I probably should update this thread too.
First week: #28 in ARIA chart. #62 in UK chart. (Plus The Kind Of Love We Make charting for third week at #72.) #3 in NZ chart. Predicted to debut at #15 on Hot 100 chart.

Of the two choices (this or "5 Leaf Clover") I am so glad they went with this song, not that "Clover" is bad but this song is probably my favorite Luke Combs single besides "Even Though I'm Leaving" imo. So excited to see it dominate the chart.

This is not bad, but I wish they had chosen Clover over this. Clover has a stronger melody and more interesting lyrics than Love You Anyway imo.

It won't even matter because they're both going to climb the charts simultaneously the way Morgan Wallen's current two are, so it's all "moot" as to which one they chose. That said, I think LYA is the stronger choice. 5LC is one of the more meh tracks on the record for me, while the instrumentation of LYA really stands out and the fans decided by way of voting that LYA > 5LC.

Most added with 58 adds this week and 76 total historic adds.
5 Leaf Clover got 17 adds this week and 57 total historic adds.
First time one artist has simultaneously had both the first and second most added records.

This was the right choice. I don’t understand the love for “5 Leaf Clover”, it’s sounds like generic Luke Combs, nothing special. This as least offers something new and more interesting. But as already pointed out, ultimately won’t matter because both will probably climb simultaneously and get their time to shine.

Should be noted, Luke held a poll of which song should be the next single — “Love You Anyway” or “5 Leaf Clover,” and “Love You Anyway” won.
51% to 49%.
The plan all along was too announce which single won at Nissan Stadium during Luke’s second stadium show in Nashville. They would’ve been fine with either being officially pushed to country radio and let the fans decide which one.
Both songs are awesome but “Love You Anyway” is tremendous. I think the melody is superb for a ballad. The fiddle goes a long way in making it that much more memorable and lyrically stellar.
Both songs will climb, as noted; and “Fast Car” is up to 9 adds on Mediabase. We saw before this week that country radio did not want to wait — giving “5 Leaf Clover” 40 adds and “Love You Anyway” 18 adds. Same now happening with “Fast Car.” We’ve seen radio not wait with the Morgan Wallen songs.
The old thinking from radio people was the streaming and radio-listening audience wasn’t the same (and there are still people who think that), but more and more people are relying on all forms of data to formulate decisions with labels and radio; and capitalizing on consumption and high-consumption artists like Morgan and Luke is smart business. The format is ever-changing and Morgan and Luke’s simultaneous single climbs are evidence.

“Fast Car” rises 10-7 on the Hot Country Songs chart this week. I’ve been listening to the entire album a lot since it came out, and “Fast Car” is one of my favorites!
I think “Love You Anyway” is a strong single choice. It is such a gorgeous song!

Nothing against either song i do like them both but i really hate what radio is doing. Sure, lets give the two biggest stars in the format who clearly do not need the extra attention and a free pass to saturate radio with even more of their songs, sounds like a good reason for them to ignore even more up and comer’s songs(especially the ladies)
If it wasn’t for the morning show i listen to mon-fri, i’m not sure i would have much to do with country radio any more. I’ve been finding myself flipping more and more to other stations lately. I’m just tired of it.

It should be noted that the phenomenon is not limited to country radio. Pop radio has artists double up on singles for a few years now. Album tracks bombing lower region of airplay charts is observed in active radio right now with Metallica.
Ways to retain radio listeners I guess by playing supposingly popular music. More reasons for artists to explore ways other than radio for success.

They both have multiple songs out right now that are among the most popular in the whole United States. Free pass would be a Luke Bryan 4th single with zero buzz peaking at #1 in 25 weeks simply because he’s Luke Bryan. On the other hand, I think it would be silly for radio to wait 4 months to play a song that is insanely popular right now because of some old unwritten rule that you can’t promote two songs at once. If you think they’re oversaturating the market, I totally understand. But neither Luke or Morgan are getting free passes, they’re simply putting out songs that are connecting in ways we haven’t seen many country stars ever be able to.

I actually see this as a positive. Maybe radio will pivot to be more hip to what is going on, and move songs up the chart faster that are being consumed in other places, versus forcing every song into a year-long chart run that does nothing but clog up the charts.

idk just think it's annoying all the the non singles from them getting unsolicited airplay. They are so far up both of their as*es, but can't even play a female enough to to give them a BB #1 since 2021.

They are so far up both of their as*es, but can't even play a female enough to to give them a BB #1 since 2021. I don't think radio playing the Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen songs that aren't singles are screwing women out of a Billboard #1. No what screws them is having these official singles from Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen and right now Bailey Zimmerman spend weeks upon weeks at #1 on Billboard (so far we have only had 8 Billboard #1s this year so far and four of them are from Luke Combs, Bailey Zimmerman, and Morgan Wallen and they all make up 10 of the weeks so far with the other 6 weeks going to Jordan Davis and Nate Smith for 2 weeks each while Jelly Roll and Kane/Katelyn Brown got 1 week) and forces a lot of other singles to either try and wait it out, or just say fuck it and go for the Mediabase #1 and settle for a Billboard #2. Not helping is that the tracking weeks for Mediabase and Billboard are not as close as they used to be (Billboard is Friday to Thursday and Mediabase is Monday to Sunday) so it's a bit more difficult for labels to properly plan and nab both #1s like we are probably gonna see with "Wait In The Truck" and maybe even "Gold". I do think it is important to note just how big Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs are as on the Billboard Artist 100 they are both in the Top 5 with Wallen at #1 and Combs at #4 and this chart factors in all genres. They are both the faces of country music and arguably the faces of music in general as outside of Taylor Swift I don't think I have ever seen a country artist be this popular let alone two of them.

They are so far up both of their as*es, but can't even play a female enough to to give them a BB #1 since 2021. I'm be less bothered by females missing out on #1 because of all the mega hits by the male superstars if it didn't seem like it happened almost exclusively to them. The issue is that Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Cole Swindell, Bailey Zimmerman etc. can stay #1 for 3-8 weeks at a time, block successful hits by females from a #1, and then songs like "At the End of a Bar" or "New Truck" get to the top somehow. That said, I feel like this is a net positive in the long haul. I suspect it'll help higher-impact songs take off faster and we may not have as many of those 60-week climbs for nobodies who don't move the needle, and most of those are also from the men. Women may be polarizing in callout and such, but when they do 'hit' they tend to move the needle and it could potentially benefit artists like Lainey Wilson, Kelsea Ballerini, Carly Pearce, etc. climb quicker. We're also seeing Megan Moroney's "Tennessee Orange" kinda fitting into the same mold of being fast-tracked into smashing at country radio because she made waves the way the boys have been doing, so it's possible for women to take advantage of this, too.

I don’t think this is the same situation as with the current Morgan Wallen dual singles. Morgan is white hot right now and while Luke is super popular as well (although not as popular), there’s no way that ”5 Leaf Clover” is going to generate the same interest as “Last Night” did coming out on the heels of “One Thing at a Time” and eventually overtaking it on the charts. LN blew up on streaming and started getting pushed to pop, so country radio couldn’t ignore it even if they had wanted to. To me, “5 Leaf Clover” seemed to chart mostly due to the fact that radio wanted something new from Luke. The new album was out, but Luke and his label hadn’t announced a single yet so it got into the 40s on Mediabase as a non-single/album track, but now that “Love You Anyway” is the official lead single and is top 30, “5 Leaf Clover” has fallen out of the top 50 and seems to be taking a back seat. I have no doubt that “5 Leaf Clover” will be an eventual single (likely 3rd*) and will be a big country radio hit, but I don’t see it climbing simultaneously with “Love You Anyway” the way that Morgan is climbing with both “Last Night” and “One Thing at a Time”. Rather, I think “Fast Car” is the song that’s poised to take off before “Love You Anyway” finishes its run. FC is taking off organically and I don’t think Luke and his team should sit on it until after “Love You Anyway” peaks. I see FC being the 2nd single and overlapping with “Love You Anyway” somewhat, and then I’d bet “5 Leaf Clover” will be 3rd after LYA and FC are done.

I wonder if he’ll keep 3 with 5 leaf clover which seems to still be getting decent Airplay. I’m not a fan of artists having 2 songs at once it’s stopping new artists from taking off it seems like.

Enters the Top 20 on Mediabase gaining 6 spots to #16 and at #15 on Billboard after 8 week on the chart. Meanwhile "Fast Car" is up to #25 on Mediabase and #21 on Billboard after 5 weeks.
The stranglehold that Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs has on the genre by in large is truly stunning to see.
