I didn't pay any attention to "Slow Down Summer" when it was current, but for some reason it has grown on me exponentially over the course of this rankdown!!! I have now found something really understated and easygoing about the chorus melody that I can't get enough of. I'm wondering if I underranked this! Happy seeing it in the top 30, despite Thomas Rhett's rather "meh" historical output!

"Slow Down Summer" has a killer melody, and I quite like the visual of the music video. Definitely the highlight of the album. As a west-coast resident, the autumn is pretty bad, hence the lyrics are kinda relatable.

The melody of "What a Song Can Do" is FIRE! I absolutely love their harmonies on "it'll make you give your heart and get it back" especially. This was such an undeserved flop on the charts!!!

In a hindsight, wish they did not pull "What A Song Can Do," and also followed up with "Chance Of Rain." Both are well written songs with distinct melody.

What a messy song with plastic orchestral moments. Exactly! The beat and production are both horrible. "Slow Down Summer" is just more trendy modern country drivel. I would have ranked it lower, but there was SO much crap lol. |

I've preferred the two follow-ups from Growin' Up, "The Kind of Love We Make" and "Going, Going, Gone" to "Doin' This". |

Echo fearlessarrow on Luke Combs. âDoinâ Thisâ just feels like such a retread both sonically and thematically of the past two albums of his, which just didnât leave me very excited at all initially for Growinâ Up. Itâs the two follow-up singles (and the album as a whole) that have pleasantly stunned me by shaking things up on both the thematic and sonic fronts. I can explain âFlower Shops,â itâs just such a gorgeous song both lyrically and sonically. It really stunned me when I heard it. I hate to give the collaborator that praise because of reasons but damn it if this song isnât damn good. |

Pulling "What a Song Can Do" before it even scraped the top 40 just to drop that awful "Summer State of Mind" song that became an epic flop, only to disappear was... a choice. The melody of the chorus on "What a Song Can Do" is EPIC. Such an earworm. They really whiffed on releasing "Like a Lady" as the lead and should've just gone with this instead. Glad to see we finally got rid of the awful Thomas Rhett and Luke Combs hits from last year. LBTrocks hit the nail on the head in particular about the absurdity of the "Doin' This" lyrics. What an absolutely corny song. |

Tenille represents a bit of a turning point in the results. She finished nearly 100 points above Lady A, which is insane for the upper section of a year-end rankdown! Nearly everybody ended up putting her in the top 60! Ultimately the small handful of tankers sunk her out of the top 25, but otherwise this song represents what was by far our strongest contender yet! You can tell from the ranks that from this point forward, we are officially entering the realm of the Toughest Competitors.
I honestly had no clue what to expect from "Back Then, Right Now", as it is catchy but also doesn't have much substance, and substance is usually where the female artists set themselves apart from the males. But lo and behold, this proved to be a near consistent top 25 contender. Not too bad at all!
