OMG??? I was so convinced Alvvays was winning ahaha (which would’ve been a great winner too and I would’ve been so happy for Leo ✔ ❤️) but wow I’m shocked!! Also definitely thought Virgo’s Groove would’ve been stolen from me. Virgo’s Groove is honestly SOTY material for me lol, I’ve been obsessed with it since first listen of the album. Everything about it slaps- the production, the vibes, Beyoncé’s vocals (which are probably the best I’ve heard from her especially in the last minute of the song). I’m so so so happy this won and happy to have won my first madness 🥳🥳 Thank you to singingrulebritannia for hosting, you did such a killer job with this. Also I think going forward we should avoid revealing the top 15, it made it so much more exciting to watch in the finals!!

wrip thought Hatchie's Lights On was "kind of a boring winner", so he submitted an even bigger banger to win Madness. I haven't spent much time with Beyoncé's music, but her songs in this Madness tournament won me over easily, especially VIRGO'S GROOVE.
Overall these finals results were pretty interesting and didn't feel like a redundant extra round to reveal the same songs twice. But next time, I hope one of my song submissions makes it to the finals.

I could spend hours talking about every little thing that makes "God Turn Me Into a Flower" so special, but none of us have the time for that. So, instead, I'll just say this: Not only is "Flower" my favorite song of 2022, I think it's becoming (maybe even is already) one of my all-time favorite songs. It is rare for that to happen so quickly with me, but it just feels right here. I can't think of another song that has brought tears to my eyes every single time I've listened to it like this has.
The biggest problem "Easy On Your Own?" faces is that, quite simply, it's not "After the Earthquake" or "Belinda Says". It's a very good song, and it would be among their best if it wasn't overshadowed by even better songs. ("Belinda" may be only nine spots higher in my ranking, but I do think there's a bit of a gap in quality between the two.)
"Strangers" is the best posse cut since "Really Doe".
As good as "Nosedive" is...not gonna lie, I don't think it's one of my personal favorites of Hatchie's.
A 60 for "Bad Habit", damn lol
Not Kyle losing all three of his songs back to back to back. "Silence is Golden" and "Knees Deep" are great, but there's just something about "Expert in a Dying Field" that draws me in every single time in a way those songs don't.
I probably need to listen to the Danger Mouse/Black Thought album in full.
I thought Paramore was winning, tbh, though I also thought the top two would be "This Is Why" and "VIRGO".
"After the Earthquake" is the best song I've heard from Alvvays. I won't say "it's not close", because they've made a handful of great songs, but it just feels like their definitive peak.
Good on wrip for winning, at least. I don't think "VIRGO" is "better than 'After the Earthquake' or 'Aquamarine'" levels of greatness, personally, but I will say it's one of her best and was a worthy seed 1 winner.
gates, as always, great job hosting, especially taking care of this behemoth.

Definitely was not expecting to have my song win the seed and make top 3 in the finals! This was the first time either of those things has happened for one of my songs, and I'm super excited "This Is Why" was able to make it so far! Thanks so much for hosting, singingrulebritannia!

Oh shoot my #1 song actually won. Hooray for long song appreciation! Beyoncé kills every single aspect of that runtime, what an instant classic. Thanks to everyone who submitted the great discoveries I've made this season, and an even bigger thanks to Gates for hosting the first madness where I had a song make finals! Might be the most fun I've ever had in one of these.
