There it is, the biggest hit of the year according to Billboard's year-end charts!! "Take My Name" was a top 50 contender for awhile, even making it as high as #35 at one point, but ended up gradually falling throughout the rest of the rankdown to end up here. I can definitely understand why people dislike this one, but Parmalee tends to have a knack for making really generic songs a lot better than they would have been if most other artists recorded them. They've pretty much made a career out of making depthless songs that I enjoy more from them than I would from anybody else, lmao.

Who would have expected them to take a YE #1 spot back in 2018? If they can come back after the huge flop, I'm still believing in the return of Thompson Squre. Take My Name has a good melody, but also feels pretty basic.

I do remember some posters saying Wasted On You grew on them in the single thread but I didn't expect to see this much support from the more silent posters. What a whiny song for him to sing.

“Truth About You” would have probably been 30 spots higher on my list if it was sung by anyone other than Mitchell. His voice is nails on a chalkboard for me. But the song was good enough to land him in my top 70 even with the voice of a dying chain-smoking raccoon. This is likely the first time a Tenpenny song has ever escaped my bottom 10.

It may be a surprise for its fans to see "We Did" get quite as much hate as it did. But it wasn't just one or two random haters; this song literally had SIX people put it in their bottom 10, even despite nobody putting it in their 90s, suggesting for whatever reason a surprising amount of extreme hatred among those who disliked it! But boy am I addicted! Those who have ranked it in the New Releases rd and the Canadian rd may be tired of hearing me say this, but the biggest thing that drew me to this one is all the Jo Dee Messina vibes Sacha is serving here. Let's be honest, it basically sounds like it IS Jo Dee singing "Small town style on the bridge" and then "even now when I kiss your lips" in the first pre-chorus  The chorus may have a weird cadence to it which is I'm sure what turned some people off, but it sure is an earworm once you connect with it! I could 100% hear Jo Dee putting out this song or something kinda like it if she ever remembers that she's a recording artist! |

Kameron Marlowe is underrated. I gave his debut a couple listens and it's quite strong. Surprised he hasn't had another attempt at radio yet given he streams pretty well.
