Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I really like "Cold Heart" while I don't care for "Hold Me Closer." The former felt like a creative interpolation of multiple different songs, whereas the latter feels like they stripped "Tiny Dancer" down to the most generic dance remix possible.

I really like jazz pop style songs, and it at least isn’t the same thing over and over That's really interesting, because your criticism of "the same thing being repeated over and over" is the reason why I don't like "Hold Me Closer." The original "Tiny Dancer" is so lyrically descriptive, whereas "Hold Me Closer" just strips it down to the repetition of "hold me closer" being repeated over and over in the chorus. "Cold Heart" feels a bit more lyrically complex to me because all of these songs are being interpolated at once in a creative way, whereas "Hold Me Closer" just has a small sampling of the original lyrics without any of the emotion or lyrical description that made the original so good. That being said, I absolutely respect your opinion and it's neat to hear different perspectives :) |

The fact that Dua is the most respected of the pop girls at Pulse just adds insult to ingury. And since its pulse and Dua don't get your hopes up buddy. At least you have me to help tank it with you. But since it's Dua, expect us to be the only ones on team anti Cold Heart. |

I just sent (very early for my standards).
I got my first car in April and have been listening to the radio a lot ever since, and it feels like there are driving memories attached to a lot of these songs already. A great summer in terms of music, imo.
I'd rate my list something like this:
1-2: 10/10
3-5: 9/10
6-9: 8/10
10-13: 7/10
14-16: 6/10
17-20: 5/10
I definitely have a few questionable ranks as always, though, sorry :(

Thoughts on the new honorable mentions:
Cold Heart: Was never a fan of this. This just seems like a cheap tactic to make Elton John relevant again. It’s even more of a cashgrab when you realize this and Hold Me Closer are just recycling.
Shivers: I didn’t like this as much as Bad Habits, but it’s passable.

It feels as if there are wayyy more country songs making the year end list this year compared to normal. While I'm not huge on a lot of them, this is definitely one of the better ones.

i don’t mind a lot of the country hits we’ve had this year, but maybe they’re just benefitting from lowered expectations because 2021 was such a shitshow for the genre’s hits
