Ready for round 2? The follow-up to "Ramon Ayala", a Mediabase #1 hit for both Active and Alternative, has been serviced to both formats' Cool New Music.

They performed this on tour and it went over well with the crowd so totally get why they kinda continued in this vein for a follow up. Idk how people are going to take this here (probably hate it) but it again gives me those early 2000s rock vibe and there’s a market for that. I think this will do bette Ron alternative than active but think this could get them another hit. Not as immediate for me as Ramon Ayala but it feels like a. Grower.

I kinda liked "Ramon Ayala", but Giovannie's vocals are more grating on this one. Pass for now.

This guy's vocals are like a parody of bad early 2000's rock vocals

This guy's vocals are like a parody of bad early 2000's rock vocals Funny enough, I kinda agree with you on this and kinda felt it was a little forced when I saw them live. Seeing acoustic performances of this without the 2000’s Rock production and instruments, it was even more noticeable even with his facial expressions (in that it looks like he’s focusing on staying in that kind of voice rather than it just being his normal voice and just singing). I definitely get his brand and lane tho (in regards to his more rock output and heavily using the unique Latinx angle even with the branding and lyrics) but the vocals are limited. They’ve worked super hard to get where they are tho and they put on a good show. This will have to grow on me more tho

The songs is already growing on me after realizing the tuba (Should’ve realized it considering they had the tuba player on stage for this song live) and that kinda makes it stand out a bit more to me. It’s gotten on a solid amount of alt and rock playlists (at great rankings too) so I’m already seeing the difference from them being indie to them now being major. Very smart if Warner Nashville to capitalize on their recent number one and being right on it with them putting out new music to radio while the iron is hot. Now to see the kind of pull they have on alt and rock radio has yet to be seen but I’m optimistic seeing they did what they did without a label.

Damn these guys are on on all the mid sized rock and alt Spotify playlists and got 3 active early adds and 7 alt early adds this week indicating Warner is pushing them hard to both formats. I could see double digit adds next week on their official add date on both formats and this debuting in the top 50 on both formats next week (or the week after). Because they were able to get to #1 without heavy support from the top 10 markets indie (meaning they connected with smaller/grassroots markets), this warner deal is going to compliment them perfectly as they have MUCH more resources to secure the support from those big/commercial markets now that they’re major. They have the huge potential of opening up for country, alternative and rock artists and playing on all those genre related showcases and festivals building their nationwide fanbase before returning to headlining shows. I think they’re going to focus on alt and rock though and solidify that foundation before expanding.
Edit: they also got selected as amazon music’s current breakthrough rock act and opening up for Jelly Roll and Brantley Gilbert for arena dates (hertz and savanna?) in November.

This has 14 total alt adds and 10 total active adds on its adds week and debuted in the top 50 on active so it’s definitely a solid start. It’s getting around 10-14k daily Spotify streams which is very solid As well and has a lot of room to grow.

Album comes out on Friday and while this is just getting started on radio, Ramon Ayala is still in the top 10 of overall rock/alt airplay (and what’s funny is that it went to #1 without heavy major market support and now that they’re signed to a major label, the major markets are giving it strong support while it’s in recurrent land.) Interested to see how much they incorporate their country influence in this album and if they do, see if it could be marketable to country.
Edit: it went recurrent today on the chart but that was a LONG run and glad it latest until album week.

The music video is out. It's another hot girl fantasy video. (sigh) Yea somewhat disappointed in the video as it was so much like Ramon Ayala that it showed the kind of angle and demographic they and the label are branding them- the kinda artist/song that would fit in the early 2000’s American Pie movies, Eurotrip, Van Wilder type crowd, if you feel me. Very butt rock, early 2000’s, big boobs (folks were OBSESSED with Pamela Anderson) and sex appeal. They definitely have their lane but this video didn’t fully click with me like their last.

This one is going at a solid pace on both alt and active formats (around the top 30) and is doing solid in streams as well which bodes wells for newer artists like them who slowly rise up the charts. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is another top 10/5 in both formats and with Ramon Ayala’s recurrent play as well. If this does hit on the format, I could see them switching focus more to country radio for the rest of this album era with their next single.

this isn't a masterpiece or anything but it's better then i expected for their followup. total earworm of a chorus with some alt rock influences that make it stick out a lot less on the format then ramon ayula did. also as has already been mentioned, i loooove the tuba in this, which is a genuinely unique songwriting choice, something i never thought i'd say about these guys
that said, the music video for this is indeed quite bad and serves as a reminder that even if this is an above average butt rock song, it's still a butt rock song

Yea they definitely butt rock but they seem to have really connected with alt and active. This one is going up at a slow but nice pace while Ramon Ayala is STILL charting at #8 alt and #2 active radio in recurrent-land which is very impressive. While this one isn’t super familiar with audiences yet, Ramon Ayala is getting solid play still. Ideally, as this gains, they start moving Ramon Ayala’s spins to this.

This hasn’t been picking up many adds the past couple of weeks but It’s been slowly gaining. Seeing Ramon Ayala still getting over 400 spins on both formats (and strong primetime airplay), it’s only a matter of time before they start switching the support from Ramon Ayala to this and I’m thinking that’ll happen sometime in Spring with the possibility of this to really hits its stride in the summer, which it will fit in very well on summer radio playlists. The slow radio rise allows this to slowly rack up streams and familiarity along with their constant touring.
Plus if it does make it to the top or top 5 on both formats after this slow climb (ala Ramon Ayala), it bodes well for its longevity and strong reccurrent play.

These guys somehow have managed to make butt rock work on Alternative and you know what, more power to them. The powerpop influence on “Ramon Ayala” helped that one a good deal and “Overrated” has a tuba in it. Can’t say using a tuba doesn’t make a song different (and thus, “alternative”) from its contemporaries.
I wonder how many butt rock bands wanting more fame and attention are kicking themselves for not featuring a tuba or cribbing from the Wheatus/Weezer playbook before these guys did it.

I think their Texas roots, Latin and Country influences help them stand out. They rep their culture hard and I love that. They’re very right now in terms of what’s catching on Alt & Active. Seeing who they touring with and the festivals they’re playing, they moving up them lineups slots and rotating between country and rock dates.
