Happy to see the representation for LGBT+ black artists in the mainstream ATM with Lil Nas X, Tyler, Steve Lacy, possibly Lil Uzi Speaking of Uzi, it makes me so sad that they're facing so much transphobia. Everyone was supportive of LNX, Sam Smith, and Demi Lovato, and it makes me sad that they're not getting the same support. I mean, I'm not surprised, given their target audience, but still.

Well with Bad Habits most likely being recurrent now, we needed the next Hate Sheersn bingo card entry, Ok, now who's heard the Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran song called "For My Hand"? That song deserves maximum success, attention and explosion 😐😒

Uzi on the other hand gets more transphobic comments than supportive ones. Also people have been purposely misgendering them. I'm not saying that Sam and Demi don't get purposely misgendered sometimes, cause they do, but it happens to Uzi way more often.

Sadly, I think this has a lot to do with the genre Uzi has established themselves in. Historically speaking, mainstream hip-hop has had a reputation of being very unfriendly toward the LGBTQ community for a variety of reasons that I won’t go into here (but a number of articles and papers have done extensive research on this). So I’m not surprised that one of their biggest stars of the past decade coming out has resulted in more dismissal than support from hip-hop fans. (EDIT: unintentional misgendering)

2018 should have an asterisk. The 6/30/2018 (XXXTentacion's death) and 7/14/2018 (Scorpion) threads would have easily broken 30 pages had they not been locked for a good portion of the discussion period.

But also because of that, I have to say that Uzi's coming out is definitely the bravest coming out ever. I have to give them props for that.

So with Bad Habits near death, Stay getting close, and who knows if Heat Waves will ever die - what, if any, current songs on the Hot 100 are our next gen 52+ Weekers?

Woman, Cold Heart, and Ghost should get to 52 weeks, but not beyond. Shivers could also get there if Beyoncé doesn’t push it off. Big Energy and Wasted On You have the potential to go beyond 52 weeks, especially if the latter goes far in a Pop or AC format.

feel like it's very telling that Uzi has probably gotten more flack for using they/them pronouns than their abuse :/ some peoples priorities are fucked

Isaiah Rashad is also pure rap, but he's gotten overwhelming support after coming out. I think it's more of a case-by-case thing, or really just an issue of the hip hop community being more accepting of non-straight sexualities than non-cis gender identities

I see all the others though just hitting 52 and nit going beyond. I don't see much charting lower though with 10 weeks or so already, having potential for 53 or more weeks. So that pushes us to next summer at least, for one to reach the mark. So after a stretch of a bunch we could be heading to some down time in the department. course, on the other hand, one just never knows :)

This year is very slow when compared to other years...longevity on the charts seems to be more popular to talk about and criticize at the same time. I have yet to see a breakout star 2019: LNX, 2020: Roddy Rich, 2021: Olivia Rodrigo, 2022: ?????????????????
