There was a way too early thread made this year when "Levitating" was still in the Top 20, but now we are well past that point and far enough into it's single run 2 years ago that it's safe enough for it to be nostalgia. Anyways, this was the third US single from Dua Lipa's 2020 album "Future Nostalgia." A remix with rapper DaBaby was released in September 2020 and that version of the song ended up becoming a huge hit, reaching No. 5 in early 2021 on the Hot 100, but this song has a bigger story since by March 2021 it sorta peaked everywhere until TikTok resurrected the track and it went on to reach all new heights; peaking at No. 2 on the Hot 100 during a controversial week, and No. 1 on US radio. It also was one of two massive resurgences on pop radio in 2021 along with Glass Animal's "Heat Waves."
DaBaby was swiftly removed from the song in summer 2021 after his controversial comments against gay people, but that didn't stop the track. It spent 41 weeks in the Hot 100's Top 10 (the most for a woman and third overall), over 70 weeks on the Hot 100 and ended up as the biggest hit of 2021 in the United States. It's by far Dua's biggest hit here. Just an all around banger that deserves all the success it got, what a fucking song.

First, DaBaby f****d himself on getting a YE #1 recognition. Second, that 05/22/21 chart week is still insane (especially for those that wanted "Levitating" to hit #1 so bad). And lastly, it instead led to the song being the 4th YE #1 to not peak at #1.
I love this song, even with the DaBaby remix. Future Nostalgia is just full of banger singles (and to think the album was released during the start of pandemic) Don't Start Now is still superior though (which makes me think I won't mind if the two songs swapped chart runs/single releases, which would mean "Don't Start Now" got the YE #1 while "Levitating" didn't)

This is great! One of my favorites from her, but I'd say I like "Don't Start Now" and "Break My Heart" a bit better.

Dua's best song ever. I love it, one of the greatest, most PERFECT songs of the decade. Pure ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
(Talking about the solo version, btw. I have no time for the remix.)

I adored it when the album dropped and was happy to see it have such a monster run. Not sure if I prefer it over DSN but it's close as fuck. Love her and that project.

I used to prefer the remix, now I prefer the solo version. Also the animated music video lives in my mind rent free.

Duaโs second best song (Physical is #1) and one of the best hit songs of both 2020 and 2021. I remember being shocked at the crazy resurgence in summer 2021 and hitting a new peak. This really deserved #1 on the Hot 100 and Iโm still sour about that controversial week. At least this ended up being #1 on the year end Hot 100 and had crazy longevity on the charts.
This is going to be seen as a 20โs classic in the future.

I first got into the Madonna remix back in September 2020, I enjoyed the song enough for it to be in my top 10! I still prefer that version sometimes for its vibes. By the time this song started rising in early 2021 I was against it, first off the DaBaby version didn't click with me, and second I was already worn out of the song myself. spoiler alert it didn't go away lol. I ended up embracing this "main" version & while I don't think it's worth being a YE #1, it's pretty good. Any song with 2 bridges is a W. I think this also popularized the double clap in songs recently which is pretty cool
