Kidd G - Rising Country artist

I had no idea who this guy was a week ago but the local Country club here Coyote Joes announced Kidd G coming in April. I looked him up and he's pretty good. Kinda has a young Morgan Wallen feel to his music. He's 19 and based out of Miami and is influenced by Country and Trap music and it shows in his writing. He's got great lyrics and vocals. I read that he plays to pretty big crowds in the thousands in certain parts of the South already. I was surprised he would play the 3000 capacity club here that Scotty McCreery just sold out last night. Anyway here is some of his stuff. He's got 3 albums out already on streaming.

Yeah no, I have heard the occasional Kidd G song and while he stands out his songs are not for me at all. Not to mention he is still signed to Big Machine label group, so he isn't that independent as the labelled tried one of his songs and it flopped spectacularly.

Kidd G has some bops! His fusion of country and trap feels fresh and people need to accept that modern music tends to borrow from a variety of genres, country included. It’s okay if every song isn’t slathered in pedal steel and fiddles. Glad he’s gaining some traction! Break Up Song is my personal favorite.

Yeah I listened to 1 song on a road trip a few days ago and then by the time I was done I had listened to most of what he has on Apple Music! I got a ticket to his show here. I think he's gonna only get more in the mainstream in popularity in the next year or 2.

When I first heard Kidd G. last year, I basically wrote him off, but the videos posted in this thread have changed my opinion. Based upon these songs, he is growing on me, I hope he continues to release music like this.

Start with "Nashville Sessions" he released this past December. That's what got me hooked and wanted to listen to the rest of his music.

This is my favorite on his full length album from 2021. I love the drive of this song!

Not a big fan of his, but he has some bops and his following is hard to deny. I could see him getting an airplay hit with the right song within the next year or two.

I am trying with this guy, I really am but his style of country mixed with trap and rap music is not for me, and while he does have a big following, country radio rejected one of his songs hardcore (4 adds on impact 7 in total before it was dropped) and I don't think I see another Zach Bryan in that he and his music is too big to ignore.

Hasn’t been promoted that I know of but it picked up an add this week on Wdsy in Pittsburg.

Yeah, this is how I feel. I still don't hear what others hear with this guy. I'm sure he's a nice person but his brand of "country" music is not for me at all.

Yes "Love Song" is a great Country-Pop love song that could be good coming from a boyband. "Ex Games" is a really clever concept for a song and I love the way it's written. It's by far his best song!
