why is Break My Soul kinda doing terrible on US Spotify? I mean, she's doing great compared to someone like Katy, lol, but compared to her airplay numbers something isn't adding up. It is weird its streaming kept declining while airplay kept rising considering how new it is (it's not just Spotify; it fell 27-28 on the most recent Streaming Songs chart). Having said that, it has been rising on Spotify the past few days, presumably due to hype for the album release. I'm sure it will make a jump on Streaming Songs now.

A close race for #1 this week and maybe Heat Waves out of the top 10?

Hopefully this one is accurate - would love Heat Waves to stay in the top 10 and break both of Blinding Lights records eventually for longevity.

Either way, this will probably be Heat Waves’ last week in the top 10. If it doesn’t get triple teamed by Bad Habit, I Like You, and Sunroof this week, it will by next week, and that’s not counting the possibility of Beyoncé getting a song or two in the top 10. And Mi Porto Bonito will probably have the same fate, even if it’s probably locked for a spot in the top 10 this week.

Break My Soul’s biggest formats are Urban & Rhythmic which do nothing for boosting sales/streams. That’s always how that’s been.
4 era singles, BEYONCE era singles, etc were huge hits on those formats and would still be like #50 on iTunes.
Break My Soul is “only” #13 on Pop radio & #20 on HAC radio. That very moderate play on those formats is not gonna translate to any strong streaming.

Even if MPB falls off the Top 10 for Beyoncé week, I can see it returning there, especially if Bad Bunny pushes the song on radio. It’s pretty clear that Moscow Mule and TMP aren’t going to do much on radio, so why not give MPB the full push.

At this point, I highly doubt that Mi Porto Bonito is getting that radio push you are suggesting. If they wanted to push it to radio, they probably would have started the push a month or two ago when it became clear it was gonna the best performing song off the album in the long run. Plus, I’m pretty sure Bad Habit, Sunroof, and I Like You would all have gained enough points by the time they actually do push it to radio that unless it performs very well there it won’t mean anything. And that’s not counting continued streaming slips and the possibility that it just doesn’t make much of an impact on radio. The only real chance I can see it returning to the top 10 is if the song stays stable enough once it leaves that It can return once First Class or Wait For U leave, and even then, that’s a pretty big if given this assumption excludes the possibility of future single releases that could make an impact in the top ten.

Hopefully this one is accurate - would love Heat Waves to stay in the top 10 and break both of Blinding Lights records eventually for longevity. I would hate that to happen. I don't like Heat Waves. Top 10 record is safe for BL anyway. But Heat Waves is the clear favorite for the most weeks spent on Hot 100 record. Only a huge album bomb (Taylor? Travis?) at the right time can stop Heat Waves from breaking the record.

At the end of last week’s thread, I had brought up the scenario where Taylor released on 9/30 (which would be tracking week of HW’s record-tying 90th week) and a major artist releasing on 10/7 (which would be the record-breaking 91st week). In this scenario, Taylor’s album pushed Stay to recurrency after 64 weeks, the other artist pushed Big Energy below 50 and to recurrency short of its 52 weeks, and HW survived. At this point, I think the only way that HW doesn’t break the record is if two big artists release an album on the same week before 10/7. The chances of that happening are close to zero.

Look, I've accepted Heat Waves was going to beat Blinding Lights' record a couple of months ago, back around the time where it hit number one in its 59th week, the new singles/album releases of April-May did nothing to it besides introduce new songs that can nudge it down one spot on the Hot 100, and my main way of chart info was through Twitter. At this point, I just want Heat Waves to beat the record and move on, even if I'll feel somewhat angry that one of the best hit songs of the past couple of years lost its record to a mediocre one.

Drake mentioned a few weeks ago that he plans on releasing another Scary Hours pack this year. Depending on timing and how many songs are on it, I could see that knocking Heat Waves off.

All you just pointed out really that radio play has little correlation to help selling music today. Which again means… Break My Soul’s airplay isn’t gonna do much for it’s streaming. Also you’re comparing 20 something year old male artists in the peak of their career to a 40+ year old female veteran. I mean, yeah they’re going to have better streaming than her in nearly any scenario regardless? Just like a new Harry Styles or BTS song is going to attract more streams than a new Mariah Carey song in 2022, even if Mariah were to get more airplay.

The lapsed soccer mom fans aren't stalking twitter and Instagram daily, after years without new music for word of new music. They heard it in the radio and then if they liked it went and streamed it.

All predictions seem to be in agreement on Bad Habits and Flower Shops going recurrent (finally), but have Master of Puppets staying on the chart.

Why would Wait For U (Rap), Bad Bunny (Latin) and Morgan Wallen (country) perform better than Break My Soul (dance pop) on CHR?
Those songs aren't doing numbers on Pop because they're not made for that format, not because the format is unwilling to play music that is streaming well. They do when it fits the genre (Running Up That Hill) or even sometimes out of curiosity to middling numbers (Bodak Yellow).

I have nothing interesting to add other than that I wish RUTH could hit #1
I know we’ve all said that and talked about it a million times already but it will be the only thing I think about until it dies at radio
