hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=333095&title=TOP-20%253A-BUNNY-BACK-ON-TOPTuesday, September 27, 2022 TOP 20: BUNNY BACK ON TOPThe staying power of Rimas’ Bad Bunny and Big Loud/Mercury’s Morgan Wallen persists as their albums hold down #1-2, respectively, this week. This will be Bad Bunny’s 12th nonconsecutive week at #1 and the 90th week on the chart for Wallen. BMG’s 5 Seconds of Summer scores the week’s only Top 10 debut.

Quite a dropoff from 5 Seconds of Summer's previous album. That one managed 133k in its second week. It debuted in the Billboard 200 one week earlier due to a shipment error.

Looks like they picked a good week to debut though. A #3 showing isn't all that bad... but a lack of a hit will make it increasingly difficult down the line.

Time for Morgan Wallen and that Weeknd playlist to go imo. Insert Bad Bunny and agreed. Also, Zach Bryan missed re-entering the Top 10 last week (#11 on BB and HITS), so I'm glad to see he's estimated to jump to #9 with a couple thousand sales as a buffer. Rooting for Kelsea Ballerini to at least match her last studio's effort which debuted at #12. I'm sure the sales are drastically lower this time around.

If The Highlights goes to #4, would that be the highest it's been since it debuted at #2 in February 2021?

It’s been a year for the ages and I’m not kidding…
Who would have thought that Harry Styles would be challenging for most weeks at #1, Bad Bunny now has the longest running #1 of the decade, and Morgan Wallen chases the history books? It’s all been mindblowing for this long time chart follower.
And remember, it was a real cold Q1. Things didn’t get interesting apart from Encanto early in the game. I honestly thought that would be the ‘album of the year’ but the Bunny has hopped to the top.

I've said this one too many times but for the charts overall this year it's been a real insane one: "Heat Waves" going #1 after over a year on the charts "We Don't Talk About Bruno," a freaking Disney track going #1 "Running Up That Hill" getting revived Yung Gravy rick-rolled his way into a Top 40 hit Elton John returning to the Top 10 Underground artists like Joji, Steve Lacy and Kim Petras all getting Top 10 hits Along with Encanto and Kate Bush, pop radio was spinning shit like "Jiggle Jiggle."

I'm wondering if Bad Bunny will get near 20 weeks when all it said and done.
Next 2 weeks don't seem to have an announced release that can overtake it, so 14 weeks easily.
Then there will potentially be weeks in December/January/February/March he can snatch, he will likely have more longevity than Lil Baby, Taylor Swift, and other big releases coming soon.

I believe Beyoncé vinyls are being shipped for the week of October 7. He may have some challenge there

Pretty cool 5SOS is still getting Top 5 debuts almost a decade into their career. Just wish they had sustained success past week 1, they've really improved since their teen pop days

Certified Lover Boy showing a lot more longevity than people on here were willing to admit it'd show when it first dropped. It's performed just as well as Scorpion did so far (if not better, and all without 3 massive #1 hit singles). Would you look at that?

It's performed just as well as Scorpion did so far (if not better, and all without 3 massive #1 hit singles). Has it though? The threshold for charting high is at a record low right now, with a massive number-one album dominating with less than 100k units weekly and 50k units securing #2. despite that, CLB is barely at where Scorpion was one year into its run, in terms of chart-placement -- hovering around #15. Scorpion has garnered 3.7 million units (SPS) and over 4.3 billion streams in its first 6 months. Certified Lover Boy has 2.8 million units (SPS) and 3.8 billion streams in its first 12 months. to be fair, I think Drake having released another full-length project has made a dent in CLB's performance, but that's more of a recent development. Certified Lover Boy did not match Scorpion's performance, no. its numbers after a full year still come quite a lot short of Scorpion's first six months. but since the industry consumption at the top of the charts has been lower than usual, it has been able to coast along on the charts--which I guess is still better than what people expected. Do you/Does anyone have the chart runs of the two albums? It would be interesting to look at and directly compare their trajectories. Maybe they're performing more similar than I thought when you consider that side by side.

Do you/Does anyone have the chart runs of the two albums? It would be interesting to look at and directly compare their trajectories. Maybe they're performing more similar than I thought when you consider that side by side. I wasn't speaking based on units moved or streams on Spotify - of course Scorpion performed better in those regards. I'm speaking based on chart positions and the fact that it's still averaging over 20k units/week a year after its release. I know some people on here with their ridiculous expectations somehow expected CLB to replicate the success of Scorpion across the board, but considering the fact that CLB dropped with no singles, added to the fact that Drake did next to nothing to promote the album, especially compared to how he promoted Scorpion, it's performed as well as could be expected. The last single off CLB was sent to radio the same month the album dropped (13 months ago), meanwhile, Drake was promoting Scorpion/singles off the album from January 2018 till August/September 2018. Regardless, CLB will surpass 3 million units before the end of the year. Are there up to 10 albums released so far this decade that have done that? I'm only mentioning this because people on here were acting CLB was some massive flop/underperformance and I'll never understand that. As for CLB's Billboard 200 chart run so far compared to Scorpion's: Certified Lover Boy | Billboard 200 Chart Run (55 weeks, 34 weeks in the top 10) 1-1-1-2-2-1-2-1-2-3-5-3-4-7-9-18-11-6-8-8-7-7-7-4-7-6-8-9-8-7-8-6-6-7-9-10-11-11-11-13-15-14-21-18-17-20-18-20-15-18-19-20-17-17-16Scorpion | Billboard 200 Chart Run (55 weeks, 33 weeks in the top 10) 1-1-1-1-1-2-3-4-3-3-5-4-4-5-8-6-7-7-5-9-8-8-11-10-9-14-6-8-8-11-11-8-8-11-14-12-9-7-12-10-10-11-11-14-11-11-12-13-14-19-11-12-15-16-15

Certified Lover Boy | Billboard 200 Chart Run (55 weeks, 34 weeks in the top 10) 1-1-1-2-2-1-2-1-2-3-5-3-4-7-9-18-11-6-8-8-7-7-7-4-7-6-8-9-8-7-8-6-6-7-9-10-11-11-11-13-15-14-21-18-17-20-18-20-15-18-19-20-17-17-16Scorpion | Billboard 200 Chart Run (55 weeks, 33 weeks in the top 10) 1-1-1-1-1-2-3-4-3-3-5-4-4-5-8-6-7-7-5-9-8-8-11-10-9-14-6-8-8-11-11-8-8-11-14-12-9-7-12-10-10-11-11-14-11-11-12-13-14-19-11-12-15-16-15 if we're being picky, Scorpion fell below No. 15 for just 2 weeks out of its first 55 weeks, whereas CLB spent 13 weeks in the 16-21 range already. it's not a massive flop by any means (lol), but it confirms a slight downward trajectory, which Honestly Nevermind's mere existence probably contributed to. thanks for the stats! things definitely look good for Certified Lover Boy and its performance so far has certainly not been too far off of Scorpion's.
