SUBURBIA vs. BEHIND THE WHEEL Which song will win the final Lost Hits rankdown of the 1980s? Will the Pet Shop Boys pick up their 3rd victory or will Depeche Mode avenge their runner-up performance from Late 80s III? Both songs spent time in first place with one or the other being in the lead for all but one movement. However, neither song had a particularly low standard deviation like you may typically expect for songs in this position: 20th highest vs. 11th lowest. These two songs had the most top 10 rankings of any in the rankdown with one having 11 and the other 10. Each also had a considerable number of top 5s with both having received 9 such rankings. One big difference though is that one of these songs had 3 bottom half rankings while the other only had 1. Only 4 posters did not have either of these songs in their top 10. On the other hand, 7 of us ranked both of these songs top 5. Quite a few #1s remain: singingrulebritannia , gonecountry , Butterflies & Hurricanes , wheatsquares33 , and Juanca along with myself. Who among us will get to see their favorite take the Lost Hits of the 1980s Extras Part 2 crown? Find out in a few minutes...

rowellfarm490, thanks for a great rankdown. Very deserving winner. PSB have a solid string of hits (and non-hits). I can't believe that It's a Sin (my favorite of all theirs) got blocked at #2, do you remember what blocked it? Looking forward to the next one...

That concludes the second Lost Hits of the 1980s Extras rankdown! Thanks again to all who participated, posted comments, followed along, etc. This also wraps up the decade as this is the final rankdown I have planned for the 1980s. With these rankdowns we've been able to cover many songs that wouldn't have gotten the chance otherwise. I can't believe that It's a Sin (my favorite of all theirs) got blocked at #2, do you remember what blocked it? "It's a Sin" got beat out by Midnight Oil's "Beds Are Burning".

Weird Science finishing at #3 is great. I really thought it would have had an earlier departure based on how my trend of lively music does on these rank downs. Thanks rowellfarm490 for making me discover most of these songs.

Erasure is probably the "classic synthpop" group I like the least at this point. They have a handful of really good songs but a lot of their catalog feels like kindergarten tunes. And I hate to say it, but the same people who love all their songs seem to be the most likely to downplay the truly innovative stuff from the era, in my experience. And I haven't found that to be the case for other fandoms. Guilty. I love all Erasure's songs. I even charted new songs from their latest album. I'll be the first to admit I'm not looking for anything 'Innovative". I like my music to be catchy, melodic, and sing along worthy, but you already knew that. However look at all those top 10's Erasure got. We can't all be wrong? ;)
