The title speaks for itself, what are songs that are covers that are more well known than the original. One that always come to mind is I Will Always Love You.

Some 80s songs that are covers I think are more known then the original.
Examples are Kim Wilde - You Meep Me Hangin On, Tiffany - I Think Weโre Alone Now, Taco - Puttin On The Ritz, and Naked Eyes - Always Something There To Remind Me, thereโs probably a few more but those came into my mind first. Those songs were all big hits but none of them are the original.

I'm not sure I agree that You Keep Me Hangin On is more known than the original.
I think the original "Without You" by Badfinger is better known for cover versions by Mariah Carey and Harry Nilsson.

Aretha's "Respect" is much better known than the original by Otis Redding.
"Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers is much better known than the original.

It's actually Eternal.
I think this one is up to debate because it really depends on where you're from. Eternal's original is the one I grew up listening to (and the one that got released and played in Brazil). I assume the same thing in their native UK.

No one has forgotten the original nor has Kim surpassed the original in popularity

Yeah...I never knew that it was a cover until someone had told me some time ago. I've never been familiar with that group or their version. Monica's version was pretty popular here in the U.S. I think it went to #1 on the Hot 100 chart, and her version is the one I grew up with.

Disturbed's - The Sound of Silence over Simon and Garfunkel No. Nah for real even if Disturbed has the views, that cover, opus entire discography alone will never be as widely influential as the latter group. Also even if the original is liked, Gary Julesโ Mad World.

Perhaps the Ataris - "Boys of Summer."
Also, would Smash Mouth's "I'm a Believer" fit this category too? It got very popular after being used as part of the Shrek soundtrack.
