hoping As it Was gets a 15th week after next!! Any real threats? The only threats at this point are Strve Lacey and Taylor Swift. Also, here's to hoping aiw does NOT get a 15th week at #1. Taylor would have announced by now if she’s dropping this Friday

I’ll admit Break My Soul definitely isn’t some cultural phenomenon like her 2000s hits, and radio probably got behind it because her status + her finally doing a true crossover appeal track. Renaissance’s success shows though her base and people who like Beyonce will still support her regardless. It’s weird they haven’t pushed a 2nd single, and if anything, BMS’s radio reception would make them *more* likely to push a 2nd single right away. I think Act II is very coming soon. I think so too, and maybe they're planning on releasing even sooner than originally planned, possibly before Taylor releases. If not, there's no explanation why they wouldn't have pushed a second single, especially since Beyonce's team has never been stingy about pushing her songs to radio.

She revealed Folklore and Evermore both one day before. So a surprise release or a Thursday reveal isn't wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

hoping As it Was gets a 15th week after next!! Any real threats? I hope AIW stops at 15 weeks just so we can actually stop skipping the damn number every time these 10+ week #1s occur. Die For You #14 Spotify #16 Apple Music Radio, do your thing now! Support at least one Weeknd song this year. The push that the label gave that allowed it to actually chart on the Hot 100 was the best decision they have ever made. Imagine if the respectable labels did that for No Role Modelz or Sweater Weather that would be insane. Speaking of Abel, i think all push should go on Die For You right now while keeping Less Than Zero for early 2023. I heard the latter quite a lot on Tik Tok and is apparently a fan favorite on Dawn FM the same way SYT was on After Hours. So i didn’t think i would ever say this, but Dawn FM has one final chance to finally get a 2nd hit and save the era.

Very surprised Something In The Orange has stuck around the way it has. Very happy too, it’s like Top 3 of the year for me. It also makes me optimistic that the song can survive Lil Baby and Taylor even if it doesn’t have much country radio support.

See, I think she's gonna surprise drop the lead single, so I actually have to disagree. I would be happy to be wrong 😂. Has she ever surprise dropped anything though ? Two entire albums - but of course you mean day-of instant surprises. I’m not sure if those would work in her favour any better than a pre-announced project, but I totally expect a Thursday am/early pm announcement for a midnight release of the single - any week, whether this Thursday, next Thursday, etc. There’ll be advance notice but I wouldn’t say any more than 24 hours.

The chart is very weak right now so any big artist is almost guaranteed a no 1 entry

Has Bad Habit been discounted to 69 cents on iTunes? Steve Lacy's team has to do whatever possible to close the gap and overtake As It Was. It needs an increase in sales. Streaming is strong, radio is growing.

As It Was stopping at 15 weeks would be a good end point, not record breaking but songs never stop at 15 weeks, they either stop at 14 or go past. Let's get at least one #1 single with 15 weeks at the top.

I know I'm repeating myself but AIW not being the YE #1 will be absolutely insane It's the case of "longevity winning over #1 performance", with "Heat Waves" having 5 weeks at #1 but still in the Hot 100 rn over "As It Was" having 13+ weeks at #1 despite debuting last April Had "Heat Waves" been recurrent like 2-3 months ago, "As It Was" would be the YE #1 in the current predictions

Yes, it's really that long tail of avoiding recurrency that makes the difference here. When songs are not infrequently getting 52 weeks to rack up chart points in the top 25 it's hard for any song, no matter how big, that is released in the middle of the chart year to compete with that.

We're only halfway through September, it's not late 2022 yet. I implore you to think outside of chart stuff that the general public does not care about.

I'm saying in general it's a second half of the year song. When people think of aiw they're gonna think late 2022. ?? ?? You know that if the year-end was January-December, As It Was would be #1 right? We're only halfway through September, it's not late 2022 yet. I implore you to think outside of chart stuff that the general public does not care about. That's the thing, when I look at the biggest song I very rarely look at the charts since most people don't know/care about them. I think looking at streaming data would give you a good indication on what's is popular.

But from November through November, Heat Waves feels way bigger throughout that time period. A lot can happen in one and a half months so aiw will probably feel bigger from Jan to Dec but not from Nov to Nov if that makes sense. It's just frustrating to see people try to delegitimize hw as the biggest song of the year, when it clearly is.

So many people in older generations still listen to the radio. For example, Corvette Corvette was everywhere for me. But I know damn well that anybody over the age of 25 isn't gonna know it, so does that mean it's actually popular among all Americans? No. It just means that it was something us kids talked about for a few months. Whereas Heat Waves and As It Was have been everywhere in every demographic. My aunt knows those songs, my grandma knows those songs. That's why streaming doesn't tell the whole story imo.

I don't get your example, regardless of how you feel about Corvette Corvette, it was never a big streaming hit.

I legit didn't know what Corvette Corvette was and I thought it was some old song from the 70s.
