Artist: Chayce Beckham Single: 23 Album: Bad For Me Label: Wheelhouse Records Impact Date: January 23rd, 2023 (AllAccess) Writers: Chayce Beckham
Coincidence that there are two 23s in the impact date?

Interesting move to release this old song. Considering that it gained some interest when it was released, maybe this could do something beyond what the debut single did. It's an interesting song lyrically, but not keen on the melody myself.

I like this! It's catchy, yet ominous. His voice is much more interesting on this one, too.

I really like this song, but going back to it nearly two years after it was released is a strange choice.

I actually think this is a GREAT move considering he’s been selected as one of Music Rows Next Big Artists for next year. The streams has stayed strong since its release as well as the Steel Mix. He’s been touring heavily, his other tracks actually have steady streams (with decent playlisting). I don’t wanna predict its radio success cause you never know but I think this is was a great choice as I feel he has much more familiarity in the actual country format than he did when he initially released this despite winning idol. He’s been paying his dues.

The label had tried to release it last year, but was told by PD's it was not a fit for Country radio.
He did have the duet that was released which got a bunch of radio adds, but it tanked in making any traction.
His EP earlier this year came and went. Neither his coronation song or his duet was on it and the song he performed on Idol wasn't the single he had announced.
Unfortunately, he said his touring ended up losing money.
There could be a parting of the ways with the label on the horizon. It happens.

Reissued as a single impact date the 23rd. Still think it’s a GREAT decision and think this might breakthrough for him. He’s definitely talented and has been pounding the pavement since idol paying his dues. This remained strong in streams and to see the steel mix doing solidly as well, I think Chayce might have a shot with this.
Plus the upcoming idol season bodes is great timing for him getting some type of promotion through the platform. He’s also been slowly building in his Spotify monthly listeners and I noticed some of the other songs from his EP actually have decent numbers and steady daily gains without much promotion besides touring.

Solid adds day for this. The streaming numbers holding strong for this since it’s release has really given him and this song another good look. He interviews pretty well actually and hadn’t noticed that, shown by his recent appearance on the Bobby Bones show. His PR team has been pretty on top with getting him on online publications and social media attention plus just played Crash My Playa. Things are paying off and lining up nicely for his career right now. Hope the momentum continues.

So I saw the 34 adds on HDD earlier, but Aircheck is saying 27 today/31 historic. Which is right?

With both versions combined, this is getting over 200k daily Spotify streams. It got 5 adds today on its second week so I think it’ll be a solid length climb but everything really seems to be clicking for him right now in general. Played over 100 shows last year including a Canadian tour, just played Crash My Playa, announced a couple festivals already, announced a joint tour with Matt Stell and today Luke Bryan announced a tour that Chayce is opening on select dates so he’s going to be busy. Very interested in how this year goes for him.

Songs can get a lot of adds, but still don't do much on radio, which is what happened with his duet, which fans expected to be a big hit. A single has to keep getting a significant amount of adds after 2-3 months which usually is a sign not only that the label is pushing it, but that it is achieving certain chart positions. He may have played a lot of shows, but he said he lost a lot of money because of bad decisions.

Eh, I’ve seen artists get less first week adds and even lower second week adds that have become hits so I’m not worried about that yet. That article about him loosing money from bad decisions was well over a year ago so I’m sure he’s been making much better decisions. Not even really predicting this to be a hit rather that this is his best shot at a hit rn.

So it wasn't well over a year ago.

This is mad random but as I’m listening to this song and looking at its VERY strong/steady streams and Shazam’s, IF this song could fully connect on country radio, I actually could see this getting crossover airplay. This hasn’t even gotten significant editorial playlisting yet either.
This gives me the same kind of energy of the relatable country songs that I’ve observed have crossed over in either a mainstream commercial way (Eg. Zach Bryan- SITO) and/or gotten significant crossover support on mainstream formats like pop or hot ac (Morgan Wallen- WOY/LN, Kane Brown- TY) over the last year or so. If the country radio play results in additional significant sales/streams for this, it might be one of those that the commercial performance attracts mainstream formats.
Idk just my rant lmao

My bad for the double post. this debuted in the mediabase top 50 this week (haven’t been counting the weeks lol). Honestly, I’m kinda shocked with how strong this ones streams are still, without the Hot Country playlisting. The timing for this on radio hit really well with Zach Bryan popping off rn. It already has the Shazam’s numbers of recent #1 country hits so I’m really interested in seeing what happens w this.

I’ve kinda kept this one in the back of my mind and I gotta say, if this one continues to pick up adds and slowly make its way to the top 10+, this has potential to be a BIG single for him especially with this sound not sounding out of place of radio right now. Wouldn’t even be surprised for a AAA type push with its strong sales. His labels also been strategic with slowly releasing songs and allowing several of the to slowly amass solid streaming foundations aside this for a follow up. Very smart moves and timing has really played in his favor and it may pay off.

I hear this on the radio A LOT down here and 1) I actually love this? and 2) it sounds super out of place on the radio, but maybe that’s OK because it’s kinda got a Zach Bryan thing going for it (but it’s better than his stuff, to me at least).

This has really gained on Shazam and iTunes as it broke the top 100 overall on both. Really rooting for this being at least a top 10 hit on US and the Canada charts.

Happy this is taking off. He's got a super unique voice and is a good balance between the singer-songwriter alt country movement and mainstream. Excited to see how far this goes, and what the label does afterwards

#1 in Canada on its 22nd week on the chart. This is Chayce's debut in Canada (surprisingly the duet with Lindsay Ell was ignored) and it had a speedy climb on the chart without really stalling.

I feel like he’s really taken the time to find his audience, his sound & branding since Idol and the timing really aligned for him and this single to connect as he adds something a little different to the format. I usually get concerned when an artist has great streams on one single and the others are weak but in this case, he’s built up a nice streaming base with his EP and non single releases making me hopeful for his career. Radio is always fickle, especially with follow ups but hope he keeps touring and this can hit the top 5 here as it topped the Canada charts.

Yet another American Idol success story, which is why it always has been and always will be the superior singing competition show.
This song really grew on me with repeated listens
