I know it doesn’t happen too often, but are there any songs from an artist’s past album that you either really wish would somehow get re-recorded and released as a single or that you think would do really well on radio today? e.g. You Look Good In My Shirt and Waitin’ On A Woman. For me, I think Someday When I Stop Loving You by Carrie Underwood 100% deserved and still deserves to be a single! But I know it’ll never happen…still can’t help but dream though lol

“Found You” by Kane Brown. Always seemed like a missed opportunity. Perfect uptempo song for radio that was connecting really well.

I felt like "Crazy One More Time" by Kip Moore fit this perfectly...and then he re-recorded it and kinda ruined it sadly. The original was so much better. I do think he has some from each of his albums easily still:
from Up All Night: "Drive Me Crazy" "Everything but You"
from Wild Ones: "Girl Of The Summer"
from Slowheart: "Bittersweet Company"
from Wild World: "Fire and Flame" "Don't Go Changing"
then Martina McBride has so many that has been discussed multiple times over multiple threads:
from The Time Has Come: "When You Are Old"
from The Way That I Am: "Strangers" "That Wasn't Me" "She Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"
from Wild Angels: "A Great Disguise"
from Evolution: "Be That Way: "I Don't Want To See You Again"
from Emotion: "From The Ashes" "Make Me Believe" "This Uncivil War"
from Martina: "City of Love" "Learning To Fall"
from Waking Up Laughing: "Everybody Does" "House Of A Thousand Dreams" "Tryin' To Find A Reason"
from Shine: "Walk Away" "Lies" "Wild Rebel Rose" "You're Not Leaving Me" "What Do I Have To Do"
from Eleven: "Whatcha Gonna Do" "One Night" "You Can Get Your Lovin' Right Here"
from Reckless: "That's The Thing About Love"
I could do the same for Patty Loveless, Jo Dee Messina, and Lee Ann Womack but will stop there for now

My sister used to play the Burn album all the time. Which songs did you like the best from that CD?

First songs that come to mind from my favorite artists are "All My Favorite People" by Maren Morris ft. Brothers Osborne, "Waste Of Lime" by Ingrid Andress, and "Hungover On Heartache" by Cam.

I think they picked all the correct singles from Hero if there were only going to be four, but I really wanted "Sugar" as a single.

Which songs did you like the best from that CD? I love the Burn album, it is so good. I do think the singles were mostly the right choice but I do think "If Not You", "Closer" and "These Are The Days" would have made good single choices. Below are the songs I think from each album should have been singles:
from Jo Dee Messina: "Let It Go" "On A Wing and A Prayer"
from I'm Alright: "Even God Must Get The Blues" "No Time For Tears"
from Delicious Surprise: "You Were Just Here" ""It Gets Better"
from the Unmistakable Trilogy: "Think About Us" "Just Drive" "How Do You Get High"
from Me: "Love On A Maybe" "Breaking It Down"
Wish she was still releasing new albums. I also wish some of her unreleased stuff from Curb would get released, like her version of "Better Dig Two" that she recorded before The Band Perry, as well as "Get Off That Train" and "Destroy The Evidence".

Shania Twain — “Nah!” from the Up! album. Maren Morris — “All My Favorite People,” “A Song For Everything,” and “Flavor” from the GIRL album. Carrie Underwood — “Mexico” from the Storyteller album.

I've always said that Randy Travis could have had five chart toppers off Always & Forever if he released his version of What'll You Do About Me.

"Memory Won't Let Me" by Brett Young!! Such a perfect song, and I remember there were rumors about it being the last single, but was passed on behalf of Mercy :(

then Martina McBride has so many that has been discussed multiple times over multiple threads: from Wild Angels: "A Great Disguise" I could do the same for Patty Loveless, Jo Dee Messina, and Lee Ann Womack but will stop there for now Personally, I think her cover of "Two More Bottles Of Wine" could've been a hit too. Yes, it was an older song originally but her version had such an energy to it.

Carrie:
The Night Before (Life Goes On)
You Won’t Find This
Someday When I Stop Loving You What Can I Say
Do You Think About Me Wine After Whiskey
Choctaw County Affair
Backsliding End Up With You
I feel like releasing many of these (in addition or in place of another single each era) would have rounded out her singles catalogue nicely with more traditional songs that still would have likely reached the top at country radio.

Sara Evans' "Need To Be Next To You" Faith Hill's "Fireflies" Shania Twain's "Nah!" At one point “Nah!” Was supposed to be the lead single to the album! Practically all of Restless could’ve been a single but NTBNTY and Rockin’ Horse sound like smashes to me the most. I will always wonder how “Fireflies” would’ve done if sent to radio instead of “Stealing Kisses”. Both are amazing and I think SK is technically a better song (lyrical, vocal and production). But Firefliesjust has a great mood about it, I think it might’ve done better.

I wish it had been given a chance. Both “Stealing Kisses” and “Fireflies” are fantastic and among my favourite Faith songs. SK flopping is one of country radio’s biggest mistakes imo.

The song that really got away on Fireflies was "I Ain't Gonna Take It Anymore" I don't think she's ever had another mid-tempo neo-trad country jam that could rival that one! But tbh this is one of those albums where almost everything is legit amazing, so there were no shortage of options...

I second the Fireflies should've been a single stance. Probably would've been another easy top 5/10 from that album. I do think Stealing Kisses is a stronger and better song though, just maybe not the best single choice. There's no reason for country radio to do it how they did it though.

Like We Never Loved At All 3. Fireflies 4. I Ain't Gonna Take It Anymore 5. Dearly Beloved I don't dislike "The Lucky One" or "Sunshine And Summertime" at all but they're nearer to the bottom of the album for me. "If You Ask" was also single worthy imo.

I don't dislike "The Lucky One" or "Sunshine And Summertime" at all but they're nearer to the bottom of the album for me. "If You Ask" was also single worthy imo. I really like both TLO and SAS, but I feel like they are so similar that having both of them as singles kinda took away a lot of the memorability of this era. That plus the fact that her duets with Tim always took on a life where they felt "bigger" than their parent album (like the casual country radio listener could probably tell you all of Tim/Faith's major duets, but could never tell you that LWNLAA and "Let's Make Love" were specifically on Faith's albums and "It's Your Love" and "I Need You" were specifically on Tim's albums. They were all so big and had relatively long-lasting airplay and have since been put on so many different Greatest Hits albums, they kinda feel like their own separate thing to me.) That being said, between all that and the complete floppage of "Stealing Kisses", I always completely forget that this era went five deep! Even though most of them were huge hits, the only one I ever really think about when I look back on this era is "Mississippi Girl"... They could have definitely mixed it up a bit and made this era more memorable on radio.

Curb didn’t do a good job of promoting Jo Dee Messina . She could’ve had more albums out than she did. Unmistakable should’ve been released to radio.

"Nah!" was such a missed smash. I wanted it to be the second single. Then the fourth single. Then the fifth single. Then the (never happened) sixth single (for country). I think they got the right lead and third single but to be honest the other 3 are bottom tier on that album. I know there were several other singles in other countries/markets and yet "Nah!" still wasnt one of them. I just know we missed out on an iconic video.
