What do you predict will happen in 2023 in regards to music, music charts, artist comebacks, new albums, flops, DJ Earworm mashups, sudden viral moments, random-ass old songs becoming legit hits, artists jumping ship to sell avon products or perfume, etc,
Make your BOLD predictions here!

Hereβs some chart related predictions: - The YE #1 will actually feel like a 2023 hit (instead of being a previous year leftover like Heat Waves) - Anti-Hero will make the YE top 10 at like #5 (I feel like itβll be similar to Easy On Me; big in the beginning of the year but quickly drop off after a bit) - Cuff It wonβt hit #1 but itβll end up higher on the YE than BMS. - Weβll continue to see a dominance of artists who were popular in the 00s/early 10s (like how we are already seeing big hits with Taylor, Drake, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Meghan Trainor, BeyoncΓ©, David Guetta, Sia, and more) - SZA will have a big hit from her new album - idk who but Iβll just guess that a Pulse favorite (that isnβt one that usually charts) will gain a hit!! - I could see Tik Tok having a tiny bit less influence on the charts this year maybe
maybe iβll add more if i think of any lol
also sorry some of these arenβt really that bold but i wanted to share anyways haha

Well, since you said bold lol, I think "Sweater Weather" will make a "Heat Waves"-like resurgence on pop radio.

I think either Anti-Hero or Olivia Rodrigo will top the YE this year.

-Meme/sh*tpost/ironic music on the rise -Trap rap loses its last grips of relevancy in favor of the new dreamy pop era we're in -Continued return of real instruments, or at least organic sounding production, mixed with synths

in order from least to most bold
trap will continue its seize in being the dominant genre but it'll take several more years to have an immediate successor the rollout of the renaissance visuals will be anticlimactic and / or burgled in some way, with a 50 / 50 shot of them even coming out in the first place (hoping to be wrong here tho) lil nas x will get a #1 nicki will get a #1 rihanna will get multiple #1s sam smith will have at least two more decent sized hits off their album a song named after a pop star (ala dua lipa by jack harlow or billie eilish by armani white) will go top 20 a pop punk (emphasis on the pop part ofc) styled song will make the top 25 of the YE chart -- however, the revival will be on its way out by the end of the year sza will have a top 5, mayyybe even top 3 hit but get blocked from #1 by taylor and / or christmas songs phoebe bridgers will at least debut on the hot 100 with her next lead single panic! at the disco will never chart again fall out boy score a comeback hit a tik tok star will have (at minimum) a top 20 hit with moderate staying power speaking of which, pinkpanthress will have a top 40 hit zach bryan will have at least two more top 40 hits maneskin will at least bubble under (probs with their current single) thought you should know will chart for over 52 weeks christmas songs get banned from the chart (god i hope so) jeremiah will score another top 20 multiple country songs will go #1

Anti Hero and Unholy are gonna be year end top 10. Taylor is gonna have at least 2 more #1s this year. Olivia is gonna be huge this year. (This is a given ik, but still.) She'll probably have multiple year end top 10's like she did in 2021. Ariana will be huge this year. Maroon 5 will release the lead single for their 8th album and it will be a hit. Bieber will be big this year too. Gayle will have a big collab with someone. Probably either Olivia or Taylor. It'll be a huge hit. Lil Nas X will have a big year. Latto, Dove Caneron, Cody Jonhson and Joji will be one hit wonders. Em Beihold will have another TikTok hit. Bold ik, but her music is that type that can do well on TikTok Riri is obviously gonna be huge. Will probably have a year end top 10.

A bold, hot, baseless take: My Chemical Romance drops their fifth record in 2023 and the TikTok kids absolutely blow it the fuck up. It's currently known that MCR are recording many of their shows, and a new comprehensive documentary of the band is rumoured to be in the works; if they drop it alongside a new record, the kids WILL light up for them and they'll have a big moment.

Let me make a somewhat more bold prediction, I think that Magdalena Bay could have a song blow up on Tik Tok this year! Realistically I don't think it would be a Hot 100 charter, but it could be like Tek It where it is on the bubbling under chart and maybe does well on a different chart

Another bold, spicy prediction: Christina Aguilera will claw back to relevance on the back of a popular Latin artist. She seems to be going in this direction already.

Rihanna won't release any new music in 2023. She'll do the SuperBowl, break whatever records are associated with that, then f**k off back to selling Avon and making bank.
If the above prediction is wrong and she does actually release an album, I think it won't meet the high expectations people have. She'd get a #1 with the first single, but it won't have longevity, and the album will sell well in the first week but it won't have the impact that one would expect from a Rihanna single. All the hype and wishing she'd come back is based in nostalgia and artists never have huge eras of current hits on the back of nostalgia. Of course, if Rihanna can reinvent herself and establish a whole new set of memes, viral moments and innovative music, sure, it could happen, but I get the impression she doesn't have the interest to devote herself to that sort of work with music.
Other predictions: -Lil Nas X will release a spring single followed by a late-spring/early-summer album. The single will be very poppy and radio friendly. The album won't be as interesting or unique as Montero, sadly. It'll do well at first but fade before the end of the year. He'll continue as an A-list celebrity though.
-Radio (and the charts in general) will welcome a couple more random old songs. Nothing as old as RUTH, but my crystal ball sees one song from the 90s coming back - either becoming a hit for the first time or surpassing its original minor chart performance.
-Adele wins a couple Grammys but nothing in the main categories. Other than that, she won't have much of a presence in 2023.
-The Midnights era doesn't last too long into 2023. Taylor will announce her next Taylor's Version before her tour begins and a second Taylor's Version will come later in the fall, after the American leg wraps up.
-A song will top the Hot 100 long enough to challenge the "Old Town Road" record, but it won't break it. It will reach 18 or 19 weeks before falling. It'll be something random by an artist we know but not expect such a reign to come from, like a Charlie Puth or someone like that.
-Ed Sheeran drops an album and it more or less flops, save for one decent hit. But he is involved with another major hit, either as a co-writer or guest artist, later in the summer.
-Doja Cat will dominate the summer with a major hit, featuring someone. I can't see who it is. Bruno? Ariana? Not sure. She then releases a new album in the fall.
-A major artist from yesteryear makes some sort of comeback a la Elton John and gets a hit (not as big as "Cold Heart") by collaborating with a present-day artist. Their involvement in the song itself will be minimal as it will be a remix of some sort, but it will make their back catalogue popular again. Someone like Hall & Oats.
-Dua Lipa drops a one-off single that does about what Lizzo's "Rumors" did and people on Pulse begin to panic that she's over and in her flop era. But like Lizzo, she'll drop her album (in early Fall) and the first single does really well. Her era will end up being bigger than Lizzo's but not as big as Future Nostalgia obviously.
-Drake releases 2 albums in 2023. Both hit #1. Both have album bombs. Both occupy at least 8/10 of the Hot 100 Top 10. Rinse and repeat. One of the songs on either album samples the Golden Girls theme song for some reason and will sound terrible.

Your basically saying that artists that have been successful the last couple of years will have a successful 2023.How about naming artists that aren't so obvious?

It's almost as if he was using knowledge of past history to make his predictions. Almost like that's what a prediction is. Almost. For example, I predict in 2023 leonagwen will derail multiple threads across the board with nonsense arguments.

Hoping and praying this one actually comes to fruition but RAYE's "Escapism" will be a top 15 hit in the US. She deserves it so much.

Until I Found You will see a radio resurgence and finish YE top 20 at the very least. I'm intrigued by this prediction. My local CHR was one of the first to re-add "Levitating" and "Heat Waves" to power rotation (and they've had "Sweater Weather" in power for two months now), and they just re-added this to power this week after it went recurrent. A quick look at Mediabase shows a few other stations doing that as well. Not that I think that means anything quite yet, but it's something that will be interesting to watch.

I considered making a prediction about Escapism doing well in the US but I get the feeling it will do much better internationally than it will here, as you'd expect. For now I'm just hoping it stays stable throughout December and then gets another boost after the holidays are done.

Every time someone predicts a good 2023 for Lil Nas X, an angel gets their wings. Lil Nas X will continue his trend of one-upping himself with his next album in 2023. It will be the greatest album of the decade so far - experimental & game changing, but poppy enough to appeal to the masses and chart multiple top 10 hits Let me brag for a second, back in 2019 I was outside freely I told ATRL that LNX would become a legend, I got laughed at
