Renaissance was released July, and it’s now September and they still haven’t even pushed a second single officially yet.
I think it’s becoming likely at this point the era will have 1 single.
The album being billed as “Act I” makes me think it’s similar to Folklore/Evermore, and it’ll only have one single because in a few months we will have another era.

Congrats to “As It Was” for smashing so hard (and to these threads for hopefully not being derailed by this topic anymore) Unpopular opinion (according to this site): As It Was is a GREAT song and DESERVES all its success. At least other songs have been getting to the top as well with 6 songs hitting the top spot in between. Imagine if AIW was at #1 for all 22 of its weeks so far the outcry on here would be even more bigger

I just realized that with Ghost projected to be in the Top 10 of the YE, Justice joins After Hours, Future Nostalgia. And SOUR as albums in 2020s that had multiple singles end up in the YE Top 10
So weird that Justice is up there for an album that's had little lasting cultural impact

It being the biggest hit of the decade so far alongside Blinding Lights just feels right, obviously mostly because it's literally everywhere, but a large part of it is just that the song is great too

So I've seen on social media that Blackpink are releasing a new single title "Shut Down" and it is being marketed as the title track of the album... Born pink? Does "title track" mean something else in Korean music market speak?

Not sure, but R.E.M. once titled an album Eponymous, so it might be the same kind of reference.

Does "title track" mean something else in Korean music market speak? the term “title track” basically means it’s the focus single in kpop speak. Edit; omg Teddy Sinclair worked on Born Pink holy s**t? Good for her

I just realized that with Ghost projected to be in the Top 10 of the YE Wow I had no idea. That seems odd when you figure Heat Waves, Stay, As It Was, Easy on Me, About Damn Time, Shivers, and even Running Up That Hill have had fairly long runs in the top 5. I guess charting early in the chart year really is important.

Yes, and Ghost is one of the most stable hits of the year weeks in the top 10: 12 weeks in the top 20: 24 weeks in the top 40: 47 It didn't spend too much time in the top 10, and for that reason it won't be high on all-time and decade-end charts, but longevity in the top 20/40 surely helped with that top 10 YE position.

Numb Little Bug and Stay are both really close from going recurrent but might survive due to the lack of competition on the charts, maybe the former might go while the latter survives. I can see it happening that way, especially once you consider how Vegas is the only song that has the threat to pass Stay within the next couple weeks (idk about 5 Foot 9 and Last Night Lonely), while there's considerably more songs that can potentially pass NLB (even with the only one being Unstoppable, as of now). Doesn't help NLB's chances that it's losing faster on radio.

I also like both albums, not sure about the top 2 of the decade though, but I'm also not sure about the "little lasting cultural impact" part. Given that all of the albums mentioned were released within roughly the last two years (and Justice and SOUR just last year), this can't really be determined yet. Maybe so far, of all of the albums, Justice seems the least culturally impactful, but we can't conclude yet that it has in general had "little lasting cultural impact."

Really hope Beyonce's team starts actually promoting Renaissance... she teased visuals for it like a month ago and nothing has come of it, idk what her team is doing right now. It's not like Beyonce needs more hits but pushing Alien Superstar or even Cuff It would be a really good idea right now

Looks like Last Night could sneak into the Hot 100 year-end as long as radio audience doesn't drop too quickly for it in the next weeks. It could even have a chance to chart for more than 20 weeks.

Cuff It is already out of Hot 100 and AS is also dropping out so they might as well move onto Act 2 come October.

You Proof might renter the top 10 this week - shame it wasn’t Wasted On You beating the record for time between top 10 runs but it’ll be great to see the songs legs. If it get pushed to pop I could see it having some serious longevity, it’s his poppiest song

Burn, Burn, Burn by Zach Bryan is a fan favorite unreleased track that was just added to streaming. Might impact the bubbling under or lower reaches next week given how great Zach’s year has been

I’m really so surprised at Wait For U’s longevity.
Also because the fact the song still hasn’t connected for me. Probably my least favorite Drake-related smash in his career.
