Artist: Maren Morris Single: "I Can’t Love You Anymore" Writers: Greg Kurstin, Maren Morris, Ryan Hurd Album: Humble Quest Label: Columbia Nashville Impact Date: September 26, 2022 According to this radio station’s Twitter, the new Maren Morris single will be “I Can’t Love You Anymore”. I assume there will be a radio edit & that it’ll impact at the end of August or sometime in September.

I’m not sure if this is confirmation enough for me to believe but if it’s genuine then thank god. Columbia and her team were about to make a HUGE mistake with Good Friends.
I can see this one peaking in the Top 10 like CATC when all is said and done.

Thank god they made the correct choice. I don’t know if it’s a number 1 hit, but I’m hopeful it can at least do what Circles did.

It’s going to be a hit, perhaps a soft radio-only hit, but the rest of the album won’t do much. I do like this one, happy to see it get released.

Agreed. This was IT when it came to single options.
I'm seeing a deluxe version of Humble Quest in our future, because I have no idea where she would go from here, single wise.

I don't know why people think "Detour" wouldn't make a good single, because it's an obvious standout to me. I think it would do well for Maren if she wanted to push a ballad after "I Can't Love You Anymore".

I am not on board with this being "the" option but it is certainly much smarter than "Good Friends". Maybe it'll grow on me.

100% the best choice they could've made from what she had on this dirge of an album. I feel hopeful that this will potentially make the top 20 for her, but idk about top 10.

I echo the above posters that this is definitely the best choice. I'm not really sold on this era of Maren, but these two singles so far are both solid. Still, I honestly want her to move on to the next era sooner than later, as "Circle", being the strongest song on the album, barely moved the needle, and I cannot see this or whatever coming up as the third single would do any better.

Oh good. Another pop hit would be a great move for her to make at this point to spur some interest back into her career.

What happened to the pre album press “I didn’t want to be a pop star after The Middle. Back to my tractor roots!”
*releases a “country” album of pop sounding lullabies*
*releases a Pop collab”
LOL. I love Maren (at least the first two eras) but come on. I hope this is a bop, though.

That’s why I have no expectations about this being as massive or as catchy as The Middle. 😂 I’d love to be proven wrong though.

I do think it's normal for someone like her to go back and forth between what she wants from her career. To enter the genre as a Texan rootsy girl then IMMEDIATELY release "The Middle" and blow up in Pop followed by a generally Pop album "GIRL".... it would make sense for her to respond to all the "what happened to the HERO Maren???" with the idea she wants to "return home" to country. That, on top of having a kid, had to have made her head spin... I don't see too far into her doing another collab with Zedd, hell, I'm sure it's paid some bills, and she is certainly no stranger to what we all know regarding "Humble Quest" not doing what she probably hoped it had done.
I like that she does what she wants even if it contradicts her previous statements.

Eh, "entered the scene as Texan rootsy girl"? Her image is never that lol.
Besides, I don't think this forum cares too much on artists that dabble in both country and pop (the person that writes the message has a Taylor Swift profile pic), but maybe don't give contradictory statements?

I saw Maren live last night and "I Can't Love You Anymore" was definitely a standout in the setlist. The crowd's response to the song was awesome, so I'm hoping with proper promo, it'll continue to connect with listeners.
I'm excited that Maren is going to have 2 radio singles at different formats very soon. I think this was a very smart move for her to help her regain some momentum.

As shown in this week’s edition of Country Aircheck Weekly, there is a handwritten message from Maren thanking Country radio for their support and confirming I Can’t Love You Anymore as the next single for the “messed up romantics”.

I see the 'hump it or dump it' term hasn't gone anywhere Anyway, this is a decent song but it's no "Nervous" and her whole album is really not good lol.

If Sam Hunt took Break Up In a Small Town all the way to number 2, I don't see why Maren can't do the same with Nervous... at least top 20, could it be possible?
I Can't Love You Anymore is a bit repetitive, but I hope for some success for her.

Because I'm not sure I understand this comparison. Right. Plus Sam Hunt is a male, and we all know that's a big advantage at country radio. Having any expectation for a single by a woman because a male did well is not logical, whether or not the songs are similar/related.

Because I'm not sure I understand this comparison. I mean that they're both far removed from country. Yet, if country radio supported one, why not the other?

This is, I think, the best choice at a hit remaining on the album. That being said, I don't have high hopes commercially for this. I can see it going top 20 at best.

When is the impact date for this? Feel like she needs it to come out sooner than later.

The person I'm mutuals with on Maren's marketing team said that mid to late September is when it'll impact, but that's subject to change currently. Like you mentioned, it needs to come sooner than later before she loses the bit of momentum she has from CATT.

They honestly should've sent this as impacting immediately as soon as CATT was dropped, as she barely has any momentum. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they only go for two singles this era.

I hope they release a deluxe version of HQ next year and they end up promoting a deluxe track if ICLYA were to flop.

Any word on if this is still getting released? Just seems a little weird we haven't at least been given an adds date.
This situation kind of reminds me of what we saw with "Bathroom Sink" by Miranda Lambert. Where there were many sources saying it was the next single (even Miranda herself), but Sony ultimately choosing to not release it and close the era instead. Wonder if they are thinking about moving on from this album era.
