was enough for me to chart it.
9.
Catch My Fall -
Billy IdolOne of the most iconic voices of the 80's. Billy is Always been present on my charts sparking up the airwaves with his NRG. This was a great New Wave song. That whole album had hit after hit. If you love this check out Billy with his newest "Cage".
8.
How to Be a Millionaire -
ABCTake note you all, beacuse this is how you do a proper 'Bling Bling" song. Can't belive this didn't gop top 10 back then. Glad to see it score big on this RD.
7.
I'm Goin' Down -
Bruce SpringsteenFour of my actual top 10 songs in a row. Nice. This was Bruce at his Heartland Rock Bop height.
6.
You Have Placed a Chill in My Heart -
EurythmicsNot one of my favorites. I really liked that mystic New Wave sound they had early in thier carrer. Madonna could pull this off, but it sounds too Poptarts for this band.
5.
The Sign of Fire -
The FixxSounds good for a New Wave song, but I never liked it for this band. It had an eerie Fobia style feel to it, but lacked an sort of catchy vibe what so ever.
4.
One in a Million -
The Romantics Now this is my type of song. I dodn't why , but I thought you all would have tanked it. Glad you didn't tho. Such a fun bop.
3.
To Live and Die in L.A. - Wang Chung
Another great song. The composition sounds a bit like the serious a-ha style of the mid 80's, but it really works, and the synths have a bit of a dartk Italo style. BTW go watch this movie. GReat Frickin' Flick. Trust me.
2.
I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man) -
Kenny LogginsI actually like this song now a whole lot more than when it was out. Funny enough it sounds like the RetroWave style coming out now days from my favorite Reckless, Love and one of you guys favorites The Weekend.
1.
Take Me with U -
Prince and the Revolution with ApolloniaNot even Appolonoa Skinny dipping could get it into my top 10, but I do love this song. Peaked at the same exact slot on my charts back then as well. A nice romantic Pop song worthy of some 80's loving.
@rolwellfarm490
Great Rd. Love the vids, artwork, the works. I actually ended up with 6/10 of my own top 10 songs on this list. Only other time I might do this good if ifwe were ranking an all 80's Metal songs RD. and still who knows? Seems the only ones you all don't agree with are my Glam Metal classics. Still a great ride down memory lane. Looking forward to part 2.
