Looks like Last Night could sneak into the Hot 100 year-end as long as radio audience doesn't drop too quickly for it in the next weeks. It could even have a chance to chart for more than 20 weeks. Maybe I spoke a bit too soon: 25(-2) Jon Pardi - Last Night Lonely 34.43(-1.35)

Really hope Beyonce's team starts actually promoting Renaissance... she teased visuals for it like a month ago and nothing has come of it, idk what her team is doing right now. It's not like Beyonce needs more hits but pushing Alien Superstar or even Cuff It would be a really good idea right now The rollout has been strange. So much emphasis on BMS and nothing else? “Cuff It” is a missed opportunity. I wonder what the plan is at this point because it feels like she’s letting Act 1 slip away.

7 Songs About Queen Elizabeth II (And What Each Artist Said About Her) Madonna, The Beatles, Sex Pistols and more.
By Joe Lynch
09/8/2022
That much is clear just by looking at the music inspired by the long-running ruler of the royal family. For every positive or neutral tune about the Queen (such as the Beatles’ quickie “Her Majesty,” where Paul McCartney sings, “Her Majesty’s a pretty nice girl but she doesn’t have a lot to say”), there’s a sneering “God Save the Queen” from Sex Pistols or a hostile “The Queen Is Dead” by the Smiths (both all-time rock classics).
Primal Scream’s “Insect Royalty” is, unsurprisingly, not terribly flattering; The Stone Roses’ “Elizabeth My Dear” may sound more kindly upon first glance, but with lyrics like “Tear me apart and boil my bones / I’ll not rest ’til she’s lost her throne,” it really isn’t much more positive.
Some songs just reference her in passing, such as Madonna’s Rebel Heart track “Illuminati,” where she declares the so-called secret society isn’t “Queen Elizabeth or Kanye.” Others, like Pet Shop Boys’ “Dreaming of the Queen,” are more impressionistic: “Dreaming of the Queen / Visiting for tea / You and her and I / And Lady Di.”
Take a listen to seven of these songs below and see what each artist has said about Queen Elizabeth II over the years.
"Her Majesty," The Beatles (1969)
While John Lennon returned his Order of the British Empire MBE in protest of Britain’s involvement in various conflicts and wars, Paul McCartney has had kinder things to say about Elizabeth over the years. On the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee in early 2022, he said, “70 beautiful years of Queen Elizabeth the second. Congrats ma’ am!” Listen here.
"God Save the Queen," Sex Pistols (1977)
While the Sex Pistols’ 1977 single is savagely anti-royal, singer John Lydon later clarified that he’s got nothing against her personally. “God bless the Queen. She’s put up with a lot,” he wrote in the U.K. paper The Times. “I’ve got no animosity against any one of the royal family. Never did. It’s the institution of it that bothers me and the assumption that I’m to pay for that.” Listen here.
"The Queen Is Dead," The Smiths (1986)
Morrissey has been slagging Queen Elizabeth for decades, almost too many times to count. Hell, it was even the name of the Smiths’ third studio album. Explaining what motivates his hatred for the royals to an Australian outlet in 2016, he said, “Monarchy represents an unequal and inequitable social system. There is no such thing as a royal person. You either buy into the silliness or else you are intelligent enough to realize that it is all human greed and arrogance.” Listen here.
"Elizabeth My Dear," The Stone Roses (1989)
Before playing “Elizabeth My Dear” live in 2012, Stone Roses singer Ian Brown expressed frustration with those “celebrating 60 years of tyranny” on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee. Listen here.
"Dreaming of the Queen," Pet Shop Boys (1993)
Without taking an explicit stance on the royal family, Neil Tennant explained what inspired him to write about the Queen: “I’d read that one of the most common dreams people share is that the Queen comes round to their house.” Listen here.
"Insect Royalty," Primal Scream (1998)
Speaking to Pitchfork in 2020, frontman Bobby Gillespie explained what motivated his royal antipathy. “In 1977, we had the Silver Jubilee and all this crazy patriotism. People wore Union Jacks and worshipped the royal family. As a kid, I f–king hated the royal family — I still do — so buying [Sex Pistols’] ‘God Save the Queen’ really felt like a real anti-authoritarian gesture.” Listen here.
"Illuminati," Madonna (2016)
After meeting the Queen in 2002, the Queen of Pop reportedly burst out laughing (not to her face) when it became clear the British monarch had no idea who she or Die Another Day co-star John Cleese were. Listen here.

Me dancing to "As It Was" right now: Dancing to that snoozefest? It could work much better as a lullaby? When I think of aiw and dance, I think of the kidz bop version lol. I was curious and went through a bunch of kidz bop videos a couple months ago to see just how bad the lyrics were, and I came across that one.

OneRepublic third top ten, all three different decades right? It would be their fourth top 10. But yes, three decades. Their current top 10s: Apologize in 2007 Good Life in 2009 Counting Stars in 2013

OneRepublic third top ten, all three different decades right? It will actually be their fourth top ten. And yes, they will have had a top ten hit in three different decades. They're first three were Apologize, Good Life, and Counting Stars. Edit: Music Fan beat me to it. But also Good Life was 2011 not 2009.

I think they're counting the year the song first came out on the Waking Up album, but yeah Good Life didn't hit the top 10 until 2011

I Ain't Worried gets its highest peak yet rising 13%, golden hours continues its momentum by climbing 14%, Static is building momentum up 11%, as is BILLIE EILISH. by 14%, both Something in the Orange and Until I Found You rebounded by 10%, Bones rose 16% to go along its radio push, Calm Down gained some traction by going up 22%, Sex Drugs Etc. went viral 13%, Bound 2 continues it's late resurgence by gaining 32%, as has Flashing Lights up 12%, Everlong went up 18% off of the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert, Romantic Homicide shot up 30%, and I'm Good (Blue) rocketed up 71% because people are suckers for blatant nostalgic sampling.

I don't get the meltdowns over "As It Was" here. It's a perfectly crafted pop song that blends current trends and what the GP wants right now, by a hugely popular artist with a lot of goodwill from the public. Also, the song is so inoffensive that anyone can get into it. I really don't get it how it can be absolutely hated on by anybody

I don't get the meltdowns over "As It Was" here. It's a perfectly crafted pop song that blends current trends and what the GP wants right now, by a hugely popular artist with a lot of goodwill from the public. Also, the song is so inoffensive that anyone can get into it. I really don't get it how it can be absolutely hated on by anybody Most current-active members here actually love the song
