Twitter/Instagram embeds not loading

Is it just me who is having this issue? I want to know before I clear my cache etc.

It seemed off in the morning but also for some reason embeds were struggling to load for most people on discord for most of today too so I got no clue what's going on.

There doesn't appear to be any ProBoards-wide issues as yet. Ty are you still encountering the issue?

Yes. And it happens to all threads for instance: pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/8351768/thread.

edit: I cleared my cache on Chrome and the problem persists. Tried to switch to Safari and the same thing happens. Maybe it's my local network's problem?
I don't have any issue viewing Twitter and Instagram sites, though.

Ok hmm. I'm not seeing the issue myself on either mobile or desktop. You could try a reset?

I've also had an issue with it recently, although it may just be the Internet. Usually refreshing the page a few times gets it to load eventually.

Ok, I figured out why. The "DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials" addon for Chrome for some unknown reason blocked the embeds here. Once I added Pulse to its list of unprotected sites, the issue resolved.

I have this issue frequently. At least with IG I will get the link to the post, though. Twitter is the worst because I don't even get a link, just enough visible blank space to let me know 'oh, there's probably a Twitter post that should be appearing here there.' I often have to either reload the page or hit the quote button to get to the twitter links. I do not typically have this problem on Twitter/IG themselves and regular websites act ok most of the time as well. And I don't have this problem at all on mobile, I don't think. I have noticed it occur sometimes on other (non-PB) forums though. So it's something about the typical forum setup that is a problem.

With that all said, I always assumed it was simply an odd ISP/connectivity issue. (I'm in a rural area where the internet can be quite flaky, so this isn't something that I can troubleshoot much, I just have to deal with it.) Can't speak to whether that is a likely cause for anyone else but yeah, my first guess would be the network. If your connection is wireless (as opposed to broadband/fiber/cable) maybe it's related to that? Especially if your network is still running on 4G. I'd like to think 5G wouldn't have these issues but I wouldn't know since it's not available here yet.

edit - just now seeing Ty's last post above me, didn't think about privacy settings. Pretty sure mine is just the connection, but I do use Brave which is security focused, so I'll see if changing my shield settings helps.

It has been really hit or miss for me when viewing it via Taptalk on my phone. Sometimes the embeds load correctly, other times they do not. Refreshing usually does the trick.

On my laptop, they do not load completely sometimes.

As an update, a few users have mentioned this issue across other boards. But it doesn't appear to be a PB issue per Support. Similar to what Ty has already done, certain browser settings may need adjusting (allowing embeds, enabling cookies etc).

Some tweets (on locked/private accounts) will not display as an embed.

In order to see Twitter embeds you must have third party cookies enabled, this is a limitation that Twitter has imposed. You may want users having issues to check their browsers and see if they have anything that would block third party cookies.
