The Hot 100 in the 80s was a pure pop chart. The airplay component then may have been "pure pop" in that it only measured 'mainstream' play, but the sales chart and the Hot 100 in general was of course inclusive to any music that sold well. Plenty of R&B/funk/hip-hop/etc songs charted on the Hot 100 and even charted fairly high. Even Top 40 radio made room for songs like "I Feel For You" (#3 peak) and "In My House" (#7 peak). Pop has a pretty broad definition Call it what you will, I suppose Even the old AT40 shows (that are still played weekly on oldies stations) referred to it as a pop chart, if you want to call it something else - fine with me |

it’s only Tuesday and I expect another version or 2 to hit iTunes before tracking week is over She said on her Queen radio show that she doesn't plan on releasing different versions and videos because she wants the song to organically grow with the GP. That’s the thing, I think she could have a shot at #1 in a few weeks. Streams are staying steady so far and all she’ll need to do is let airplay build and then drop the video at a perfect time. |

If Nicki has a good streaming hold next week, #1 could happen for her eventually with airplay. But that's a big if. None of her recent releases has held on well. Let's see. Exactly. Streaming seems to be holding well with spotify, but AM is slipping. Not to mention the sales will be much lower next week, so much so that i'm not so sure a video and radio will be able to make up that loss. I'd say now is her best chance. |

With the high sales for BTS and now Nicki, are we to expect that Blackpink will score a decent debut next week? Probably not, just because for some reason their label doesn't do digital sales and tactics for them like nicki's & BTS's labels do. They could easily score a top 10 with each release if this was the case (highly doubt a #1 though). I'm gonna say top 35 based on previous releases and the fact that sales are down from the new rules. |

My prediction is sales ls SFG will be north of 50K simply because a lot of GP are buying not just barbs . I don’t know Winston so this is not a diss at him , just to clarify I don't think the GP (non-Barbz in this case) really care about downloads, people will just stream the song. yeah...in 2022, most of the audience isn't buying anything unless they're stans. i haven't bought anything non-taylor this decade. |
