I would have ranked every Bitches Brew song at #1. If it was the title track, I would have ranked it 0.5, somehow. I don't care if it's 27 minutes long, it's one of the most incredible pieces of music ever laid down by anyone. "Voodoo" is...second or third, though whether I prefer it or "Spanish Keys" depends on the day, really.
"Cantaloupe Island" is really, really good, and that man deserved a win, so I'm fine with this result.

I've already been familiar with some of Herbie Hancock's songs, but I've spent little time with Miles Davis. But since I enjoyed "Miles Runs the Voodoo Down" to the extent I did, I will definitely spend more time listening to his albums. My interest in Jazz Funk and Jazz Fusion has been going up as I've been losing interest in Smooth Jazz styles.
Also, I meant to post this right after the "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes" reveal.

As I expected, my list did flop lol. But honestly I’m still really cool with these results! I feel like it’s hard to rank a genre as pretty as jazz, it’s such a comforting sound.
I feel similarly to you gates with regards to Skating. The Charlie Brown movies have been a staple for my family and I growing up so naturally Skating was going to be my #1 here.
Excited for the next part!

I’ve already made a list and will confirm it tonight. I’m spending a little more time with these songs than those from the first set.
Edit: this is how I'd rate the songs in Part 2:
#1-2: 4.5/5 #3-7: 4/5 #8-12: 3.5/5 #13-15: 3/5

6 days left to submit. I have...3 rankings. Pretty disappointing turnout so far! I really don't want to extend, but the pace between now and Friday needs to be at least 2 lists per day for me to be satisfied

5 days left to submit. I have 4 rankings now. So, that last pace number I mentioned? Up to 2.2 lists per day now.

I'm gonna try to submit for this. The first part slipped by me, but I don't think I'll have any problem submitting for this one.

2 days left to submit. I don't know where the heck everyone from Part 1 went in just a month, but I'm still stuck at 4 ballots. Unless the next 2 days hold a humongous burst of activity, an extension is looking likely, I'm afraid.

1 day left to submit. the number of ballots is now at 7. I know wrip and BB🌕 have made progress, and Red always manages to pull through on the last day lately...so that's 3 people I'm pretty sure I can count on. Will at least 2 others step up?

a little more than 10 hours left to submit. So far, 2 more people have sent: one of the posters I was expecting (wrip), and one I wasn't certain of (Razor). Thus, the goal is now 3 more lists--and again, I think I know where 2 of those are coming from. I still have a sliver of hope I can close this up tonight.

I’ve had this on my list but I haven’t had enough active listening time available to dig in. But I will try and get this done today.
Maybe if I sit on the toilet for 90 minutes...

I need to have reveal preparations set in stone in the next 3 hours, since my shift this morning is 8am to 4pm and it would be wise to get at least some sleep I'll accept any straggler lists until I've filled in the Year/Writer/Performer fields in my reveal templates. I will make another post when submissions are officially closed. I am not certain when that will happen, but let's just say you shouldn't expect any more than a half-hour of leeway from this point.

Call me a procrastinating bitch one more time… Oh don't worry, with how many rankdowns you always host at once, I fully understand how deadlines can creep up on you. Now, the people's sending habits who I do find inscrutable...well, one of them is after Wrip and the other is right before Red. They always come out of nowhere, I never know what they're planning

Man, between this and Bembeya Jazz National, North/Central Africa can't catch a break in these rankdowns. This song was even able to grab a handful of top 5s--more than some songs above it can say--and it still falls to last because of the high number of bottom 5s. 15

I don’t think I’ve ever heard an Ethiopian jazz song before, so that’s something new to me.

Chick Corea as a bandleader is definitely best known for his work with the group Return To Forever, but I'm honestly not a big fan of that era; I prefer his early post-bop stuff. Figured I'd address a popular standard at the same time. This is, sadly, the first song in any of my jazz rankdowns to receive no top 5s--which leads me to believe a different song from the album would have done better. It did at least get plenty of single-digit rankings, so it wasn't completely dismissed 14
