Here we go! I figured now would be as good a time as any to start this thread, since we now know specific dates. Y’all got any initial thoughts or predictions? www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/224498/submissions-now-open-for-58th-academy-of-country-mSubmissions are now open for the 58th ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS (ACM). They'll be accepted here through FRIDAY, JANUARY 27th at 7p (CT)/5p (PT). First-round voting for the AWARDS are set to begin on FEBRUARY 27th. This year's ceremony will livestream exclusively on PRIME VIDEO for a global audience on THURSDAY, MAY 11th from FORD CENTER at THE STAR in FRISCO, TX. Tickets are on sale now. As previously reported (NET NEWS 12/1), numerous award categories were modified in 2022 following the 57th ACM AWARDS, and will be reflected in this year’s submissions and voting for the 2023 AWARDS. The ACM Board of Directors approved changes to the ACADEMY’s Entertainer of the Year category, expanding the final round nominees from five to seven. The ACADEMY’s Songwriter of the Year category has been split into two categories, Songwriter of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. Criteria for the Album of the Year category have been changed to increase the required amount of previously unreleased content from 51% to 75%, and the release window has been updated to better accommodate gradual release schedules. The Video of the Year category has been widened into Visual Media of the Year to include additional formats of content. Additionally, the ACADEMY’s Radio Award criteria for National Personality of the Year has been updated to require that submitted shows are distributed across all continental U.S. time zones. This impacts both National Weekly On-Air Personality of the Year as well as National Daily On-Air Personality of the Year. The eligibility period for submissions for the 58th ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS is NOVEMBER 16th, 2021 through DECEMBER 31st, 2022. Key dates for ACADEMY professional members for the 2022 ACM AWARDS cycle are as follows: Submissions Period: January 9th – January 27th First Round Voting Main Awards: February 27th – March 6th First Round Voting Radio Awards: February 27th – March 13th Second Round Voting Main Awards: March 27th – April 3rd Final Round Voting Radio Awards: March 27th – April 10th Final Round Voting Main Awards: April 17th – April 24th All submission/voting windows close at 8p (ET)/7p (CT)/5p (PT). Click here for more information.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the EOTY category. Will they include more newcomers? Or, simply expand their nod to legacy acts? I expect to see Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, and Morgan Wallen obtain 4 of the slots. I would love to see Kane Brown in this category as he's selling tickets just like these other four.

Dolly and Garth, interesting. I wonder what they are getting in return. Dolly is getting to perform a "new" song (quotes because it's a cover) instead of one of her legacy tracks.

I think Lainey will take female, Kelsea probably the runner up. I think since Miranda is label-less and not being promoted for anything that maybe she’ll be nom-less? Idk how that works. There’s so many albums eligible! I’d like to see something other than Luke’s Growing Up win. I wasn’t a huge fan of Lainey’s entire album but she’s certainly got a lot of talk behind her so I think she could be a contender. Ashley winning would be a lovely treat. Subject to Change might be in there also which would be 3 girls and that’s great. (Maren & ML both eligible but the work kinda seems old now.) Assuming since Stapleton had a quieter year male and entertainer are between Luke and Morgan. Again. Wondering if Hardy will get a male nom.

It's anyone's guess at this point. Here are a few of my guesses:
Male: Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen most likely. Maybe also Cody Johnson. No idea who the 5th would be. Still think this may be Chris Stapleton's award. Female: Carly, Ashley, Lainey, Carrie, Miranda or Kelsea. Wildcard could be Gabby Barrett, since she was Billboard's number 2 ranked country female artist of 2022 behind Carrie Underwood. Lainey will win. Entertainer: Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Chris Stapleton, Carrie or Miranda (probably not both). Won't be surprised if Lainey sneaks in because of her visibility (music, Yellowstone). Winner will be one of the men. Since it isn't CMAs, Carrie could sneak in here on the strength of her tour and Vegas residency. Her music offerings, however, were more of a non-event than usual for her.

Lindeville getting a nomination is a win itself, even though Palomino probably will win.

Lindeville getting a nomination is a win itself, even though Palomino probably will win. With Miranda leaving RCA, I would kinda be surprised if that happened. I think this has Luke Combs all over it.

I think it's safe to assume Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert are always going to get nominated for male and female at both ACMs and CMAs regardless of how their materials perform at radio smh
To no one's surprise, nothing for Maren

I know Ingrid Andress is never a favorite at award shows, but "Wishful Drinking" deserved a Musical Event nomination over "At The End Of A Bar" & "She Had Me At Heads Carolina (Remix)" IMO.

Miranda Lambert …. When will the incessant need to reward her end? I love Miranda but jeeeezz. She gets at least a handful of CMA/ACM nominations every year no matter what she does or doesn’t do.
Sad to see Carrie out of Female, but she was never going to win that anyway..
Fully expect Morgan or Luke to win EOTY.

Miranda and Ashley making it over Carrie is rather odd. Is it though? Maybe back in 2015 but these days, Carrie could have every song on her album go #1, and she’d still be lucky to get one or two nominations. She should 100% be nominated (wasn’t she the #1 female country artist in 2022 according to Billboard???) but I am also (sadly) 100% not surprised that she isn’t nominated

Eh, the Billboard list factors in touring, which she has a huge advantage over other female country artists.
But when the album is outsold by Miranda's album first week, and the singles generally have low impacts, it's not that surprising she missed the awards on music.

And as you said - even if she was nominated, she wasn't winning. That award is going home with Lainey, with Carly having an outside shot.

The ACMs are now being held at the Ford Center in Frisco, TX…on a Thursday?
It’s incredible to see how quickly these awards slipped in carrying any weight at all.
Very unexciting group of nominees. Could throw all the money at the world at Dolly and Garth (which I’m sure Amazon can & did) to make sure it’s an ~unforgettable night of country music~ and it still wouldn’t be enough to make it memorable.

Genuinely what is Sony doing for Maren this album cycle? I’m honestly surprised.
