I'm wondering if they're going to switch this in favour of "Body Paint", which will be out later this week.

According to a post in the Arctic Monkeys reddit, someone has heard the new album and implied that those who only liked the style of their older material will hate it.
I'm guessing that rules out an alternative hit for this era.
I'm honestly fine with this. Bands should change up their style from time to time rather than regurgitate the same thing over and over again, and both new songs are imo, gorgeous. They may lose some commercial success but if the reception is worth it (ie not Speeding Bullet to Heaven), they should try. Just as long as it is not hybrid, please.
Also, since the band is much bigger in the UK, I think Domino/the band will focus more on their British chart success, even though their album is competing with Taylor Swift. They've had eras with no US radio hits between Do I Wanna Know? and IBYLGOTD.

Arctic Monkeys going from having a heavy garage rock sound from when they started out to slowly pivoting more towards a soft lock and lounge music fusion is such a hard pill to swallow. I'll admit that I have yet to get around to Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino simply because of the lack of fanfare for it. In addition to that, I'll admit like most others that this new lead single is very mid and it's easy to see why it's seen little to no radio action whatsoever. I try to be open-minded, and I'm sure something good can be said about AM's softer material if I give myself the patience for it, but I just hope that we see them return to that classic sound at any later point.

They've had eras with no US radio hits between Do I Wanna Know? and IBYLGOTD. Like I mentioned before, this change in style probably makes a lot more sense to UK fans than it does to American ones, since the sonic influences of TBH+C and The Car are artists like Pulp and Scott Walker who were not especially popular in the US (Even though Walker was American). I think both of these new songs are very good, too. Arctic Monkeys don't seem to like revisiting past styles they've left behind all that much, so I was never expecting more hard stoner rock stuff. In fact, one of my favorite songs on AM was "No. 1 Party Anthem", which is the song on that album that was the best indicator of where their sound would be going next.
